8/27: More on the new judge Kara DioGuardi, Ace Young on Broadway

Ryan Seacrest got some more info about Kara DioGuardi on his KIIS radio show this morning via Paula Abdul.

“We’ve known each other for years since 1999,” Paula Abdul said. She ran into Kara in 1999 outside the Brooklyn Diner in New York. Kara was working at Billboard magazine at the time. They sat down and had a meal. “I talked to her. She told me she was an aspiring singer songwriter. I said, ‘Are you good?’ She said yes.” Abdul asked for her songs and she liked them. Abdul told her she is really good and told her to move to Los Angeles.

And Abdul roomed with DioGuardi for a year! Abdul hooked her up with all sorts of important people including the guys in Sweden who did those Britney Spears songs.

Listen to the interview here.

-MJ had a post about an ABC Radio interview with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, who worked on the upcoming Kelly Clarkson album. It appears that she is not going country if what he says is accurate:

Saying the sound of the record is “all over the place,” Tedder explains, ‘She’s gonna have really aggressive, in-your-face rock/pop, but she’s also gonna have orchestral, Mozart moments of classical rhythmic stuff. It’s great.”

I’m looking forward to it, whatever she does!

-Ace Young is taking the role of Kenickie on the Broadway production of “Grease” starting Sept. 9, two days after Taylor Hicks leaves as Teen Angel.

-Paris Bennett’s label Koch sent out a press release I never got about her Christmas album, coming out in October. Credit Idol Chatter.. Her baby is due then as well. The Christmas album is called “A Royal Christmas.” I guess cos she’s called “Princess P.”

linny…have a good time! :-)

Thanks for the info, Rodney. At least Paula seems to be friends with the new judge. Maybe Kara will be her ally.

Good Morning. Its hump day and the weekend is getting closer.

Ace should be good in Grease. Hopefully, he will last longer than Taylor, even though they have different parts.

Paula and Kara will be find as judges. Their frienship will help alot.

Good Morning Mushbloggians!!!! The wayward wanderer has returned. :-)

Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Not sure how many are watching America’s Got Talent, but I have to comment on an unbelievable performance from last night.

If you get the chance, go to You tube and search for Niel E. Boyd - Somewhere.

He is an insurance salesman, and easily weighs 400 lbs (he is huge), but OMG the man has the greatest voice I have ever heard.

He sings opera style, last night he sung Somewhere, and As much as I have loved some of our AI contestants — that last night was the single best talent show performance I have ever heard. The man is absolutely amazing.

Welcome back, Mike S. And good morning everyone. I agree that Niel Boyd is incredible! I do wonder how some of those (the cowboys, in particular) EVER made it to Las Vegas??

Someone confirm or deny for me - I saw 8 others were considered by the judges to come back to LV due to an injury by one of the contestants. Donald ? (the guy who lost his vocal chords and then came back to sing…) was the one brought back. I SWEAR I remember him being chosen as one of the top 40 at the time they made the final cuts. Did I just dream that - I was watching with my sister, and she remembers him making it through too.

Good morning blogsters! It is going to be one of those days - someone in my office just crowed like a rooster!!

What’s the difference between a musician and a savings bond? One of them eventually matures and earns money.

Welcome back Mike S. Glad to see you again.

I am in total agreement about Niel Boyd. Although, I really don’t care for opera, he sends cold chills up and down my spine. He is amazing and I hope he wins all.

Dawn: In answer to your question, if I’m not mistaken, the man who lost his v.c. was put through to LV, but was cut on the 1st round. Several of us on here made comments that he was cut when the 4 year old wasn’t and we didn’t understand the justification of it. If, however, I’m wrong, please someone with a better memory correct me.

Don’t forget, today is joke/story day, so lets hear them.

Hi y’all!

Rodney, thanks for the Kelly news! :) I went to MJ’s page and the comments were pretty positive. Apparently, it’s supposed to come out in Nov! Amazon says the 18th! I already can’t wait! So, I’ll probably be like flats and his “college balls!” Ha. (BTW, I can’t wait either, flats! Go DAWGS!)

I found it amusing that some people had the silly idea of her touring with Archie. Um, no. If that were to happen, I’ll still go, but I might have to hit the bar for the opening act. ;)

Good morning. MikeS, good to hear from you again. We’ve missed you! Donald B was cut and was among the eight that were selected for us to vote to bring back. He won, thus carrying on to the next cut. Unfortunately, and as much as I really like DB, he is in the same category as Neil, and that is why he was cut. Neil is just awesome—even better than the heavyweight opera-style singer who won BGT last year, Paul Potts.

Thanks Nana and harrietth for setting me straight on Donald. I still SWEAR I remember him being in the group that wasn’t cut. But, then I don’t rely on memory too much anymore!

For the animal lovers - here is my contribution to Nana’s joke of the day. My apologies for the length…

Excerpts from a Dog’s Diary: 8:00 am - Dog food! My favorite thing! 9:30 am - A car ride! My favorite thing! 9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing! 10:30am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing! 12:00pm - Lunch! My favorite thing! 1:00 pm - Played in the yard! My favorite thing! 3:00 pm - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing! 5:00 pm - Milk bones! My favorite thing! 7:00 pm - Got to play ball! My favorite thing! 8:00 pm - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing! 11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

Excerpts from a Cat’s Diary: Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. B*******! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now…

I missed last night’s AGT, i was over-exposed to gasoline and became violently ill for about 12 hours :-( — all is ok now, tho i haven’t tried to put anything into my stomach yet, LOL.

I’m glad that Donald made it back in the vote, although of the 8, at least 5 were worth bringing back IMHO. Just glad it was the sparks girl YECH!

here’s a bit of humor someone sent me this morning… don’t know if he’ll see it here or not, but thanks KPH, i thoroughly enjoy the stuff you send! and we miss you!

Bubba goes to the revival and listens to the preacher.

After a while the preacher says, “Anyone who needs to be prayed for should come forward to the front at the altar.”

Bubba gets in line, and when it’s his turn, the preacher asks, “Bubba, what do you want me to pray about for you?”

Bubba replies, “Preacher, I need you to pray for my hearing.”

The preacher puts one finger in Bubba’s ear, and he places the other hand on top of Bubba’s head and he prays and prays.

After a few minutes the preacher removes his hands, stands back and asks, “Bubba, how is your hearing now?

Bubba says, “I don’t know reverend, it ain’t until next Wednesday.”

In keeping with Dawn’s animal’s story, here is another. I will apologize in advance for the length of the story.

A Dog’s Purpose from a 6 year old

A veterinarian had been called to examine a 10 year old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners and their son were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle. The vet examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. He told the family there was nothing he could do for the dog, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure in their home. As the arrangements were made, the parents told the vet they thought it would be good for their 6 year old son, Shane, to observe the procedure. They felt he might learn something from the experience. The next day as the family surrounded Belker, Shane seem so calm, petting his pet for the last time, that the vet wondered if he understand what was about to take place. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. The vet and Shane’s parents sat togther for a while afterwards, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I kmow why.” Starled, the adults all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned them. They had never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”. The six year old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Moral of the story:

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly. Remember, if a dog was the teacher, you would learn things like:

When a loved one comes home, always run to greet them; Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride; Take naps; Thrive on attention and let people touch you; Avoid biting when a growl will do; When you’re happy, dance around and way your entire body; ever pretend to be something you’re not; If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it; When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently; and above all; Enjoy Every Moment Of Every Day

Again, I apologize for the length of this story.
