10/9: Kellie Pickler suffered year-long depression
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
People magazine apparently is the place for “American Idol” contestants to spill their guts. (Certainly it isn’t me!)
Kellie Pickler, whose latest CD debuted last week at No. 9 with 43,000 copies sold (compared to 79,000 for her first album but not a bad performance nowadays), suffered from a year-long depression, she told People.
[She] suffered severe reactions to anti-depressant pills after struggling with family problems and an emotional breakup from her boyfriend, hockey player Jordin Tootoo.
“Everything in my professional life seemed great,” says the former American Idol contestant, 22. “But in my personal life, I was just crumbling.”
Her dad had gone back to jail and she had to deal with her mom, subject of her song “I Wonder.” Her new boyfriend, Nashville songwriter Kyle Jacobs, had helped her balance her life again.
-Here’s Jennifer Hudson doing “Spotlight” on “Dancing With the Stars”:
-Here’s a roundup of how songs performed this week in Radio & Records on radio:
Jordin Sparks Her single “One Step At a Time” peaked at No. 3 on the Top 40 chart, with Pink’s “So What” supplanting it this week on the “Radio & Records” chart. It’s now at No. 4 and Leona Lewis’ “Better in Time” will supplant it next week. Download chart places the song at 43 with 43K sold and 790K total. “No Air” has now sold 2.51 million copies. Her album sold 5K and 927K total. It’s going to be a slow slog to 1 million.
David Archuleta and his song “Crush” is losing momentum. He only gained 125 extra spings this week and his song slips back to 15 from 14. It’s now sold 633K in downloads and ranks No. 16.
Daughtry with “What About Now” edges up to No. 19 from 21 with a modest gain in airplay as well. He has sold 7K for the week and 4.24 million total.
David Cook and his coronation song “Time of My Life” is dropping slowly, down to 38 from 36. The song is still top 3 on the Q100 countdown list here locally and No. 71 nationally in downloads (933K total sold so far). His new song “Light On” is just starting to get radio airplay but debuts at No. 8 on the download chart, according to Idol Chatter with 109,000 copies sold.
Carrie Underwood breaks into the top 5 as usual with “Just a Dream” at No. 4 on the country chart. It sold 21K on the download chart and 250K total. “Carnival Ride” sold 9K and 2.36 mil total.
Bucky Covington continues to gain airplay but slips back to 17 from 16 with “I’ll Walk.”
Kellie Pickler moves up to No. 25 from 26 with “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful.” It sold 9K and 95K total. Her likely next single (and guaranteed to be a bigger hit) “Best Days of Your Life” sold 8K.
Kristy Lee Cook gutted herself into the top 40 at No. 40 with “15 Minutes of Shame.” Her album in its third week sold just 2,500 copies and 16K total, falling off the Billboard top 200.
Josh Gracin is stuck at 48 with “Unbelievable (Ann Marie)”
Jennifer Hudson (who debuted at No. 2 on the album chart) holds at No. 6 on the urban chart with “Spotlight.” It remains at No. 1 on the urban AC chart. The new album boosted the single’s sales to 38 from 99 and 31K for the week and 177K total.

I agree!
I agree with everyone’s opinion on every subject today. I am trying to be non controversial and bi-partisan, it probably won’t last too long though.

Good Morning Bloggers! Hope you all had a great evening.
Pretty good numbers for the idols. Rodney did you mean to break them down 50 50? Half are country and the other half is pop/rock. Exactly equal.
Everyone be safe and drive careful going to work or where ever you need to go,

Good morning blogsters!! For flats - GO DAWGS!!!! Doesn’t it always seem this way - when you are taking a day or two off that you are unmotivated to do much work the day before. But you are so busy that day, you can’t think about it!? UGH!!! I am enjoying the rain. Rodney, I can’t believe Kellie didn’t open up to you. You could have been her shoulder!!!

I know this is not related to Idol news, but for those who have been keeping up with the Caylee Anthony disappearance in Florida, this was just now a breaking story on CNN that the state prosecutors are charging her mother, Casey Anthony with homicide. Way to go State of Florida!!!!!!!!!

flats, the only posing she will be doing is a new mug shot. I hope that if she did infact kill her daughter that she gets the punishment she deserves and the courts aren’t easy on her. My only wish is that little Caylee will be found and given the proper burial she so deserves. As linny stated, this indeed a very sad case for all involved.

Nana…that Casey Anthony is one sick individual. She has told so many lies, to everyone from her parents, boyfriends, co-workers, police and anyone else who will listen. She is indeed a sociopathic killer with no remorse whatsoever…It’s just poor me, look what I’ve been going thru… No more parties, beer, dancing, boyfriends, girlfriends!!! Wo is me !

Hey flats, did someone make you get rid of your dirty book collection recently?
By Nana

Casey Anthony doesn’t deserve the title of Mom. Not only is she being charged with a homicide, she is facing 13 counts of check forgery which can give her 65 years in prison. Hope she never is a free person again.

i don’t know a lot about the case, for some reason i’ve almost avoided reading about it (too traumatic, maybe, i dunno) but seems to me Casey not only has no moral fiber, her mother seems to enable her dysfunction. makes you wonder if she grew up with “my daughter is perfect she never does anything wrong” and just somehow never .. i don’t exactly know how to say what i’m thinking … i’m NOT excusing her behavior if she indeed has killed her child, etc., then she needs to pay the price. But what i’m wondering is HOW she got to be what she apparently is, you know?
NOT NOT NOT “what is the excuse” but “what is the reason” for this sort of behavior. If i were younger, i think i’d go into some sort of forensic psychology. i’m fascinated with the “why” of things.
ah well. like i said, it’s so sad sad sad.

Linny, I’ve avoided reading much about it too… there is a rage that builds up within me when I read about this type of crap.

^5 JT, you caught my feelings exactly. On the one hand I want to just grab such a person by the …. neck?…. shoulders and shake HARD… the other part of me wants to put them in a small cage and observe their obviously dysfunctional deviant behavior! if only to find a way to save horror from another child in the future by finding out WHY creeps do things they do. and stopping them first.
sigh
ok ok [linny says as she stops half way up her climb onto the soapbox, and slides back off, kicking the well-used red box back under the desk] i will stop before i get started …

Just wanted to let you regulars know that I may be out of commission tomorrow. I’m having a facet joint injection done in my lower lumbar spine and will be sedated for awhile. I much rather be at work, but you do what you must. I’ll chat with y’all later in the day.
So I will say now to have a safe drive in the morning and above all, be careful.

Nana, I don’t know what that means, but it doesn’t sound fun. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks JT.
A facet joint injection is an injection of an anti-inflammatory steriod in the facet joints. The facet joints are paired joints in the back/spine that have opposing surfaces of cartilage. Sometimes the facet joints become inflamed due to various reasons. I have a joint and bone degeneration disease that has caused two herniated disc, and three bulging disc at the present time. I will be given a numbing injection first and then be given an IV for sedation and pain to help me get through the procedure. For the first 24-36 hours afterward, I will have a good bit of pain in my lower back and legs, until the injection meds began to work. As you can see, this is not going to be a fun thing and am definitely not looking forward to having it done. If this will keep me out of the OR, then I guess its worth having. I will let y’all know how it goes.

And hello to you, too, WE! I guess we’ll hear more from you once the season starts again. Hope you and the new grandbaby are doing well!
