6/12: Clay Aiken wants more babies!

In Touch Weekly says Clay Aiken and his music producer gal pal want at least two children.. So this may not be the last time they go for artificial insemination.

“Clay will be a really good dad,” said Randy Jackson.

-And sadly, season five third-place finisher Vonzell Solomon has more or less disappeared since 2005. But she accidentally brought a (legal) gun to the airport and got caught, according to the Fort Myers News Press.

The gun was confiscated, and Solomon was issued a notice to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of carrying a weapon into an airport. Solomon does have a concealed weapons permit, but carrying it into an airport is a violation of that permit.

-A well-written profile of David Cook can be found here at Rollingstone.com. Annoyingly, the Web site (to get more page views?) splits it into three pages. I hate when Web sites do that!

“I don’t want to bite the hand that feeds me” is Cook’s standard answer when questions fly about Idol’s authenticity. But aside from criticizing the group numbers and a particular matador outfit he was forced to wear, Cook says he got what he bargained for. “There’s a vibe associated with American Idol, and the show’s not for everybody, just like anything else,” he says. “But I’m aware that I signed on the dotted line.”

And he added:

“I was never in it to win it, and that took some pressure off me,” he says. “If I’d gotten caught up in all that, I would’ve had a coronary.”

-And here’s a photo of Taylor Hicks you might find amusing.

i think that Clay has it in him to be a great parent. Not sure it’s “Daddy” that he’s more suited for, insofar as behavior is concerned, although biologically speaking of course he’s “father” … i just find it amusing that he wants so badly to BE a daddy, but doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in the … ahhhhhh… mechanics (snicker) … involved.

Oh brother. Taylor, how low can you gooooooo?

Thanks. When I get home, I will shoot an email to Rodney. Appreciate it.

Talyor looks like a big goof ball. You have to give the man spunk though to have his pix taken with his mouth wide open.

I to think Clay will make a great dad. Ones sexual preferences doesn’t take away from being a good parent. I will have to say that I think Clay was wrong in decking the reporter that congratuated him on the coming event. The reporter did not deserve that punch.

Have to give one more interview before I leave, so better get ready for it.

Be back later today.

As for Clay Aiken wanting babies, making babies, or donating to get babies - EEEWWWW! I just hate the pictures that form in my head. I’m feeling a little queasy again!

Why Clay for the artificial insemination? Who wakes up one day and says to themselves that a turkey baster full of sperm from a nerdy, temper tantrum throwing, androgynous person is what they need, not once, but twice? If I were female, the last place I’d want my egg swimming is in that gene pool.

I actually think Clay is a great guy, from his work with special ed kids to his great sense of humor. He’s intelligent and kind and a worthy candidate for fatherhood. It is not uncommon for gay men(if he is) to father children through artificial insemination. I commend him for his desire to be a father and for his good fortunate in finding a woman who would like to share the experience of parenthood with him.

For me it has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Sometimes artificial insemination is done for fertility purposes, sometimes it’s for convenience, and sometimes for something else. However, I can think of quite a few gay men who have traits that I’d rather see passed on to the next generation over Clay. Do you think he watched a video or looked at some magazines while he was filling the cup?

D, some people just don’t see that aspect of it, apparently. BUt i do have to say i see JT’s point as well… i mean… well, i’m just sayin’… um… —no, i’m kidding. i think it’s great he has a friend who obviously values HIM as a person and a friend, and vice versa — i just hope that 10 years down the road it doesn’t lead to serious custody/psychological problems! that to me should always be a consideration — we’re friends NOW but will we be friends in 10-12-14 years when the teenybopper needs our support???

On the parentage of Clay, a child may be better off with him and Jamie as parents than some children are with their parents. I do not see any child of his being abused sexually, mentally, physically or, God forbid, worse. Any children by the two of them will be wanted and loved. That is the point of having children. You have them BECAUSE you want them. So many gay people will adopt and will never experience the birth of their biological child and will miss the greatest miracle on earth. Clay will get to have this experience and joy that you can only have by seeing your own flesh and blood child be born. To know that you created that life is beyond any words that anyone can describe. I commend him for making the decision to have children, even if it is through different means. This in no way makes him any less of a father. I fully understand what JT was saying because I have a niece that had to conceive through artifical insemination. Hers was a medical issue that prevented her from going through the natural process and she now has 11 y/o twin boys. I wish CA and his lady friend best wishes for a very healthy baby.

Good Morning to all. Hope all of you had a good night and are ready to face Friday the 13th. Been in my office for an hour and I am already ready to go home. 4:00 can’t get here soon enough.

Morning!

We didn’t have any storms in my part of the state, Menana. Sorry you didn’t hear the elimination. I looked it up at mj’s and Rayven & Jamie went home.

Looking forward to tonight when both my boys will be here for a Father’s Day dinner!

D that’s cool! i don’t know if all my boys will show up — they BARELY did for mom’s day; dad’s less impressed with “special days” including b’days, so we don’t do a lot.

The first couple that did the hip hop routine with the pants coming down - both of them are now gone. Sorry, I don’t remember their names yet. Nigel thought there was a chance that the audience could have been offended by that move. Who knows. I thought the girl in the long red dress should have been gone - but they praised her the other night.

Happy Friday the 13th, Everyone!!!

