9/5: It’s video day with Ace Young, Jordin Sparks & David Cook
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Not much in the way of news so here are some random videos I scrounged up online:
-Ace Young inexplicably ran the Nasdaq opening bell Thursday morning. He joins “Grease” as Kenickie next week. When can I ring the opening bell???? And honestly, in this day and age, who actually needs an opening bell?
-MTV did a story in advance of this Sunday’s VMAs, interviewing the director for the VMA nominated video for “No Air” with Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks.
Chris Robinson, the video’s director, revealed that Sparks’ sheer determination made her a pleasure to work with.
“She’s focused and a worker,” he told MTV News. “She sang her heart out on every take for 18 hours. I told her to ‘take it easy, this is going to be a long day,’ but I think she only knows how to give everything her all. It’s refreshing to see that.”
I remember interviewing Jordin in February right before she went to shoot this video in New York City. The song was already showing signs of becoming a hit and ultimately hit No. 1.
The video on YouTube has been viewed a whopping 42.77 million times.
-This video is from the taping of “Oprah.” You can hear David Cook’s “Time of My Life” but the person was way too far back for you to tell much of anything going on otherwise.
-The Grand Rapids Pressd gave Ramiele Malubay one of the few raves I’ve ever seen. Perhaps the only one. I mean, who paid off this writer?
Teeny Malubay did impress with her outsized pipes though; without the nerves of competition her true talent shone through.

Good info… but we need a pronoun check on the Ace info.

Good Morning. Well, we finally made it to Friday. Thank goodness.
Enjoyed the DC video, although I wished it was a closeup of him and the camera were more steady. I will record Oprah Monday for sure.
To everyone who is driving into work, be safe and drive careful. Chat with ya’ll later this morning. I’m headed out myself.

Morning!
Rodney…I’m sure the “she” in the Ace/Nasdaq paragraph was an error but it was a pretty funny one.
I think I’m actually staying home today. Hubby and I bought one of those memory foam mattresses yesterday. It should get here next week and my hips and shoulders are really looking forward to it.

Good morning! Oooooh, I love those, D. I do not have one but have slept on one when visiting. Awesome!
I am grumpy, as promised, since my gamecocks lost our football game last night. We are definitely “dawg food,” for next weekend against UGA! LOL! However, as a Carolina fan, I have learned to live with disappointment. It’s only a game, after all!
harrietth speaks this heresy in very low tones, since she is on the Carolina campus and someone may be listening
Thanks for the videos, Rodney!

Good morning blogsters!! Happy Friday to you all! I thought the typo was pretty darn funny - don’t change it!!!
My “Summer Hours” are over, so it will be a long day today. Co-worker has decided to take another day off, so it will be crazy!!!

Deirdre - once you get that mattress, let me know how it is…I want to get a new one and those things look so freakin’ comfortable!!!

I too noticed the typo when I was reading the article, but at 5am I wasn’t to sure if I saw correctly, so I didn’t comment on it. Even the best makes typos.
D - I have a sleep by number mattress and really do like it. Haven’t tried the memory foam.
harrietth: Cheer up and have a good day. Just keep telling yourself the GC will do better the next time. After all, it’s only a game. There has to be a winner and loser.

I’ve been researching the foam mattresses for awhile. I was trying to find the best, most reliable. Then I looked at Consumer Reports and they said that the mattresses are all good as long as you buy quality and name brand. They said to go lie down on one for 15 minutes…people’s individual tastes vary when it comes to mattresses. We ended up buying the Simmons Comfor-pedic…..I’ll let you know what I think.
Nana, hubby tried a sleep number at a hotel and didn’t like it but that’s just him.

What is so inexplicable about Ace ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ? He has as much right as anyone to do so. And I very much doubt that he asked to do it. He doesn’t need to ring it to show what an awesome artist and human being he is. I guess you wish you could. If you cannot equal him in talent and accomplishment, maybe you should consider leaving the more knowledgable comments about Ace to those who have checked him out.

What is so inexplicable about Ace ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ? And why the slam on his masculinity? I think maybe you are jealous of his talent and accomplishments; having put out a great album; a Grammy nomination; having cohosted and performed at the MDA Telethon with Michael Lington, on whose recording of “Baker Street” he sings, and now “Grease. I think unless you can equal him in accomplishment, you should keep silent.

CFPhifan…relax sweetie. Take your finger off the post button and stop and think for a minute. #1…the “slam on his masculinity” was a TYPO. some of us laughed….forgive us our sins please. #2…Ace at the Nasdaq is a little strange and worthy of another laugh…again, forgive us. We KNOW he’s a nice guy. Just cuz you’re a big fan doesn’t mean you should lose your sense of humor.

Another Linny here. Typos happen. However, it’s not inexplicable. Ace is opening in Grease. He got the big New York welcome. This is huge for him and huge for the show. Give him a chance. Maybe you’ll see what you’re missing.

Linnymat…more Linnys are always welcome! :-)
There’s a difference between being nasty about the guy and joking about a situation involving him. Ace at the Nasdaq may be readily explainable(we’re not stupid ya know) but it’s still funny. He’s just not the type. The entire Idol crew from this year also rang the bell..we laughed at that one as well. While we’re all fans of one Idol or another..we try to maintain our sense of humor about him/her. They’re not gods from Mt Olympus…just people.

Sorry everyone, it is gasoline time. I think some people need a little dose of reality. It’s not like he has the lead in Grease. I’m glad that he gets to dance around and sing along with Greased Lightning, but come on his star was dim to begin with and it has only faded with time. Ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ, that was funny. The woman who introduced him was interesting though, let’s talk about her!

Welcome Linnymat and hope you decide to stay with us. As a whole, we are a pretty good bunch of people. At times we DO get vocal about one thing or another.
D: Well said. BTW, how is you mom (and you) adjusting to her being on her own?

Howdy Linnymat from Linny-Kat! welcome to the blog! I won’t bore you with what D already said, LOL, if I’d been here earlier, I’d have probably posted something similar about the same time she did… we do that a LOT!
CFPhiFan, relax, luv, it’s all in good fun!!! honest!!! we’re a good bunch, and actually some of us enjoyed Ace’s time on AI, and afterwards some of his appearances… tho I’m more of a Constantine Mouralis fan myself ~¿@ (actualy Bo was my guy, but hey, he’s not available, yanno?)

Okay ya’ll, I’ve just gotta do it.
A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time his smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, she had the man arrested. The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself. The man replied, “Well your honor, it was like this: When the lady got on the bus I couldn’t help but notice her condition.” She sat under a sweets sign that read, “The Double Mint Twins are coming.” and I grinned. Then she moved and sat under a sign that read “Logan’s Liniment will reduce the swelling,” and I had to smile. Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that read, “William’s Big Stick Did the Trick,” and I could hardly contain myself.
But, your honor, when she moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that read, “Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this accident”……. I just totally lost it.”
CASE DISMISSED!
::) Smile………………

It is time for me to call it a week. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Greg, we are still worried about you. Go talk to someone there where you live, if you don’t want to publicly discuss whatever is wrong. Anyway, you are in my thoughts as I leave for the day.
Take care everyone.

Good Morning Blogesters. Hope you all had a good weekend. Now, it’s time to face another week and may nothing but good things come your way.
I see that it was a very quite weekend as far as posting.
Congrats to the Dawgs, Tech and all the other winners.
Time for me to hit the road. To those who have to drive to the office, be careful and drive safe.
