11/25: Ford sticks with “Idol,” Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol, vol. 2 is out, early Hollywood semifinalists

Despite the troubles at the Big Three, the strongest of the trio is remaining a major sponsor of “American Idol” as the show enters its eighth season next year, according to Broadcasting & Cable.

Ford spent nearly $78 million on advertising with “Idol” last season and $328.5 million over the entire series.

-If you’re into “Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol,” the new one came out last week.

Here’s a rather negative review.

This is nearly the exact same game I reviewed in March except 40 new crappy cover songs have been brought in to replace the last 40 crappy covers that were in the first title, downloaded songs are now a different color on the selection screen, three new venues have been added, and the new Karaoke mode allows you to sing without scores. Beyond those changes, we’re dealing with a basic rehash. Just like before, you’ll pick a song and take it into one of a handful of modes, but the gist is that you’ll need to recite the lyrics as they scroll by the bottom of the screen while you sing on key and in time to get the on-screen arrow to cover the pitch and timing bars. Pick an American Idol mode over a straight singing session, and your performance will be critiqued by Randy, Paula, and Simon.

You can buy it for $45 a change at Amazon.. It’s available for Wii, Playstation 3 and the XBox.

Among the 40 songs include “Pinball Wizard,” “Seven Army Machine,” “Mr. Brightside,” “I’m Every Woman,” “Eye of the Tiger,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Maggie May.”

Newfound fame “is the most awkward thing,” he says. “When people look at me as a rock star, it seems humorous to me. I look at myself as a goober.”

In the next breath, when envisioning his ideal future, he says emphatically: “I just want to be an important artist. I don’t want to be a flash in the pan. I don’t want to be a one-hit wonder. When people talk about this period in music, I want my name to be brought up.”

-The New York Post has posted some of the possible semifinalists who are in the top 100 from Hollywood Week.

There’s David Osmond, a nephew of Donny & Marie. There’s Jason Castro’s bro Michael. Anna Kaelin, the daughter of David Archuleta’s voice coach, is reportedly there, too. There’s also a husband-wife team.

Good for Ford. I heard the GM dumped Tiger Woods. I can see why he’d be too expensive in the current economic conditions.

Isn’t it wonderful that a guy with everything going for him at the moment still sees himself as a “goober”!? Shy guy, great musician!

Let’s hope the goober isn’t a one-hit wonder.

I wonder why they keep making these AI video games, it sounds painful.

I’m pleased ford will continue to support AI — the ford/contestant commercials are usually quite entertaining…

not that i could afford to buy a new car, anyway…

JT, i agree, LOL… AI video games seems … well …. lame!!

The following article is kind of funny…

*FORT LUPTON, Colo. — Barry Manilow’s “I Write the Songs” may begin with the line, “I’ve been alive forever,” but for noise ordinance violators, listening to Manilow may feel like forever.

Fort Lupton Municipal Judge Paul Sacco says his novel punishment of forcing noise violators to listen to music they don’t like for one hour has cut down on the number of repeat offenders in this northwestern Colorado prairie town.

About four times a year, those who plead guilty to noise ordinance violations are required to sit in a room and listen to music from the likes of Manilow, Barney the Dinosaur, and The Platters’ crooning “Only You.”

“These people should have to listen to music they don’t like,” said Judge Paul Sacco for a segment about the program that aired Friday on Denver’s KUSA-TV.

Sacco began the program years ago when he noticed that many of the repeat offenders simply showed up at his courtroom to pay their fine with cash.

“Most kids don’t want to hear somebody like Glen Close trying to sing opera,” he said. Video of a recent class showed teenagers with long faces shifting in their seats or looking up at the ceiling.

“You can’t fall asleep,” said teenager Rueben Fuentes right before letting out a bit of a sigh.

Members of a garage band were at the class after playing music late at night in their backyard.

“The cop station was two blocks away,” said band member Robert Mort. “People who were at the party loved it. I’m not sure the cops did.”

“Too much music, too loud, too late,” added band member Harrison DeRuiter.

So what does Sacco think of Barry Manilow?

“I actually don’t think Manilow’s too bad,” he said.*

JT, me too! I will talk to all tomorrow. Time to hit the road for the day. Take care and let’s keep Nana and her family tragedy in our thoughts. Wish there was something we could do. Bye.

