Elderly woman vs. expensive car … Guess who wins
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A lot of those “Funniest Home Videos” on TV are setups. And so are a lot of the videos on Youtube.
But either this setup — a slow-walking old woman taking on an impatient man in his expensive car — is so well done or it’s the real deal. Either way, it makes me laugh.
Enjoy.

All these awards about best this and best that … here’s what was the worst
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If I don’t like a movie I usually forget I’ve even seen it by the next day. Bad movies get filed way way back in my brain.
Now we’re in the season of Golden Globes and Oscars and best this and better that. And without warning, one of those way way back movies lurched forward — “Rendition.”
Now that, to me, was an awful movie. There was so much anticipation about it, especially, I guess because at that time Hollywood had yet to realize that moviegoers weren’t really wanting to see movies relating to terrorism (Notice how the ad campaign for “Charlie Wilson’s War” focused on Julia Roberts and never really mentioned that the movie was about political movements in America to counter the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan).
Anyway, “Rendition” was bad. It’s done nothing for Jake Gyllenhaal’s career and Reese Witherspoon looked like an unconvincing whimpering mess, especially during her lame breakdown scene in front of all people, Meryl Streep.
Here are other movies last year where I couldn’t wait to run for the exit — “The Darjeeling Limited,” “Rush Hour 3,” “Evan Almighty” and “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.” Those are just for starters.
The best worst movie by far was Lindsay Lohan’s “I Know Who Killed Me,” a thriller/gutter dweller with a serial killer and a stripper pole.
What would you name as the worst movies of 2007?

Is there a funny moment in ‘First Sunday’?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“The Bucket List” may have finished first at the box office nationwide, but last weekend’s big money earner in metro Atlanta was “First Sunday.”
The church comedy with Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan and Loretta Devine raked in more than $700,000 here, finishing first and more than doubling the $329,000 earned by second place “Bucket List.”
That’s certainly no big surprise. African-American films always perform extremely well in Atlanta. For instance, “The Great Debaters” still has a spot in metro Atlanta’s Top 10 box office while nationwide last weekend Denzel Washington’s film ranked 14th.
“First Sunday” is a comedy somewhat in the vein of a Tyler Perry movie with raucous humor and over-the-top sentimentality.
I think the film worked only in spots. But one character really made me laugh. That was Katt Williams’s church choir director, especially when he was leading his group in song. The hymn was energetic and spiritual as he waved his arms in his otherworld of oddity.
Did you like “First Sunday”? What parts of the film were funny to you?
