11/1: David Cook on “SNL,” Simon Cowell splits from girlfriend

David Cook sang “Light On” and “Declaration” on “Saturday Night Live” tonight.

I’m watching him do “Light On” right now. He sounds great. I can’t say the song is a No. 1 hit but he proves why “Idol” voters gave him the winning spot. Great stage presence as usual.

“Declaration” seems to be a better song based on a single listen at 12:50 a.m.

-Check out Michael Johns dressed up as Wayne from “Wayne’s World.’

-Simon Cowell broke with his long-time girlfriend Terri Seymour, according to People.com.

The Daily Mirror in the U.K. broke the news but People got this confirmation:

“Terri phoned Simon and finished it in September, about six weeks ago,” says Cowell’s rep, Max Clifford. “They are going to remain close friends. Simon thinks the world of Terri and that isn’t going to change. He also understands her reason for ending it.’

He didn’t want kids. She did. They dated for six years.

Yes Cook did a good job with “Light On” but I don’t know what you are talking about when you say “stage presence.” He stood there, played his guitar, and sang. Maybe you should audition for an AI producer!

Interesting news regarding Simon. Maybe Michael Johns should have called up Jason Castro and had him dress up as Garth.

You’d think Terri would have taken Simon seriously sooner about not having kids.

RE SNL…great job from David Cook.

RE college football. Congrats to Tech. My condolences to UGA(what the heck happened???)

Morning!

Rodney In the comics section today you’ll find a reference to American Idol. The comic Daddy’s Home. It’s cute and probably somewhat true.

Watching the Falcons yesterday was VERY entertaining. :-)

Congrats to GT! Atlease one team in GA college football is worth something. The Dawgs are a disgrace.

Good morning. Hey, there is no disgrace in being beaten by a better team. I didn’t get the sense that UGA did not play its heart out in that loss. Disappointing, yes, disgrace, no way! Expectations were waaay too high in the preseason, that’s all. They are a great team still, and there are three more winnable games.

Mornin’ y’all…

Nana, thanks for the update. They sure have tighened those contracts since Kelly’s win. I seem to recall hers being only 2 years. I really had no idea that everyone fell under that. Oh, well.

I like David Cook, but that performance on SNL…it really didn’t do much to convince me. But I’ve only seen the first song, second one is on the DVR, for later viewing.

Wow, it took her six years to realize he didn’t want kids? I don’t know, but I don’t see him as a dad anyway. Hmm, he’s now single…isn’t Paula too? ;)

As far as football, I’m still figuring out where the Dawgs went ‘cause it surely wasn’t Jacksonville. :(

Good monday morning fellow blogsters. Man, that weekend went by fast! But the UGA/ FL game went by slow, as in torturously slow. I ended up not watching much past the beginning of 4th quarter, it was like our team didn’t show up to play… I did watch DC on SNL, and I thought he did a great job. Light On is a definate “sing-a-long” type song, but I really liked the 2nd one. Can’t wait for the cd.

Um, 6 YEARS?! Most women wouldn’t give him 6 months if you didn’t agree on that BIG THING - like children….

Hey, flats. Looking on the bright side—dawgs do not have to play Alabama for the championship!

Morning Mushbloggians… other than sports, hope you had lovely weekend… i tried to watch but by the 4th, i too was tired of cringing every time MS threw the ball; for some reason, it seemed like the FLA guys just were in his head — good preparation on their part! Their coach did a good job of fooling everyone into thinking they were distracted at Fla-land by the celebration last year — obviously they were watching a LOT of tape on Matt, Moreno, and Massaquoi.

I totally forgot that DC was on SNL and didn’t tape it … i think i was asleep or something :-( oh well.

not much to say about Terri ending it with Simon … 6 years is a LONG time to invest in someone knowing you can’t get what you want from the relationship…

catch you guys later!

I would bet that at first Terri enjoyed the spotlight and excitement of being Simon’s girlfriend. But, time has a way of diminishing that shine, and I am sure she began thinking about how she wanted to spend the rest of her life. Six years, though. Maybe she thought he’d change.

It wasn’t a jab. I was just happy they didn’t have to play Alabama again. No jab intended at all.

harrietth…I think you’re right. Maybe when she first started dating Simon she wasn’t interested in having kids but as time passes, those feelings sometime change. Maybe she hoped that he would change his mind, too.

D, yes, it was probably quite exciting to be Simon’s girlfriend in the beginning. But, lots can change in six years. Ego being what it is, I am sure she was like many people in thinking she could change him if she loved him enough.
