5/14: Top 3 Idol results show - David vs. David!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
We now have the top two we anticipated two months ago: David Cook vs. David Archuleta. This should be a humdinger, as Simon dubbed it. And yes, kids, that’s not a dirty phrase. Dated, yes. Not dirty.

Syesha Mercado finished No. 3, the spot I predicted in mid March before the top 12 performed. I’m proud of that one!
She’s a beautiful gal who sang consistently well throughout the competition. I really enjoyed her “Tobacco Road” and “Me and Mr. Jones” in the semifinals and became a fan. Her “Yesterday” was exceptional. Along the way, she made a few minor stumbles in song choice (Fantasia’s “I Believe,” especially) and skirted defeat five times. She picked up some steam near the end, with “A Change is Gonna Come” receiving her the most praise.
Through all the themes, her versatility was her strength and weakness. She always managed to make something out of whatever was handed to her. She never had a truly awful jaw-droppingly bad performance. She didn’t forget her lyrics. She moved the stage well. On the downside, she never had that Fantasia “Summertime” moment. She lacked that singular presence that would make her a potentially successful R&B singer. I’m not sure who she is as a performer. But Broadway? Perfect! She can become somebody else and do it well.
So I’ve gotten three out of nine guesses right based on night-after predictions. Of the top 12 I picked in order nine weeks ago, I got four correct. I made two wildly bad predictions—Kristy Lee out week one and David Hernandez landing in the top 5. My original top 12 was 12-Kristy Lee 11-Ramiele 10-Chikezie 9-Ramiele 8-Michael Johns 7-Brooke 6-Carly 5-David H. 4-Jason 3-Syesha 2-David C. 1-David A.
Anyway, here’s a quick rundown of the episode before the results:
Ryan’s hyperbole is in full force tonight as he notes that missing the top 2 for the third-place finisher is “devastating.” Not… really.
David Hernandez and Chikezie Ezie are in the audience, along with Andrew Lloyd Weber. Group sing: “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us now.” There were 56 million votes for the top 3, up from 51 million a week earlier. (Last year, there were 60 million votes tallied at this point and 50 million season five.)
Fantasia comes on relatively early for the results show. Her hair is very, um, red. It’s a very funky song. But I’m not likin’ it. It’s called “Bore Me” and comes from her second album. Simon looks flummoxed to say the least!
I guess they want to reserve time for the three hometown visits. First up: David Archuleta. Murray, Utah. “Good Day Utah.” 101.5/The Eagle. The Gateway Mall. Lotsa screaming girls. He’s overwhelmed and teary. “Gosh!” he says many times.
And to kill more time, they show his “farewell” video, just in case. And they use Graham Colton’s “Best Days” instead of “Celebrate Me Home.”
Syesha goes to Sarasota. “Good Day Tampa Bay.” Her elementary school in Bradenton. She goes to her house. (David somehow misses out on that.) “I struggled with drugs and alcohol for years,” her dad said. “This is like a natural high to me. This gives me a purpose to stay clean.” She gets a parade with the parents to her high school. The Fox TV copter to a concert in Sarasota. “I didn’t expect to cry so much,” she said.
During her “farewell” video, they use Fantasia’s “I Believe” while Syesha utters cliche after cliche about “if you believe in yourself, anything is possible.” (The problem being, that isn’t really true. Just watch the “Idol” auditions!)
At 9:42 p.m., David Cook gets the spotlight. “Good Day Kansas City.” He does a weather report. Hits a radio station. Goes downtown for a big concert where he does an acoustic version of “Living on a Prayer.” His elementary school, where he sees his proud music teacher. We meet his bro and he chokes up during the parade. Is David crying, too? Fox knows how to push those buttons, eh? We see his high school stadium appearance and a brief moment at the Royals game.
His video features “What About Now” by Daughtry.

Steve……I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t understand Tasia. I really do think that is the worst she has ever looked, and that is noy saying much.
Syesha was very graceful in being voted off. Little D looked like he was shocked beyond belief.