Of the spoiler list Rodney posted the one I dread the most is the married couple. Will they both make it, camera focus on the spouse who is already through… pause… queue Ryan asking a probing question… pause… Ugg! that has been played out too many times with friends and relatives. If they spare us that agony I will sing praises to the producers.

Good morning everyone! I was up and baking pies at 5 AM this morning and really getting into the holiday spirit. Nothing like wonderful smells wafting from the oven.

DWTS last night was waaaay too long, but gladly it is over for now. I wanted Warren to win, but was surprised that Lance came in third.

Morning!

Today will be even busier than yesterday. Harrietth, I’ll have pies baking soon too, plus a pumpkin loaf. I’ll be working out extra hard next week!

I’m sure I’ll be back here during the day but just in case…everybody have a wonderful, warm and safe Thanksgiving.

The same to you, D! I am so excited! And, I will be here for awhile. I will leave to drive to Charlotte around 2 PM. And, like you, D, I will be working out extra hard next week!

I was not able to get to DWTS last night… so did Warren actually win?

did they mention if the voting was close?

no baking for me — i did make a beautiful huge bowl of banana pudding, but we’ll have to do the “dinner” thing on Sunday; hubby’s got to work Thursday night. Guess they figure a bunch of guys will want to be out after dinner, maybe avoiding the cleanup detail? i dunno…

OH…. duh i see now, Brooke won. Well that’s not really surprising, but i do think there was some validity in the thought that someone who actually IMPROVED over the season would be more exciting. Brooke was just really really good from day one! ah well, no shame in making it to the finals Warren and Lance, you both were phenomenal!!!

Linny, Brooke won, Warren second, Lance third. You know, I don’t recall about how close the voting was. Must not have been paying attention. I had been watching the Maui basketball tournament and kept checking in, right up until the final three danced. Lance was really good again, and so was Warren.

I am just so happy to still have one member of my parents’ generation around to help celebrate Thanksgiving. I do all the work, but my aunt loves hosting everyone at her home in Charlotte. She was so much a part of my life as a child that it pleases me to no end to be able to help her have Thanksgiving in her home, as in days past.

Well, I’m going over the river and through the woods, to Mom’s house for Thanksgiving! Looking forward to seeing her and brothers and sisters as well. Instead of working out hard afterwards, I’m only gonna eat a little bit of everything. That should do it.

Good for you, Woodpappy! Linny, I see your point about improvement. It doesn’t seem fair that that might not have been taken into consideration, but, oh, well…Warren and Lance were so much fun to watch. If it had been a whole season of the professional-looking dances with Brooke, it would not have been nearly as entertaining.

Woodpappy..hello!!!! And..RIIIIIIGHT, on the “eating a little bit of everything”. That’s so easy to say before the food is lying there in front of you. :-)

For JT(in hopes that it will cheer up his holiday just a little) rumors are swirling that Michael Castro(Jason’s bro) did NOT make it through the Hollywood round. You’re welcome.

good luck with that, WP, LOL!!! (eating only a little bit, that is)… seriously, enjoy your holiday and drive safely!!! don’t need to tell YOU that, i guess, LOL!!!

happy t’day eve, everyone… be safe!

I did love that Len gave Warren a “10 for Entertainment” on Monday night… it was well-deserved!!!

and a couple of the judges even mentioned they took improvement into consideration — the public, however, is a fickle bunch. surely, voting for “the best dancer” would elect brooke hands-down. so the people have spoken. i’d love to find out what the “spread” on the vote was, however!!!

i don’t think any of the three were “losers” — and i don’t think the audience has any room for complaint, this was truly an “entertaining” year for DWTS! even Cloris had her place (a little too long, i might add, but still…)

ok… the drudge-work phase of this week is here, since i won’t be here Friday, i have to get allllll my filing done today. bleh. see you guys later when i can’t stand it any more!!!

I am leaving now, but I would like to say to all of you here, along with Rodney, especially, how much this blog has meant to me and how thankful I have been and will continue to be for allowing me to become a part of the AI blog “family.” Happy Thanksgiving!
