11/3: David Cook coming to Q100 concert December 15

2494672253_aa61f0b756.jpg

“Idol” winner David Cook is set to be part of a free Q100 concert December 15 at Center Stage. Center Stage only fits 1,000 people or so. It’s a great, intimate venue with no bad sight lines. Natasha Bedingfield (“Pocketful of Sunshine”) and O.A.R. (“Shattered”) are going to be there, too. Tickets won’t be on sale. “It will be on-air giveaways and we’ll have tickets at remotes and online,” said operations manager Rob Roberts. Tix will be general admission.

This concert happens two days before the Star 94 Jingle Jam at Gwinnett Arena featuring David Archuleta, Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw. While this annual Christmas concert has sold out quickly in past years, there are still plenty of great seats available. (I just checked Ticketmaster.)

Based on radio and concert popularity, the Q100 lineup is stronger. O.A.R. was able to sell more than 8,000 tickets alone just a couple months ago at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. And Natasha Bedingfield has four top 20 hits (“These Words,” “Unwritten,” “Love Like This,” “Pocketful of Sunshine’) and sold more than 1.5 million records.

-A public memorial was held Sunday in Chicago for Jennifer Hudson’s slain family members. Hudson did not attend but is set to be at a private memorial this morning. A cousin said Hudson will place her acting career on hold for now to help out her family.

-The Syracuse “Idol” blog caught up wtih former Atlanta resident Bo Bice. (Yes, his mom lives in Cumming now.)

During our interview, Bo told me his next CD will be a compilation of live performances, appropriately titled I Love the Road. The album will be available for presale December 1 on www.bobice.com. It is expected to be released before the end of the year.

He was also in Baghdad over the weekend on a USO tour.

-Atlantan Glenda Hatchett and former “Idol” Vonzell Solomon pounded the pavement for Obama in Fort Myers, Fla. over the weekend.

It’s nice to hear about former Idols supporting the troops!

Rodney…do you have a video of the 2 songs David Cook did on SNL?

Rodney, any chance of you meeting up with David Cook when he hits Atlanta?

Those vids are pretty elusive online. I think MJ’s big blog has them but I can’t embed them.

As for Cook, I’ll try to interview him prior to his arrival in town.

Awarding tickets as prizes and giving them away during promotional events is a good way to get a lot of Idol fans listening to Q100…at least, until they get a ticket.

Good Morning.

I know that I’m late in saying that, but it’s still morning, I think.

On Simon and Terri, in my opinion, he strikes me a a very selfish person and very set in his ways. He is away from home alot of the time and just wouldn’t have the time to be the parent that he should be to a child. I find it hard to believe that it took her 6 years to understand that he would not change his mind. There is an old saying, that you can’t change the spots of a leopard and Simon is just an example of this.

Don’t know what to make of UGA. Oh well, you can’t win every game. There is always going to be a winner and an loser. They just need to focus on the next game, see where they failed Saturday and not repeat it. They will be fine.

Thanks Rodney for the Bo mention. Although Bo never lived in Cumming, his mom, Nancy, does, and he did live in the Atlanta area for a few years growing up. He really does support the troops - this was Bo’s second trip to Irag.

Here’s something interesting from msn:

*Simon Cowell has confirmed that Britney Spears will appear on his British talent show, “The X Factor,” the Daily Mail reported on Sunday.

The pop princess will be performing her No. 1 single “Womanizer.”

“I’m really excited about it,” Simon told the Daily Mail. “She has her act together and the new record is terrific.”

He went on to note that Britney’s public comeback – which began in September with her triumphant appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she won three Moon Men – is a welcome return after a “dark” period.

“She has come back from a very dark place and is a terrific artist,” he said.

Britney’s appearance will reportedly come later this month.

As for Simon, he’s reportedly in good spirits after splitting from longtime girlfriend Terri Seymour.

He was “hugely relieved,” a source close to the “American Idol” judge told the Daily Mail*.

Just for the record, there’s nothing “political” about supporting our troops, WHEREVER they are. Get a freaking life, preferably somewhere far away from here…how about the planet Mercury?????

Well. Brooke and Derek were phenomenal and deserved every bit of the 10 they got! However, I think Len is a jerk sometimes — Lance and Lacey’s dance was exquisite! Her SYTYCD history gave her a sense of trying things a little out of the ordinary — Bruno and Carryanne got it totally, but Len…. grrrrrrr

and the Team Competition - OMG that Paso Doble was incredibly well done! My only regret is Lance and Lacey, even after doing SO well in the team — salvaging it for everyone, get only 20 — they deserve points from Susan and Cody!!!

oh well…

see you guys Tuesday —- if you haven’t voted please do…

Good Morning to All!!!!!!! Hope y’ll had a good night.

Will have to agree that Brooke and Derek were phenomenal last night and the perfect score was justified. The ChaCha group dance was awful and not well executed. However, the second group dance was fantastic.

Thank goodness we have seen the last of the campaign ads. I will be so glad when 7:00pm gets here tonight. If you haven’t already voted, get off your duff and DO IT! Your vote does count.

Gotta get busy and do some work. Will try to chat later today.

Morning!

I loved the Paso Doble team effort last night..it was fun to watch and well executed. I hope the Chacha team has proven without a shadow of a doubt that it’s time for Susan Lucci to go.

My son, who lives up in Forsyth Co. called and told me that he walked right in and voted…no lines. His county had about a 54% turn out for early voting and since that’s about the average % of voters in other national elections..maybe there won’t be any serious lines in some counties today.

By harrietth

November 4, 2008 8:47 AM | Link to this

There are already serious lines here, D. I passed a number of places where lines wrapped around the block.

I wish I could contribute to the DWTS conversation, but other than knowing I don’t like Lucci, I am not up on things there.

On another note, I saw in the paper this morning where Fantasia sang at Jennifer Hudson’s family’s funeral and was a huge comfort to Jennifer. She called them “my family.”

Here is the link to the funeral story. Apparantly, George Huff sang, too. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-hudson-family-funeral-1104-3,0,2265230.story

I’m not stating an opinion, and I’m aware this isn’t a political blog — however, I’m curious how some of you feel about this —

You know Obama’s grandmother, the one who raised him for a number of years, passed away yesterday at the age of 86, from cancer. With today being election day — if you were Obama, would you feel it necessary to sit around waiting to see who won, or would you say — i’ve done all i can do, the voters now have their say, i’m going to be with family. I know his people say he is “staying on track with the campaign because it would make his grandmother proud” — but at this point, IS there any point in “staying”??

I’m just curious how people might view this choice. I truly don’t have an opinion of my own yet — i’m trying to be objective, and i THINK i would choose family… because regardless of what party the man is, this is his grandmother, the woman who helped raise him.

is that too controversial a topic? if so, ignore me, LOL. i’ll be back in a while to see what’s up.

VOTE!

No use even commenting, linny. The blog will be hijacked all day with such stuff as we’ve already seen. Since I have better things to do than read venomous and cruel remarks, I will see you later. Same old stuff, just recycled from yesterday.

Since there can be no campaigning today, I don’t think his going to his family after he votes in his home state would be a problem. Thing is…other than his sister, who’s left? Is his grandfather still alive?

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

November 4, 2008 9:35 AM | Link to this

True, that, Deirdre. I don’t think his grandfather is alive, but I don’t know for sure. I don’t even know what he plans to actually do, so, maybe it’s all a moot question.