Since I’m really, really, really gonna miss Syesha, I’ll post a results recap just for her.
*First I wanna say I was surprisingly relaxed tonight…guess cause I prepared myself for what I did not want to happen.
*This is probably one of or is my favorite group performance so far (what they did can’t remember), probably because it’s such a great top 3..I just really liked it.
*Recap of last night.
*Must I say how much I hated Fantasia tonight? Well, her performance at least. I saw on Youtube a while back when she performed during season 4 results show, and she did the same thing! SCREAM!!! Simon’s face said it all. If that were an Idol performance he’d say “Complete and utter mess. I’d pack your suitcase.” Or at least that’s what I’d think. And the red hair is just dumb. And she’s getting big from the waste down…just sayin’… She should be what, 23ish now? Now I ain’t hatin’ on her singing. I love her voice, I just think what she is doing is blah, and I didn’t really want her to win that season.
*David Archuleta’s homecoming: I can almost understand why he talks the way he does. He probably doesn’t know how to react to these thousands of screaming girls. I for sure would be miserably annoyed, yet at the same time happy that I am loved by many. Sole voters right there. I’m sure I didn’t see any guys, did ya? Nope.
*Syesha Mercado’s Homecoming: She seemed to have a good time. I felt really bad when she cried like that in the limo and said what she said, because she’s living her dream…yet in that 30 minutes later, it all ends for her, at least in this competition.
*David Cook’s Homecoming: His was very drawn out, but entertaining. I feel like the filmers want to show him as ‘the best’ because whether it was or not, his video seemed longer and more paid attention to than the others. But that’s ok, I’m happy with him winning, if he does, that is.
*Results: Syesha goes home. Oh well, I would have liked to see her in the finals, but have that feeling that no matter who it were in her position, no one would be the inevitable David’s.
*Syesha Mercado go out there and show them what they missed, can’t wait to see what happens for you in the future. She made it this far, you bet she can do greater things outside of the show. Just don’t stray whatever way Melinda did… because I have heard nothing from her since the show…sadly enough.
*I don’t know what it is, but I apparently have a nack for picking a favorite, and that favorite doesn’t win. Hate it! Season 4 is an exception because I didn’t have a clear favorite, and same with season 6, so in season 6 my favorite ended up leaving within the first few weeks of the top 12. Seasons 3 and 5 my fav. came in 2nd. Hey, at least they made the finals.
*I know who I’M voting for next week! Of course, I don’t have the drive to vote the whole time because none of the 2 were my favorite overall. But my favorite guy is still there! The results will be intense, but we’ll surely have an idea of who is leaving beforehand. SYESHA!!!!!
*…goodbye.

David Cook has the whole package! I know he is a rocker and loves that style of music (I certainly do too) but when he sang Simon’s choice for him, The Last Time I Saw your Face he knocked me out. Not many rockers have that truly beautiful voice.

Rodney,
Please ask Syesha in her exit interview if she ever became aware that the song “Proud Mary was originally written by John Fogerty - lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival and originally recorded by CCR and that is was covered by among others Ike & Tina Turner as well as Tina Turner when she became a solo artist. I would be very interested to see what she says after crediting Tina Turner with the song last week, implying Tina was the original artist and that others covered her. I realize that many different artists may have used Tina’s style in their cover, but the fact remains that she was not the original recording artist as Syesha implied.
Thanks.

Goodbye Syesha, I’ll miss that red dress. I’m not too disappointed. She may have done great the last few weeks, but the first few weeks of the competition she was forgettable. I’m glad that she pulled it out in the end.
Harmony, please don’t remind us of the lame songs. Archie should do a decent job with the song, because he is used to singing boring garbage.
Cook for the win (with my votes of course)
Deirdre, from the other thread, of course I’m the nicest person in the world! I’ve been trying to keep up with soccer since the last summer Olympics, so it’s nice to have a blog that fits what I need in terms of news and education.

fantasia looked like a crack head just of a good hit. What a disaster, almost as bad as when they crowned her idol. DCook is the real deal! Anything less is sad…Fox needs to let the votes be counted for real for a change.

