5/30: Sanjaya does a Nationwide ad

Nationwide Insurance is doing an ad with Sanjaya mocking his hair. Here’s more info:. Or you can access behind the scenes video here.

-Jason Castro has a lovely homecoming in Rockwell, Texas.

Teenage girls were nearly reduced to tears when they saw Mr. Castro and his signature brown dreadlocks. “Oh my gosh! I touched his hair!” squealed 16-year-old Jennifer Walthall.

This is rather short because I’m in New York today goofin’ around and just taking just a momentary break to see what’s floating around. Not much apparently! I’ll add more tomorrow if I have time. Have a great weekend y’all!

y’all have a great weekend! see ya!

ah, and… from an article The sister of music mogul David Foster may — or may not — be pregnant with pop crooner Clay Aiken’s child. Celebrity gossip website TMZ reported yesterday that Victoria-resident Jaymes Foster is due in August with the former American Idol star’s baby. But Foster’s former sister-in-law says the rumour is “ridiculous.”

“Jaymes is definitely pregnant, that much is true,” said B.J. Cook, the ex-wife of David Foster. “I can guarantee that it’s not Clay Aiken’s baby.”

Could THIS be what Clive was referring to when he spoke of the ‘biggest star in the world’?

MICHAEL Jackson pulled out of a huge TV comeback – with stagefright. Jacko, 49, was to sing live on the final of American Idol in front of a TV audience of 27 million. But 24 hours before the show in Los Angeles he bottled out, saying: “I can’t do it. Everyone will hate me.” A source said: “This was his big chance but he got stage-fright.” Spice Girls guru Simon Fuller is helping Jacko with his comeback, say insiders.

What a fabulous weekend. I am so sad it is over….But I have watched LOST - I am prepared to discuss!!!

By harrietth

June 2, 2008 8:56 AM | Link to this

Good morning, all. Just an FYI thing, but I saw Sex and the City over the weekend and loved it. I was not a SATC fan when it was on HBO, but through the series being shown on various cable channels over the past few years, I got hooked. Just enjoyed it, that’s all. As for Lost, I am ready, too!

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 2, 2008 9:19 AM | Link to this

Rodney? you home yet? did you find a way to watch Lost because we’re ready to discuss it but won’t till YOU have watched this season’s finale!!!

Right, linny. I forgot Rodney had not seen it. Absolutely don’t want to spoil it for him.

June 2, 2008 9:50 AM | Link to this

WELL i checked … the LOST finale, all 3 hours, is now available for streaming at the ABC.COM website — now we just have to get Rodney home from N’Yawk or Joisey or where ever he is now (sorry just couldn’t resist) and make him sit down and watch the show, LOL!!!

in other news … um … it’s monday. severe weather never hit athens, not even a little shower … much to my dismay … um … er … news? haven’t heard from flats this morning, hope he’s not back in jail … pappy and i may just be “neighbors” …

bye now, LOL…i’m thru ramblin’ for a little while…

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 10:08 AM | Link to this

Rodney has seen the Lost finale….he just missed about 15 minutes of it so we’re free to chat! :-)

Lara..glad you had a great weekend!

As for, SATC, I will see it this Friday on my day off…I was a BIG fan while it was on HBO and am looking forward to the movie.

NOW….Lost…I loved the way we got to go back to the first flash forward and see what happened…and Locke in the coffin was a HUGE surprise to me. And Penny rescuing them and helping them to deceive the world…very cool!

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 2, 2008 10:25 AM | Link to this

Lost

I loved the Penny-Desmond connection being made — but i want to know if THEY were able to maintain without problems — it seems everyone ELSE (the 6, plus Ben, plu — obviously NOW — Locke) are having major problems

and i want answers about Richard!!! He’s not aged since Ben was a child — who IS he?? WHAT! is he?

and yes, Locke in the coffin was a total shocker!!! of course the path “back” to the island for the next at LEAST 2 seasons is wide open because of the “He said horrible things have been happening and we HAVE to go back” comments, which we now know was Locke visiting the O-6…

aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

On another topic, it appears Nashville Star will now be on NBC! I believe it starts on June 9th; I also America’s Got Talent (AGT) being advertised, that’s always fun .. such a wide variety of people who THINK they are talented … and some ARE!

so the summer won’t be a total loss… at least there ARE some shows that won’t be re-runs, and before we know it, hopefully Lost and a few other old faithfuls will be back!!!

later!

By harrietth

June 2, 2008 10:26 AM | Link to this

D, Locke was a surprise to me, too, although someone raised the possibility. I look forward to seeing that played out. And the Penny thing was cool. I thought Hurley recognizing Walt was cool, too. Just sort of matter-of-factly he says hello to Walt, taking no note of Walt’s having aged at all.