Thanks D and L. They weren’t the couple that I thought was going. It’s funny how they were both eliminated since they were partners.

D: Hope you have a good time with your boys and enjoy the day with all your men.

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 13, 2008 10:29 AM | Link to this

I thought for sure the last couple, the disco dancers, would be eliminated, but they were not in the bottom 3 couples … what was surprising was that the couple that did the Tango - Will and Jessica? not sure if i have the names right — WERE in the bottom 3 — that was WEIRD. But both Rayven and Jamie seemed just a little lackluster in their “dance for my life” solos — Rayven is a ballet dancer, and for her solo, she danced “demi-point” instead of full point — disappointed the judges a lot, i think.

i think last year quite often it was both partners eliminated — more than i would think would happen based on “odds-making” i’d have to look back, don’t have time to do that now, and computer network at home is giving us problems — all of a sudden the router isn’t routing, and only 1 computer at a time is being recognized :-( — we bought a new router, but it’s doing the same thing — my son swears that Charter is sending a signal to prevent splitting at a router, but i think he’s just paranoid.

anyone got any ideas on what to try, please let me know! we configured each of the computers and the router for the ip address; but still are only getting one on the network at a time — first one to log in to the network gets the line as if it were dedicated :-(

enough of my woes!!! see you guys later!

Friday the 13th, geez…I almost forgot the date was the 13th. Rained all over my house on the East side of Athens last 2 days…so let it be the 13th, just look out for the black cats.

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 13, 2008 10:58 AM | Link to this

WP if you’re on the east side, then we truly MAY be neighbors!!! but all i have are orange, white, or orange and white cats…

in years past, hubby has had excellent luck on the 13th (for years he always found money — not just coins — one year a $20 when he was a kid, lol — that must have seemed HUGE back then!)

we got a little rain both nights, last night’s didn’t seem all that great unfortunately. once again, i put in a gardenia JUST as a drought decided to hit, lost this year’s attempt :-( i love those bushes, but it appears that the gardenia is NOT something i’m supposed to grow!!

June 13, 2008 11:20 AM | Link to this

Morning, all. linny, you need some of my gardenias. Someone who did yard work suggested I put in dwarf gardenias, and, boy, are they prolific! They spread out everywhere and the blooms were so numerous I could not believe it. This is the first year they have had so many blooms. And, I did not know they spread out like they did. Am not much of a gardener at all. We had lots of rain, but the gardenias were already well-established and loved it.

My wife planted 6 gardenia bushes along the front of our house last year, and 2 weeks ago, you couldn’t hardly breathe cause they all had hundreds of blooms at once. It was a great smell tho. I live actually in Oglethorpe just across the Clarke line sort of.

“Musicians sue Idol in Royalties Dispute”

A musicians union has filed a federal lawsuit against the producers of American Idol claiming musicians were underpaid because the show’s live music was re-recorded for reruns.

The American Federation of Musicians filed the suit seeking unspecified damages Thursday in US District Court in Los Angeles, alleging that AI Productions Inc and the subsidiary Tick Tock Productions Inc violated a collective bargaining agreement. That contract states the show’s musicians should be paid royalties for rebroadcasts of the show, the lawsuit said.

The producers are required to pay 75% of scale to musicians who appear in the original show and rehearsals, plus 10% of that pay to a union pension fund with decreasing percentages for each broadcast, according to court papers.

In 2007, the producers started cutting out the show’s soundtrack and using different musicians to re-record new music for the past season highlights show “American Idol Rewind”, the lawsuit said. The union was not informed of the recording, according to court papers.

Phone messages left Thursday night with a representative for AI Productions were not returned.

Sounds like AI producers has gotten themselves in some hot water. Wonder how they will sweep this under the carpet?

linny, you are right. And the atmosphere is so charged right now where the music business is concerned. All the stuff about music piracy and artists not getting paid for their work. Everyone is on high alert about it. It sounds like it is about residual pay, which is only fair. Wonder how AI found themselves in this pickle? You’d think their legal brains would have warned the producers.

help! the world is shrinking!!!!

LOL!!!!

Menana, WP, we’ll have to get the famblies together somewhere, lol!!!

actually there WAS one Gwinnett’s finest on 85 who DID let me go — tho he didn’t at first, he later cancelled my ticket!!! i’d had brake problems right at the HOV beginning — was coming off 316 so there was NO way i was going across 85 to get out of traffic, and pulled into the HOV to then pull into the E-Lane — there was an obstacle getting into the E-Lane right away, so i had to sort of weave around it, he thought i was trying to “hide” from him by going back into regular traffic, LOL… what had happened was the brakes had overheated and suddenly just lost their pressure — i was SPOOKED. once the car cooled down, i could drive on and get off the highway … i guess he watched me or something, because i had a voice mail on my phone that night that said he had rescinded my ticket!!!

wish i’d gotten his name, LOL!!! of course, it was illegible on the ticket!

According to In Touch the “act” for Clay and friend was IVF (In-vitro not artificail insemination)IVF is commonly used for any person who has a difficult time becoming Pregnant (I would assume that after 23 years of marriage and no children and being near 50 this falls into that group)and the process is used by many couples today to address infertility issues……Clay will be a great dad and like Demi and Ashton the age issue is becoming less of an issue today…..
