Spike Lee may need your suggestion for his ESPN film
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former Atlantan Spike Lee is among a small group of directors who will make hour-long sports documentaries for ESPN that will start airing in fall 2009.
Others in the project, according to the Hollywood Reporter, are Richard Linklater and Davis Guggenheim (“An Inconvenient Truth”).
Linklater’s documentary is expected to involve the Rose Bowl. Guggenheim plans to explore a “misunderstood” sports icon whom he adored as a child.
What’s not known is the subject of Lee’s documentary. He’s a major New York Knicks fan, but wouldn’t you rather he come South and pick a subject closer to his old hometown?
The Atlanta Braves? The ‘96 Olympics? The current UGA Bulldogs football powerhouse?
What Georgia sport would you like to see Lee explore?

Next Coen comedy to open wide in September
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Coen Brothers will follow up their Oscar landslide by doing the unusual for them: opening their next movie wide in September.
The comedy “Burn After Reading” won’t follow the usual Coen track of opening in a few theaters in major markets and then slowly adding theaters across the country. Thanks to Ethan and Joel Coen’s new instafame, the film will open everywhere on Sept. 12.
“Burn” carries an acting Oscar pedigree, too. It stars Academy Award winners George Clooney, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton, plus Oscar nominees Brad Pitt and John Malkovich.
Filmed in New York and Washington, the movie’s plot involves a pair of gym staffers who discover a disc with CIA secrets and try to sell it.
Are you a Coen Brothers fan after “No Country for Old Men”? Do you like their cynical comedy?

Some videos speak for themselves.
Like this 1960s promo for the cheesy “Italian Spiderman.”
Enjoy.