By Lara

June 2, 2008 10:27 AM | Link to this

I am confused - 3 hours? I only had 2 recorded. I wonder what I missed. Locke in the coffin totally threw me - but what was really confusing to me was where his neck went - THE GUY HAD NO NECK!!! I was a little confused on the timing - was this argument with Jack and Kate before or after they lived together?
Did you hear that Hugo was playing chess with Mr. Echo!? Wonder if that means he will come back next season? I miss Charlie!!! I loved it that Penny rescued them. I wondered how they pulled off Desmond being on the chopper… I hated to see the boat blow up!

Was Walt played by the same kid actor grown up a little?

By Lara

June 2, 2008 10:32 AM | Link to this

I set my TiVO up to record Nashville Star. But I am going to avoid the whole America’s got Talent thing.

I am really looking forward to The Mole tonight!!

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 10:38 AM | Link to this

Lara…they repeated the first hour from 2 weeks before.

I recognized Walt right away…yeah, he was older but he had the same face.

I thought moving the island was pretty cool too.

Lara, the argument between Kate and Jack was after they lived together and he left because she was ‘keeping a promise’ to Sawyer. That was when Jack started going downhill…as evidenced by the unkept beard and the glassy eyes.

I think Locke must have talked to ALL of them at one point.

And what was up with Jack’s dead dad showing up in the cabin where the explosives were and saying…you can go now, Michael?

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 2, 2008 10:41 AM | Link to this

Lara, sorry… technically the finale was a 2 parter - first, 1-hour segment, then they skipped a week because of grey’s finale, then a 2-hour finale finale.

and i miss Charlie too :-( ..

and about Desmond, remember, when they were rescued by Penny — Jack says “we need to talk” then skipped to them getting on the liferaft — Des stayed with Penny on the “Searcher” — said he didn’t mind staying “hidden” as long as he could be with Penny… who OBVIOUSLY has no use for her father at this point!!! I assume they came up with their cover story … the lies they have been telling that are driving SOME of them nuts to continue telling…

What I want to know is What Is Sun Up To?? Going to see Poppa Widmore (or whatever his name is) … she’s already put her own dad under control (and i thoroughly enjoyed THAT scene)

whew

how does anyone get anything done… trying to figure out Lost is a full-time job!!!

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 10:49 AM | Link to this

I think Sun is after revenge…she thinks both her father and Widmore are responsible for Jin’s ‘death’(not sure he IS dead)and has a plan…don’t know what it is but…she only seems to talk to Hurley…I think she’s pretty p.o’d at jack too.

By Lara

June 2, 2008 10:50 AM | Link to this

I LOVE how Sun has stepped up and taken control. But what is she doing talking to Mr. Whitmore? Is she going to try to find Jin?

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 2, 2008 11:26 AM | Link to this

i agree not sure Jin IS dead — he was ALMOST to the end of the boat — could have been blown into the water.

i’m missing Charlie and Claire — i know Claire will be back around, we get perhaps a glimpse of her thru Kate’s eyes — and yes, Jack said “Sun blames ME…” when he was listing the 6 and how he couldn’t get them all to agree to go back…

Hurley seems to think he’s actually dead, right, that they are in “hell” and no one is really alive, that’s why he can see charlie … that’s a theme that cropped up on the island, too… they they were actually dead and this was all some sort of hallucination or something.

the Walt re-connection is kind of cool too.

oh heck…a person could go on for HOURS rambling about this…

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 11:42 AM | Link to this

The writers’ of the show have heard the ‘they’re all dead’ theory and deny it.

We know that they crashed in 2004 and that at least 3 years have past since they returned to civilization. I can haul out a time-line again if y’all need one. That would explain why Walt is a teen now instead of a tween(I think the boy who plays Walt has had a growth spurt…remember, we haven’t seen him in 2 years except for an occasional misty apparition) Walt also drew the polar bear in the first season and seemed to be able to predict(a little) what would happen. I think he’s one of the keys to this story.

June 2, 2008 11:45 AM | Link to this

Sun told Widmore that there were more than six that got off the island, or something to that effect. So, do you think the people on the raft were the ones she’s talking about?

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 12:07 PM | Link to this

No…I think she was referring to Ben and Locke although I’m not sure how she’d know that Ben got off the island. It was probably after Locke tried to talk her into returning to the island, shortly before he died.

By harrietth

June 2, 2008 12:28 PM | Link to this

So is she helping Widmore, as he thinks she is?

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 12:35 PM | Link to this

I don’t think ‘helping’ him is what she has in mind. I don’t know what she’s doing but she knows that Widmore sent the boat that blew up with Jin on board and I think she’s looking for revenge.

