5/28: David Cook dating Kimberly Caldwell

Happy Wednesday to y’all!

David Cook confirmed on “Live With Regis & Kelly” yesterday that he had a date with Kimberly Caldwell, a season two contestant who now hosts a couple of shows on the TV Guide Channel. Cook was one of the few single contestants (besides virginal Archuleta) on the show this past season.

-This is old news but Bo Bice’s second child will be named Caleb, he told People. His first song Aidan is two. Hard to believe but Bo is now 32 years old.

-Carrie Underwood claims she’s too busy right now to date. “If I found something worth finding by now I would have made time for it, but right now I’m so busy I don’t need a boyfriend,” she told “Fox News.” “This year is the year for me to be on the road and focus just on myself. That’s what I want.” Carrie’s previous beaus include Chace Crawford of “Gossip Girl” fame and quarterback Tony Romo.

Her single “Last Name” is at No. 7 on the country charts and still climbing. Surprisingly, after more than six months on the charts, Josh Gracin’s “We Weren’t Crazy” has gutted its way into the top 20.

And David Cook’s coronation song “Time of My Life” was picked up by 59 top 40 radio stations last week, including Q100, which has spun it 22 times in the past week. Jordin Sparks’ “No Air” has peaked at No. 2 and is now slipping down the charts. Will “One Step at a Time” become her third hit single? That song will have to go top 10 for her to have a chance of selling 1 million copies of her CD.

Carrie, Jordin and Daughtry all sold about 20,000 copies each of their latest CDs this past week, seeing sales growth thanks to the “Idol” finale and subsequent publicity, although Daughtry wasn’t even there.

-Jennifer Hudson gabs with USA Today about her love of purses and her new album prior to the debut of the film version of “Sex & the City.”

Q: Tell me about your self-titled album, which comes out in September. What are the key songs?

A: “Spotlight” is a pop feel, kind of clubbish. It’s a hot track. Then we have “Pocketbook,” which is sassy. It reminds you of Louise [her film character], because she’s loving purses. “Happy Place” is one of my favorites. People who know me will know what songs I had a whole lot to do with, because they’re sassy.

The real question: Did DC do her? My guess…didn’t. He seems to be the methodical type. He’ll do her on date 3.

LOL D… i understand!

Hubby and I DVR a number of shows because we both like to watch them and he works nights. So we had, sunday and monday, the finale shows for CSI, CSI:NY, CSI:Miami, NCIS, W/o a Trace; Criminal Minds; L&O, L&O:SVU, and maybe a couple more… anyway… especially the Bruckheimer shows— every one of them was a “Noooooooooooo!” ending. Watching all of those in 2 days was devastating…. i have NO idea except for SYTYCD what i will DO this summer, LOL! ESpecially with Lost tomorrow night….O!gawd!!!

I heard about a month ago, how Kimberly C. was soooo hot for Cook, that she wanted to have his baby! And this was BEFORE his BIG WIN!!! She won’t be an easy one to get rid of.

cook please wait a little while and do not get hooked so quick with the blondie (she seems does not fit you)…you want some of us to believe that you are different from the usual artist in the music business…concentrate on your music first!!!

Aw…let the guy have some fun..it’s not like they’re getting married tomorrow…..dating…he likes her, she likes him…y’all remember? He’s been working and under huge pressure for the last 4 months…he’ll be heading out on tour soon….if he needs to get la…wait, let me rephrase that…if he needs a little female companionship, she’ll do just fine. :-)

I agree with you, Deirdre…he was single when he started on the show, who knows how long he was single before that? The pressure is off a bit, he probably needs another kind of distraction right now…and I don’t blame her either, he has been attractive to me since I found out he was obsessed with crossword puzzles…what can I say? I am a librarian :-)

Missed blogging today. Have been at a meeting all day. I missed Idol terribly last night, too. Have to teach tonight, so maybe I won’t miss it too much then. However, I am looking very forward to Lost tomorrow night. Bye for now.

Morning!

I just read a little piece in the paper about Sex and the City. Jennifer Hudson’s acting, according to the writer, proves she needs to be singing.

LOST!!!! TONIGHT!!!!

I watch Hell’s Kitchen. I wonder what is wrong with these so called chefs….I can cook a steak and eggs for crying out loud!

By Negativo

May 29, 2008 8:44 AM | Link to this

Lara, many of the chef contestants are short order cooks from low income districts. Tossing them into fine food preparation is way over their heads.

I’d love to see idol eliminate in a similar way. Having a contestent choose the bottom two, and then having the Chef boot the one he wants to eliminate. It allows for them to avoid the politics that usually plagues reality shows.

By woodpappy

May 29, 2008 8:53 AM | Link to this

No Hell’s Kitchen for me…I see the advertisements and wonder why people would let someone scream and yell at them like that. If it were me cooking for that guy, he’d be missing a few teeth when he started his tirade.

I watch Hells Kitchen also and agree with you Neg. on the voting process. It has to be tough to work under the pressure of Chef Ramsey. If he was my boss and acted that way there would be some bloodshed! :-)

By Negativo

May 29, 2008 9:06 AM | Link to this

Pappy, what I like about him is he doesn’t pimp anyone or show favoritism. If you do wrong he rips you, if you do well he will compliment you. As far as the brutal language, they know what they will be getting when they sign up. If you liked the “Full Metal Jacket” drill seargent you’ll love this show.

