Jamie Foxx for “Ray.” Naturally, he thanked Ray Charles from the stage who meanwhile, was busy banging back martinis and smoking unfiltered cigarettes with Kate, Spence and, oh, never mind. How about Oprah waving her fist in the air? Who knew she was even still awake?? As expected, Fox thanked the woman who helped raise him, his grandmother. Only Foxx could thank someone “For whooping me.” But now that he’s an Oscar winner, maybe Jamie will grow in his hair to camouflage that unfortunate Mike Tyson-esque tattoo on the back of his head. Hopefully, grandma whooped him for that too.

I am so happy, I can hardly stand it! Thankfully, the tattoo is temporary, should only stay on while he is filming his next movie.

Jamie’s thanks to his grandmother for “whooping� him was something I could relate to. I had a few while growing up and I’m a better person for it. Those “whoopings� kept me in line and reminded me to “act like I had some sense�. The lessons I learned are helping me achieve my goals just as Jamie’s did for him. Jamie definitely deserved the Oscar and his grandmother deserved thanks.
