11/21: Phil Stacey loses label deal, Kristy Lee Cook begging for recognition
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Season six finalist Phil Stacey, according to billboard.biz, has lost his deal with Lyric Street Records after his debut album sold just 36,000 albums and didn’t generate any hit singles. I’m personally surprised Lyric Street even took a chance on Phil because Phil, however a nice guy, did not seem to be a future Kenny Chesney or Brad Paisley or even Daryl Worley or Josh Gracin.
-How about this for unusual? Kristy Lee Cook is begging to get her single “15 Minutes of Shame” a few more minutes on the charts:
My single is in a bad spot right now the high 20’s which is a bad spot to be cause it can jump down to 30’s and back up when new songs come out.. So LETS GET THIS SINGLE UP THE CHARTS!!! Work everyone you know to request my single and lets see if we can get it up by MONDAY :O) What do you think? Can we all do it? Stations all over the US doesn’t have to be your state.. let me know ya’all !!! GOD BLESS, Your the best fans!
-And in one of those stupid surveys that companies do to show how uninformed the American public is about important facts, 56 percent of Americans know Paula Abdul is a jduge while only 21 percent know “government of the people, by the people, for the people” came from Abe Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
This type of survey showing our lack of civics knowledge comes out every so often..
— Less than half of Americans can name all three branches of government.
— Only 27 percent of Americans know that the Bill of Rights prohibits the government from establishing an official religion in the U.S.
— 54 percent do not know that the Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war, not the president.

Rodney, it’s so true — but I blame the school system and it’s focus on passing standardized tests instead of teaching not only real facts, but also the MEANS and enjoyment of reading, researching, delving into facts (whether math, science, history, or reading/writing etc). The whole curriculum over the past 20 years has devolved into “how can we get better scores as a school by teaching children to take tests)…
eeps, this could be one of my soapboxes, for SURE!!!

That survey stuff is interesting. There was one released recently where Republicans were asked about facts concerning the Democrat ticket and vice versa. A large percentage of Dems believed that Sarah Palin said that she can see Russia from her house…she didn’t, Tina Fey said that. Many Republicans still believe that Obama is a muslim.
This, IMO, is because neither side paid any attention at all to the other side.
Sorry (but not surprised) to hear about Phil Stacy. Nice guy but not a great singer.

Interesting about the possible drop of Clay. Kristy Lee Cook, sad.
I love these studies, especially since I’m a poly-sci and history junkie. However, what I find to be the funniest part of the article is this bit:
“Politicians, however, scored five points lower than the Average Joe…
Seventy-nine (79) percent of elected officeholders did not know that the Bill of Rights expressly forbids the government establishment of an official religion.
A large number (43 percent) of politicians did not know what the Electoral College does.”
CLASSIC!

That Clay part, so not true and yeah folks, don’t be foolish and believe what you read on the internet without going to the source. It really is a free for all out here in cyberspace. So many untruths and not many wise people.

Wow Rodney takes asking for help for begging w/ Kristy. If Kellie made such a plea, he’d see it otherwise.

Kellie doesn’t need to, that’s the difference.

By JTesla Kellie doesn’t need to, that’s the difference.
Ahem “Taylor Swift and I wrote this song last year together while we were on tour with Brad Paisley. Please be sure to call your local radio station and request it cause Taylor and I really want to have a number 1 party together!! that would be amazing!!!” from KP’s Myspace
Not trying to knock Kellie, just pointing out Rodney’s bias against Kristy and his blindspot towards Kellie.

Jumangi…:-) Rodney DOES have a special place in his heart for Kellie. He admits it. Mostly because she’s so accessible, easy to talk to and full of information. But, since this is a blog and not a news article, I think we can forgive him for displaying his personal biases.
We had a lot of Kristie Lee fans here during last season. Join us for season 8. You won’t be disappointed.

Well then I guess the real difference is that one is a beggar who is succeeding and one is a beggar who is failing.

Concerning Phil Stacey, it sounds form the way billboard.biz expressed it, as did some close to him, that he left Lyric Street; not them dropping him. He simply did not get the support he deserved. After helping to get his fist single out, there was barely anything done for his original song, “Old Glory.” Many stations said they didn’t have the song when people requested it, after the label encouraged him to release it. Very regrettable, when he was receiving standing ovations for it, especially at the Grand Ole Opry, where he has now been 5 times. Wwith the times we are in, it makes for a great song and shows what the troops fight for. And he will be the grand marshal for the 56th annual Nashville Christmas Parade. He is right now in Italy with the Navy, performing and doing interviews. Quite some honors for someone who some think is not a great singer. I beg to differ, especially when it comes to Christian and worship music, which he said he may go into next. There are some youtube videos of him out there leading in worship and one of some young people having gone to a concert at a church. The OP put an original worship song of Phil’s to the video. I like him singing his style of country; but I can’t wait for a Christian album from him. He expressed excitement in a recent bulletin, saying that great things were up ahead. I know that I, as one of his phans, will enjoy his next project.
