Convert to The Force
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Consider Jamisha Tucker a convert.
The 16-year-old Stone Mountain resident went into “Revenge of the Sith” cold but was impressed with what she saw onscreen.
“I’ve never been to a ‘Star Wars’ movie and I didn’t think I’d be into it,” she said following an advance screening Wednesday night. “But it was cool. I liked the setting, the plot.”

“Death Star” Pinata Nixed
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The costumers â€â€? folks bearing uncanny outfits resembling “Star Wars” characters â€â€? are expected to begin pouring in late afternoon.
Bobby Dranzek, 22, of Acworth, had his Imperial Guard outfit in his car and was itching to slide into his garb.
Contests, games and other activities are also planned. But one special prop â€â€? a Death Star pinata â€â€? was nixed by theater management, who apparently didn’t want a throng of rabid fans swinging sticks in the air.
So much for showing off lightsaber skills.

The Wait Begins
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The tents are down. The beach chairs are out.
And a junk-food buffet has emerged.
Boxes of doughnuts, pizzas are stacked on tables and the sodium fumes of MacDonald’s fills the air outside the theater.
Many of the campers were awoken by leaf blowers at 7 a.m. Others have now joined them in the line, while the wimpier members of the crew left to shower and refresh.
Their place in line is secure.
“If they camped out they have their place,” Letendre said.
The theater is being extremely kind, allowing the crowd to use electrical outlets to plug in televisions, computers and electronic games.
The real question: how to kill the next 12-plus hours?
“I’m easily amused,” said Tom Weldon, 37, of Atlanta, who spent the night sleeping in the parking lot in a Toyota Prius.
His solution: a deck of Texas Hold’Em cards.

Camp ‘Star Wars’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A concrete corner in an otherwise deserted parking lot is alive with energy at 2 a.m.
Tiki torches are lit, tents are set up and despite the late hour and nippy temperature, there’s a buzz of anticipation.
“It’s like the ‘Star Wars’ Woodstock,” said Ian Letendre, 30, of Roswell.
More than 20 fans were camped out in the wee hours of Wednesday morning in anticipation of the midnight release of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith,” the final cinematic chapter in the almost 30-year-old science fiction film series.
Fans began this celebration Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the Regal Hollywood 24 off of I-85 near Chamblee to be first in line when the film opened. With 22 hours to go before the curtain rose, no one seemed weary.
“It’s like a Super Bowl for nerds,” said Ray Stephens, 33, of Marietta, who joined the group Tuesday night.
The set-up wasn’t so bad.
A power generator made watching DVDs a breeze. A “Star Wars” Monopoly game was also on hand, along with an assortment of Dunkin’ Donuts and Pepsi cans. The group even printed its own laminated ID badges for the event.
Come 10 a.m., the camp will be broken down and the real line will begin on the sidewalk in front of the theater. Costumed characters, contests and other activities were planned for mid-afternoon until the 12 a.m. opening.
Until then, the crowd was making due with their limited version of civilization. Bathroom breaks, for example, were taken by many in a nearby patch of brush.
“It’s cleaner than the Texaco station,” said Jay Shrivastava, 33, of Marietta.
