9/1: Bo Bice, Ace Young on Jerry Lewis telethon

Rickey.org has video of Ace Young performing his ballad “You Redeem Me” at the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy telethon over the weekend. It’s a pretty good tune:

And here’s Bo Bice doing “See the Light”:

-In a gimmick first, Rachael Ray tried out for “American Idol” in New York a few days back. I know, I know. I’m sure nausea is setting in.

“We brought food and Ed McMahon and found our way in,” Ray told Hal Boedeker of the Orlando Sentinel. “We got criticized by Simon. We had a great chat with Paula [Abdul].”

-MTV spoke with Kevin Covais about his film “College.” This upcoming graf might also cause nausea of a different kind:

“I strip down to my underwear in the movie,” he said, tongue planted firmly in check. “Seriously, they should put that on the poster. See me stripped down to my tightie whities - how can people not go?”

Sadly, Covais’ R-rated college flick failed miserably in its opening weekend, with just $2.6 million in 2,123 locations for a modest $1,241 four-day average. With an average of four shows a day and, say, $8 per ticket, that means about 40 people per screening.

-I’m getting a sense David Archuleta’s “Crush” could become at top 10 hit on top 40. Locally, it’s now getting medium airplay on Star 94 (no. 14, according to Yes.com), though I haven’t heard it yet on Q100, which has become much more conservative about airplay the past year.
