11/10: Primary suspect in Jennifer Hudson family murder case parole hearing today

A nice quiet “Idol” day so here are the bits and pieces I scrounged up from over the weekend. If anything more interesting comes along, I’ll probably just update this entry.

-From the Chicago Tribune

The man police have called a suspect in the murder of actress Jennifer Hudson’s family finds out Monday whether he’ll remain in prison for violating his parole or go free while investigators continue to investigate the triple slaying.

-Jordin Sparks is launching a clothing line with Wet Seal. Here’s an excerpt from the press release:

The collection, appropriately named ‘Sparks’, will begin with an assortment of holiday dresses delivering to stores just in time for the busy Thanksgiving weekend. The collection will later include casual apparel and accessories. Each piece will reflect Jordin Sparks’ youthful and collected sense of style. The line is currently set to launch on November 19, 2008 and will come in sizes XS to XL.

-Here are a couple more David Archuleta reviews:

The Sacramento Bee was more or less kind:

Singing wistful, introspective ballads, Archuleta seems comfortable in his skin - which is to say that the songs here, both musically and lyrically, are just like Archuleta: sweet, engaging and lacking any bite.

The Daily Californian was nothing short of effusive.

This album is pure, perfect pop music, the stuff of romantic middle school slow dances, and David Archuleta is perfect as a wholesome pop idol.

How about that New York Times reviewer? He likes him. He likes him not.

The music, made by many producers and songwriters, averages out different forms of radio-format blandness, with tinges of Coldplay and Shania Twain, and a few dollops of good writing: “Don’t Let Go,” co-written and co-produced by the former ’N Sync singer J C Chasez; and “Crush.” But the persona remains intact, ready for more. “Show me that good things come to those who wait,” Mr. Archuleta sings at the end of “You Can.” He sounds as lost as ever, yet this is a mark of absolute assurance.

I’m curious as to how well a stars clothing or fragrance line sells. They must do well considering the number of them that are out there. So when is David Archuleta going to launch his own line of cologne? Or maybe a line of underwear? Ice cream?

Thanks for the review links.

Re the Archie reviews….everybody says about the same thing: ‘Isn’t he a sweet kid and isn’t his music kinda, sorta nice!” Not exactly glowing.

As for whoever murdered JHud’s family, I hope they throw the book at him.

Nothing to say about little Archie.

I second Deirdre’s comments about the person(s) responsible for the murders of JHud’s family. I hope they fry their/his a$$. If this is to harsh for some of you reading this, I don’t mean to offend you, but that is the way I feel about anyone taking another one’s life.

You can tell the reviewers don’t want to bag on little Archie, lest they be accused of being puppy kickers. It seems he’s a nice kid with a good voice making wholesome and pleasant, yet ultimately forgettable music.

Deirdre blushes at the image of Archie in his briefs put into her head by JT. She will not even discuss her reaction to JT’s next sentence. :-)

WOOHOO, Yeah baby, finally got my new computer at home up and running.

JT, you’re making all the ladies on here blush, even one as old as I am.

Don’t foget DWTS tonight. We can discuss who we think will be going home after the show. Earlier today I said that I thought it would be Lance and Lacey, but it very well could be Cheryl and Maurice. I’m just so excited that my computer is working that I’m just babbling.

I go now……………..

Congrats Nana!!!!!

I’d go stark raving mad if my computer broke down!

I notice that JT’s too embarrassed to show his……face around here!

Embarrassed? Me? Nah I just had to hide for a little bit when the HR people came through the office. They frown on the whole “clothing optional” work environment for some reason. I don’t get it, I stay in my cubicle.

Here is my short post for the day.

I want Lance to go home, Lacey can stay. I like everyone of the people left except for Lance, he was boring!

Good Morning to all. Hope everyone had a good night.

Either Cody or Lance will bite the dust tonight, IMO.

Time to hit the road and head to Griffin. Be safe, be good and please drive careful.

Morning!

Li’l Archie’s cd launches today. I think they’ll leave us alone since they didn’t hop on board the previous entry. BTW, good luck to the kid!

Speaking of Archie, in last week’s People, there was a short interview with him. I read it and you could tell it was a kid giving the answers. But, overall, it was an interesting interview. Also, there was a very short article on Carrie Underwood and her current beau. The pix of her was absolutely stunning. In case none of you don’t know, she is dating a former Bachelor from the reality show, who now stars on the show “The Doctors”. He is a real MD and pratices in Nashville.

