‘Quantum’ or ‘Twilight’?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“Quantum of Solace,” the new James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig, raked in a whopping $70 million this weekend. Up this Friday is “Twilight,” based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster novel about a teenage girl (played by Kristin Stewart in the movie) who falls in love with a vampire. Did you see “Quantum” this past weekend, or are you holding out for “Twilight” this coming weekend? Think “Twilight” will surpass “Quantum” at the box office?

Actually, I saw neither. LOL. Had a buddy and some friends that went Friday night and Saw Quantum of Solace, but since I had to get up early, I was unable to go. I plan on seeing Bond pretty soon.

Bond…Craig brings a new and dynamic character to this franchise. Bold, rough and tireless, Bond now embodies todays world. Violence and no regrets. Upon dumping his friends body in a dumpster, he states ” He wouldn’t care”..

Daniel Craig can’t even drive a stick shift yet we’re supposed to believe he’s James Bond?
I’ll start watching Bond films again when they ditch Craig and put a real man back in Bond’s shoes.

QoS was an action packed movie, but not a Bond movie. Gone were the beautiful girls, the exotic locations, the gadgets, the wise quips, Miss Moneypenny, Q or the suave sophidtication we expect in a Bond film. The James Bond theme and the famous gun barrel scene, that has started every Bond movie, didn’t appear until the very end of the film. Not one time during the entire movie did Bond even utter the line line we wait for “Bond, James Bond”. It may have been a modern set Indiana Jones movie, but James Bond it wasn’t.
I agree that Roger Moore was too much of a clown (and his novies too much like comic book, see e.g. Moonraker - James Bond in space? Not cerdible) and Timothy Dalton was too serious (see e.g. The Living Daylights) and Pierce Brosnan too stale at the end (see e.g. The World is not Enough or Die Another Day). Who was the perfect Bond? - of course, Connery, Sean Connery (although kudos to George Lazenby)
I’d ask the producers to make the next Bond film a little lighter (not too light - otherwise we’ll have another Octopussy on our hands)and add some suave sophstication to the chaacter. Bring back Moneypenny and Q. Also there should be a law that the gunbarrel scene has to start every Bond movie and that once in the movie Bond has to introduce himself as “Bond, James Bond”

Saw it. Very disappointed after seeing and really enjoying casino royale. There wasn’t any suspense nor did a story line ever develope.

We don’t go the movies anymore. Wait six months and you can get it on Netflix for $15 a month. However, I don’t want more of you people doing this, or the US movie industry will collapse - forcing us all to watch Bollywood movies from India.

I saw QoS and I like Craig’s bond. However, I am anxiously awaiting Twilight, and I do believe it has the potential to beat out QoS. Teenage girls rule the economy anymore (Hannah Montana, anyone?) Besides that, it’s a good story, so I’m waiting to see if Twilight does well enough to continue the series.

Stupid post…..people who see this Bond movie are NOT the women/girls who see Twilight. As the reviewers said, this Bond movie sucked! All chase and explosions. Don’t know who edited this film but it was awlful. Twilight will be the biggest movie of the year…wait and see
