12/3: Justin Guarini, Tamyra Gray doing Atlanta Salvation Army benefits this weekend
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Here’s a press release I got from the local Salvation Army. It appears we’ll be seeing a LOT of “Idol” folk this weekend. Besides the four (Chikezie, Kimberley Locke, Diana DeGarmo, David Hernandez) at the Classic Center this Friday and Saturday, season one finalists Tamyra Gray and Justin Guarini are doing free concerts for the Salvation Army this weekend.
Tamyra grew up in Norcross and Justin’s dad was the former Atlanta police chief and he spent summers here growing up. Justin’s stint on “Gone Country” on CMT starts January 24.

Good for Justin and Tamyra, and congrats to Jordin, that’s a lot of spots in the top download list.

Hey everybody.
Nana, my daughter is expecting little Asa on 1-1-09.
To whoever- NO one deserved to be murdered in Jennifer Hudson’s family, especially the nephew. And who are you to judge them?

Morning!
Wow! the former Idols are really busy this holiday season. Good for them.
Harmony…sounds like you might have the “first” New Year’s grandbaby. Congrats.

Good morning! I have always loved Tamyra and thought she should have come in second that year. I still have never heard a better rendition of “A House is Not a Home.”

Hi y’all…Happy Hump Day. :)
Harrietth, I so agree with you. Tamyra was definitely robbed during her season. Obvs, I wanted Kelly to win, but a finale with the two of them would’ve been amazing.
Jordin has really done well this year.
Oh, and since when is Justin an “actress?” I mean, really, it’s called proofreading. ;)

BTW…thanks for the “spoiler” site, Rodney. I’m not sure that it’s all that interesting when you take into account that we’ve never heard of these people. It might be more informative AFTER we’ve seen some of the audition shows.

Morning all,
K&CFan, you are right. After watching that movie Justin was in that word should not be applied to him in any way, shape, or form. :)

IMO Justin went a long way on looks and very little talent. He had great stage presence and knew how to work the audience, but no way was he or is he good enough to carry Tamyra’s bags. But, on the other hand, he has made it work for him, so he is to be congratulated for that.

Good Wednesday morning, fellow blogsters! I hope everyone is staying warm and toasty! I had to scrape my car windows this morning…bbbrrr
So, my joke for today: Q: What is the difference between a guitarist and a Savings Bond? A: Eventually a Savings Bond will mature and earn money!
Oh, and I am still enjoying my David Cook cd. I really highly recommend it…I like it alot. I would say that if you like Bon Jovi, you will really like this cd.

belated g’morning to you all. not much to say today, so i’ll check with you later….

Smile, linny! Christmas is still 3 weeks away.
I’ve seen bits and pieces of From Justin to Kelly…can’t watch it all in one sitting. Someday I will have seen enough of it to claim I’ve watched the whole movie but…I don’t see that happening too soon.
I remember watching Tamyra on Boston Public….she wasn’t much of an actress either but she sure sang great.

Oooh, D, I loved Boston Public. I hated when that show ended. I watched religiously and was so invested in the characters it was unbelievable. You’re right about Tamyra on there.

Rodney there’s a great video on msn.com of Diana, Chikezie, Kim Locke and David Hernandez rehearsing their Christmas show. Find it on the left hand column listed under videos.

LOL, D!
I saw it in the theaters (and it’s in my DVD collection). If that doesn’t cement my claim as a KF (or the world’s biggest dork), I don’t know what does…
Tamyra was okay on BP (acting wise), when she sang I Will Always Love You? Wow…

Just kidding! :-) You’re a true fan, that’s for sure!

I just cannot figure who in Athens will be going to the show to warrant TWO shows, LOL. I won’t be — can’t afford it — but Rodney if you come over to Athens, let me know!!

Two Athens shows does seem excessive but it sounds like the show itself is very, very good. Surprisingly so, even. If I could I’d go simply to hear Diana and Kim Locke sing their duet of “Breath of Heaven,” which is getting raves.

Morning!
Thursday is going to be a quiet day, I see. Let’s try to think of a topic for discussion. If anyone comes up with an idea, post it.
Carrie, Jordin, Fantasia and JHud have all been nominated for Grammies. Daughtry’s momentum seems to have slowed down. Fantasia’s nom is for a collaboration with JHud…I think. Jordin’s nom is for a collaboration with Chris Brown

Did anyone see the promo for next season featuring David Cook?
Also, did anyone watch Secret Millionaire last night? I thought it was highly exploitive and cheezy.

harrietth…I’ve seen the promo with Cook. It’s very good. I also saw the ‘auditioner in a bikini’ promo. She can’t sing but Simon puts her through anyway. How many bikinis do y’all think we’ll be seeing next year?
didn’t watch Secret Millionaire. there are just some reality tv concepts that sound silly even before the show airs.

Yes, the bikini girl. There has to be more to it than that, surely. They have Simon ogling her and putting her through. Talk about cheezy!! And I agree about how good the Cook promo is. I am off to class for a bit. Back later.

morning, all!
i watched about 30 seconds of SM and said “nope” … i think i ended up watching some ghost hunter on sci-fi or something equally ridiculous … actually i was working on a king-sized afghan and not paying much attention to anything for that time period…. D you’re so right about the silly concepts…
catch you guys later!