Hi y’all…

Yes, still KF, but I’ve updated my name on Linny’s advice. ;)

Speaking of, did someone say Carrie? lol. I do have a point: She’s co-hosting the CMAs tomorrow. Guess what I’ll be watching?

DTWS: I’d prefer Maurice and Cheryl to go than Lance/Lacey or Cody/Julianne, but I guess we’ll see.

November 11, 2008 8:41 AM | Link to this

“bout time, kf!!! :-)

I will probably watch some of the CMA’s tomorrow night, although hubby is home and he’s not a big fan of award shows, even though he likes country music.

I would pick Cody to go home…not because of the dancing but just because he bugs me a little. Not even sure why.

k&cf !!!!! LOL i was kidding but… it does seem a good fit, girlfrien’!!!

I agree, I’d like Cody to go, he’s a cute kid but… however, i think a lot of ppl will vote for him just to see Julianne back, LOL!!! Edyta did a great job filling in; she’s a true professonal. AND a great dancer imho. Maurice doesn’t excite me either, but I like Cheryl. So what does that say that … maybe people are voting for the pro rather than the star??? Cheryl, Julianne/Edyta, and Lacey seem popular enough, to listen to folks, but their partners are just bleh imho. tho Cody HAS come a long way and worked hard, i’ll give the kid that.

I think it will come down to Brooke & Warren and one lucky third person who cannot possibly win. At that point, either one would be a good choice. BTW, i think Len was wrong to JUDGE Brooke as a pro, even tho’ she’s approaching that quality…she IS still learning!!! but then, the crotchety old man is never fair, is he, LOL.

Ha, well, glad y’all like the updated name. g

Linny, I think you are on to something about people starting to vote for the pros. I mean, in the first few times, you really were going by the celebrity recognition. But these days, the cast has been around for quite a few season and developed their own fanbase. I bet if Misty May hadn’t gotten hurt, she and Maks would still be there. ;)

Len can be a really tough judge…and I agree, Brooke is great, but she’s not a pro. I do wonder if she’s taken dancing before, though.

Good morning blogsters! I really have no comments to contribute except this - not blushing…may have thrown up in my mouth a little…

Remember how Len did Stacy Kibbler when she was on DWTS? He was forever going on about her long legs and how professional she looked. It seems like he always picks a favorite and they can do no wrong. But, that is the same way Simon is as well.

I’m looking forward to Lacey and Benji dancing!!! Remember how great Benji and cousin Heidi were? I’m so glad that the Schwimmers are getting the recognition — i just wish they w/could give credit to SYTYCD for giving them a leg-up (so to speak)!

Nana, this is true, and he pegged Lance and Lacey from day one because Lacey is modern and he just HATES anything not traditional ballroom/latin, LOL.

By Deirdre

November 11, 2008 10:02 AM | Link to this

Len may have it in his head that this is a ballroom dancing competition and he may be right. That’s how it started…remember a couple of seasons ago when the judges got really upset and laid down the law about over-doing lifts. Maybe Len is just trying to keep it within the bounds of ballroom rather than opening it up to stage dancing. After all, they do specific ballroom dances each week.

That being said, they should never have allowed a group dance or solos if they want to keep it strictly ballroom.

Or, for that matter, bringing in West Coast Swing, Disco, etc. as they did a few weeks ago. If you open it up, then you open it up, imho.

And as I’ve said before the name of the show is “Dancing with the Stars” not “Ballroom with the Stars”, LOL!

just a thought. and i love modern dance if done well. Mia Michaels has choreographed some incredible jazz/modern dance routines on SYTYCD, imho.

By Deirdre

November 11, 2008 10:53 AM | Link to this

But West Coast Swing and Disco are dances that anybody can do on any dance floor. They are 2 person dances that require certain moves and certain rhythms. Modern interpretive dance does not suit the DWTS theme…at least, not how the show has been presented in the past. If they’re going to open it up, it will basically be SYTYCD with “stars” rather than real dancers.

I’m not sure I’d like that. I think it’s fun to watch non-dancers struggle to learn basic dance steps and, in most cases, succeed admirably. Gives us all hope of looking pretty good on the dance floor of our nephew’s wedding.

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

November 11, 2008 10:59 AM | Link to this

good point, D. I’d not thought of it in that light. And i DO enjoy watching them learn. But to diss Lacey for choreographing a rhumba barefoot seemed extreme — they DID a rhumba — just with a slightly modern interpretation — i thought the “barefoot in the park” take on the romantic dance was exquisite, personally.

I get your point, too, linny. I think Len is anti-Lacey. That’s a shame. It may be that he’s not trying to protect the integrity of the show at all, and just trying to undermine Lacey.