If I want to hear someone yelling at other people, all I have to do is go visit my in-laws in NY! :-)

Seriously, it’s obviously a good show…it’s been running for a number of seasons. That kind of stuff just makes me uncomfortable.

But it’s interesting to read about(except for the lost thumb tip part).

No for me, too, on HK. I cannot imagine allowing someone in my face like that, without wanting to kill someone—at least figuratively, if not literally.

By Deirdre

May 29, 2008 10:02 AM | Link to this

harrietth..I’ll try to catch the Davids on youtube.

I guess I don’t watch Hell’s Kitchen for the same reason I don’t like the early auditions on Idol. People are demeaned and made to look foolish…I get that they volunteered for it…I just don’t get why.

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

May 29, 2008 10:24 AM | Link to this

anyone watch SYTYCD auditions last night? while Nigel and Mary can be JUST as cutting and mean-sounding as Simon, they have a tendency to also have “heart” … there was a young man with Downs on last night “representing” for the people with special physical circumstances — and all the judges were kind, but NOT patronizing to him — and encouraged him and thanked him for being brave enough TO “represent” … the kid was a toughie, LOL… and yet, when someone is just obviously ‘punking’ them to get their moment of shame … er … fame? — they are no holds barred about jumping all over them.

and maybe its because it’s a newer show, but i do NOT hear the same old same old cliches dancer after dancer — they try to give honest criticism, both constructive and judgmental — and do not hesitate to tell someone “you are not a dancer” — and equally that “you have potential but need more training” or “you move well, you have the music in you, but it was not done well—get some choreography, some training, and come back next year” …

i’m thoroughly enjoying it, LOL!!!

By harrietth

May 29, 2008 10:46 AM | Link to this

linny, I do not watch that show—at least at this stage. It is the kind of show I can take or leave, but do like to watch as it gets winnowed down. These early folks are not entertaining to me, and, sort of like D said, set themselves up for being demeaned.

By KPH

May 29, 2008 10:49 AM | Link to this

I find that the judges on SYTYCD for the most part are having a blast and are loving what they are doing. The judges on AI seem to have to push themselves at times and look very uninterested. I am not into dance that much but I do enjoy watching the show. Oh and talk about eye candy whew wee! Much more than on AI LOL!

By Deirdre

May 29, 2008 11:06 AM | Link to this

On hell’s kitchen, most of the contestants are executive chefs or at least people who have been working in restaurants for a few years. Last year was the first time they had someone from waffle house - considered “lower” than the rest of the peeps on there and she was awesome. I think Chef even told her when she was eliminated that he would pay for her to go to culinary school! I don’t think I could take someone yelling at me like that, but I understand why he does it. He wants someone to run his restaurant who can remain calm under pressure and any circumstances.

I did watch SYTYCD last night. I am a little surprised we haven’t seen as many B-boys and girls trying out this year. They seem to be letting a lot of cute blonde girls through to Vegas though! Will the girls out number the guys? I don’t understand when they love a dancer, and they all say “yes, yes” and then Nigel says “we will see you in choreography”? confusing…

By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

May 29, 2008 11:56 AM | Link to this

Lara, to respond in more or less reverse order — I think Nygel retains “final say” on the auditions, so that even if the other judges say yes, he can ask to have them return for choreo that evening. I sort of like that, because while he IS in control, he’s not all “I’m the boss” like Mr. Cowell gets…

Cute blondes, yep, seems a lot of those this year, but we still have more cities to visit, so it may change — except for LA, the places they’ve been so far are not all “that” B-dance or street dance type towns… i think it will change over the next few cities we see …

and how ABOUT that blonde that was on first last night whew even I had to admit she was a hottie, LOL.

re HK - i love it that he ended up respecting the WH cook as a potential chef — i’ve got a LOT of admiration for someone who can take the “heat” of a busy waffle house pre-dawn rush (being in a college and country town, and with hubby being in the bar industry, i meet him for breakfast a lot of weekend mornings, and i see a LOT of folks at WH at 5 am, LOL!!! it is NOT an easy thing to do!!!)

Harrietth — unlike AI, the SYTYCD judges are not “mean spirited” about the people who are just wannabe fame seekers, tho’ they WILL tell them straight … they try to offer constructive critiques and advice to people who genuinely want to learn, and i just don’t think there are NEARLY as many people “setting themselves up” to be treated with sarcasm as there are trying out on AI, for some reason (with some notable exceptions, of course — every show has their clowns!)

and K, yes, they DO seem to be having a lot of fun — and are REALLY into the seriousness of judging dancers … that was an excellent observation, LOL!

later gang!

PREPARE YOURSELVES:

TMZ has learned Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy. In case you didn’t process that, Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy.

Here’s what we know. Multiple sources tell us the mother is Jaymes Foster, a record producer and Clay’s best friend. He lives at her home when he’s in L.A.

We’re told 50-year-old Foster, who produced several Aiken CDs, is due in August. She’s the sister of record mogul David Foster. She divorced a few years back and has no kids. Aiken is 29.

We’re told Foster was artificially inseminated. But Clay is a lot more than sperm — we’re told he will have an active role in raising the child.

No immediate word from Aiken’s rep.

I always watch Top Chef. I really like HK - Chef Ramsey is my hero. Just once I would like to say what I am actually thinking! Of course, if he were talking to me, I would take my favorite knife and there would be another body part missing.

I haven’t watched HK much this season. Don’t laugh, but I have gotten interested in Deadliest Catch on Discovery. Anyone seen it? I love those guys. My favorite show ever - Damages on FX.