And in a brief nod to the blog’s actual purpose, Katharine McPhee was at the MTV Movie Awards last night as a presenter with the other ladies who are in her movie The House Bunny. Also, she is working on another film:

Katharine McPhee and Wes Bentley are starring in the indie psychological drama “The Storyteller,” which Robert Angelo Masciantonio is directing for Feverpitch Pictures. Anita Briem also is on board.

Bentley, repped by WMA and Untitled, plays a writer who goes on a downward spiral when his father dies, causing his assistant (McPhee) to start investigating whether his muse as well as narrator for his stories (Briem) is a figment of his imagination.

But if Widmore does know who Sun is, why does he think she is offering to help him? And what became of the raft people who were motoring away from the island?

By mvt

June 2, 2008 1:59 PM | Link to this

who was on the raft? Any key people besides that weird scientist dude?

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 2:08 PM | Link to this

I don’t think Widmore believes that Sun is offering to help him…he’s too smart for that…but I think he believes he can get info from her.

I think the only key person was the weird scientist guy… on the raft. We never saw whether or not the raft made it back to the island, did we?

By Deirdre

June 2, 2008 2:15 PM | Link to this

Mike…sad news!

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 2, 2008 2:37 PM | Link to this

no, we never saw whether the weird science guy (who was the one who was studying time travel, btw) was back to the island; i tend to think NOT … but where they’d be, I don’t know.

D, i have referred to the time line quite a few times over the last few weeks, LOL, hoping it would help.

not sure it DOES…

yes, Walt WOULD be a teenager now, that makes total sense. Richard, the ageless guy (along with Abbadon, the bald black guy who also hasn’t aged) are the intriguing ones to me.

I don’t think Widmore thinks Sun is helping him… in fact, i think he probably realizes, since she’s taken control of Paik’s (her father) company, he better watch his back with her. BUT having said that, i think he underestimates both Sun AND Penny (HIS daughter) and ultimately maye Sun and Penny will get together somehow, LOL!!!

pappy… i’ve been trying like crazy to figure out how to find out where you work without giving out any info on you OR me … any ideas on clues we can give each other without the world “finding” us???

Rodney, hope your trip was a good one and that you got some well-deserved relaxation in! although, i have to say i don’t know how “relaxing” a visit to NYC is, LOL!

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

June 2, 2008 2:39 PM | Link to this

p.s.

at least Sawyer DID make it to the island

and indeed, sad news for the Rock’n’Roll world …

what is sadder is that there will be a whole group of folks out there who have no CLUE who Bo Diddley is/was! RIP!

By Lara

June 2, 2008 2:59 PM | Link to this

It is very sad that Bo Diddley is gone. What a great loss for the music world.

By harrietth

June 2, 2008 3:27 PM | Link to this

But, Widmore said “why would you want to help me?” Why did he say that if he didn’t believe it?

And, Bo Diddley! What a talent. I am giving away my age now, but I saw him in concert at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium (Greenville, SC)somewhere around 1960. I actually met him, too. There was a stage door at the back that some of us teens knew about, and we would hang out after the show to get autographs. Diddley finished first, so we rushed out to meet him. He sat on his amp with a white rag tied around his head and was just wrung out physically from his show. We asked if he were “Mr. Diddley,” and he replied “Yes, child. What’s left of him!” I never forgot how nice he was to a bunch of fans. I lost my autograph book, but my friend Sandra still has hers, after all these years!

“That poor kid better pack up and move away from them before they ruin his career before it even starts!”

ruin his career…how about before they ruin his whole LIFE???? dayum!!!

Archie said if he couldn’t be a singer he wanted to go into medicine (E-N-T) probably as a direct result of his vocal paralysis a few years ago. I say KUDOS to the kid for that, and hope he’s strong enough to make it… but i HONESTLY and sincerely feel that if he stays under Jeff and Lupe’s thumbs, he will always stutter, stammer, and be a tad breathless — there’s psychological damage done already!!! just my “uneducated” opinion, but based on many years of observation of folks…. well…

i’m just sayin’!

By harrietth

June 2, 2008 3:43 PM | Link to this

linny, I’m with you—a lot of damage has already been done, IMO. He has the whipped puppy look at times, and no wonder, with parents like his. I am sure he has spent his whole life trying to please.

Widmore sent the mercenaries to capture Ben and kill everyone else. Widmore put a plane at the bottom of the ocean loaded with bodies so other people would stop searching for the lost flight. Widmore will say or do anything to get what he wants. Whatever that is! :-)

Re Archie…the poor kid has a lot of expectations put on him by his parents. He has no idea how that affects him. I saw a Today show interview with him when he was 12 and on Star Search…he was more articulate then than he is now…it’s a little scary.

D, I realize the diabolic nature of Widmore, but he seemed genuinely surprised by what Sun said to him, and his question seemed to be asked without guile. It was out of character. He almost followed her in his haste to ask “why would you want to help me?”
