Finding Atlanta’s favorite fireworks.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The random, late-night cracks and whistles lately remind me that July 4 celebrations are near, but what’s the best place to see, hear, smell, enjoy a real fireworks display? As in, the real ones, not the kind set off with a plastic lighter by someone likely to lose a finger.
The AJC created this handy list and map of July 4 events.
Better yet, a compendium of helpful fours: fireworks displays, events that don’t necessarily involve fireworks, fireworks you can legally use in Georgia (yea sparklers!) and safety tips.
All that said, it appears that fireworks will be exploding all over Atlanta on Friday. If you’ve got a favorite, a fireworks tradition, or a lead on a great spot to watch them, share down in the comments!

There was another blog about fireworks, but I can’t find it now.
Why does the AJC move these blogs around? You can’t even find them……
But yet, an article about watermelon and viagra is up and running to two straight days!!!

On topic … I always enjoyed the fireworks show at Stone Mountain Park.
I moved away from Georgia nine years ago now and I still miss certain things, including the Stone Mountain fireworks show!

Best fireworks display? My bedroom. More fireworks than the entire state of Alabama.

Stone Mountain, Lenox Square, Centennial Park, Mall of Georgia.
However, around these parts, the individual cities, Duluth, Sugar Hill, Norcross, do theirs on the 3rd. EE Robinson Park in Sugar Hill has one of THE BEST celebrations. We have been going there for 4 years now. VERY kid friendly, live music, an excellent fireworks display, and a movie at the ampitheater afterwards.
Best part, 10 minute drive home!!!!
Happy 4th Everyone. Enjoy and please be careful!!!!!.

Hard to beat the display in DC - just moved down last summer, so this will be first year without the show in the Nation’s Capitol.

The fireworks at Halfmoon Landing, Colonels Island Georgia! They shoot them off from a barge in the North Newport River! Best place you’ll never find…..

Atlanta can’t hold a candle to: BOSTON or DC… I mean…geez, why can’t they do something great at Piedmont…oh thats right…drought. I have never understood watching fireworks at a mall…(LENOX)…I went to see the Centennial Fireworks twice and ended up running for cover when the devices fell off of the light posts that they were strapped to, and well…Stone Mountain is kind of a “red necky” place…so, yeah, DC or BOSTON for sure.

Aww, Trixie, I hope you find one that suits you here. As always, thanks to the readers who offer up their wisdom, guidance and secrets to a good time. (Um, and not the kind of good time CommunistAJC is talking about.)

Kennesaw also holds their celebration on the 3rd, with live music and a great fireworks show. This year the band is Frontiers - a Journey Tribute band, and the local band Brookwood Split will be opening for them. It is a great family atmosphere and is always a good time. And for a local show the fireworks are amazing. The concert and fireworks are held in the downtown, Depot park area, with music starting around 6pm. Come on out if you’re nearby :)

I love the fireworks display on July 4 at the Braves game; they do an excellent job, with a variety of fireworks types and coordinated patriotic music. If the game is sold out, there might be a good spot from which you still could see the fireworks, if not hear the music that goes with them.

Hands down….Lanier National Speedway….it is across the street from Road Atlanta. It is awesome! A night of racing, sitting on the hill in our comfy chairs, grilling out, having a beer and then getting to watch the fireworks up close and personal! Very up close! Been great for the last 20+ years!