Glad to see that I wasn’t the only one thinking that Fantasia’s performance was ridiculous. I couldn’t even look at that weird hair.
I believe that the results next week are the closest they’ve been since season 2 with Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. That is truly great because then it’s not just an obvious thing and boring.
Both Davids would be a great Idol. I could live with either one winning — haven’t been able to say that — gee in forever.
By Negativo
May 15, 2008 12:03 AM | Link to this
Neg’s reflections on the night:
-Fantasia was a nasty, no-talent ho when she won idol purely out of sympathy. Now, she’s evolved into a chunky, nasty, no-talent ho, who has got to be an embarrassment for Idol at this point.
-The drawn out format should have been condensed to a neat, clean 30 minutes. This was brutally long.
-Archuletta hasn’t got a single fan outside of girls under 16.
-David Cook is so friggin’ cool. Great guy, everyday person, bartender fun dude, and likes to rock. His acoustic concert looked awesome.
-Archuletta says “gosh” one more time and I may do something that gets me arrested.
-Sayesha’s druggy/alchy father talking about trying to stay clean…WTF? He sounds like he’s still not conquered his demons.
-Sayesha has become a much more humble and likable person over the course of this competition. The first audition video showed her arrogance as she bragged about “sharing her gift” with the world. By the end, her tears were real, powerful and from a girl who has really become grounded and grown up.
-Paula’s hooters…
-Seeing Jacuzzi in the crowd made me angry that no-talent Castro made it so far while he was eliminated so early. That dude was talented.
-BTW, where was the stoner moron?
-Kristy in the crowd was looking so friggin hot.
-Can’t wait to hear David Cook’s adaptation of the final song. He will pull off a grungy, unique version I’m sure, while the troll will nauseate us with a stiff, breathy ballad.
Finally: VOTE COOK!

i’m disappointed that Archichi didn’t go, but not surprised. AM extremely grateful that DCook made the cut… and i really don’t know WHAT to expect next week, LOL!!!
Remind me someone…what do the two finalists do on finale night? their favorite from the season and the cheesy song winner…. what else? do they get to sing a little bit LONGER finally? or will we be inundated with more junk filler? you’d think that i’d know these things by season 7 right?
nite all!!! i’m imagining tomorrow will be a hoot on the ol’ mushblawg, because it will probably be a ‘front page link’ … be prepared!!!

This is really the first season that I have watched Idol on a regular basis. From the beginning, to me at least, Syesha was the most talented. She had the best voice and the best “stage presemce.” Now she is out. So am I. I won’t watch the final. This program is obviously a “popularity” contest. For the two Davids to be left is absurd. Obviously, young teenage girls are the big voters. How else could David A still be in the rumnning. It’s not his fault, but he is still a child. And the other David, his voice is not outstanding and he always looke like he needs s shower. He looks “unkept.” Oh well, so much for this being a “talent” show.

The fem fatal went off as I expected. Her screeching singing drives me batty - along with her red hair. I expected Archeleta to stay as I think he has a really smooth ballad type singing voice, kind of bluesy. His continual saying of the word “gosh” did not bother me, after all he is only l7 years old and his vocabulary probably limited. The other David is really good but if he would comb his hair it would help. He is alleged to be a “rock singer” but I have not heard any rock tunes yet.

Morning mushblogians!
We’ve known for a LONG time that it would be 2 Davids in the finals. Aren’t we smart? :-)
If I could type really, really tiny I would but, I actually liked Fantasia last night for the first time in a long time. Yeah, she looked ridiculous but I’ve come to expect that. When the song started I thought…NOOOOO, but as it continued, I thought it really suited her and was very catchy.

Anyway, sorry to see Syesha gone as I thought she was much better than Archie Tuesday night, and she has really grown on me the past few weeks.
As for Tasia’s ummmm, performance, if you can call it that, all I have to say is WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT????? MY wife said I had the same look as Simon on my face. I’m sorry, but that may have been the single worst performance in the history of this show.
Anyway, lots of work today, so everyone have a great day. Dawn, don’t let the mouth-breathers get to you. :-)

JP, while I agree with the idea that the Archie/Jeff situation may be due to the ratings decline…I must point out that your attitude toward Cook is much the same as Dawn’s attitude toward Archie. Based on what you’ve observed from the TV.
Cook struck me as arrogant the first couple of weeks but I haven’t seen that in him for a long time. He’s laid-back and introspective AND, lately he has nodded his head in agreement when he is criticized.(Randy called him off-key on his middle song and David seemed to agree with that).
For all we know, Archie’s dad could be getting a bum rap BUT…because it is NOT the first time that he has been accused of micromanaging his son to the point he was removed from a rehearsal room, chances are relatively good that what the press has printed about him is, at least partially, true.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the blog but read it every week - better late than never. I had to put my two cents in. So, whatever happened to free speech and the right to say what we want without being crucified. If Dawn knows an a$$ when she sees one, then she’s probably a good judge of character. JP needs to take a chill pill. This is an AI blog, not a character assasination seminar.
And yes, Fantasia looked and sounded like a rooster on crack! How she screeched her way to winning AI is beyond me. Simon had the classic “deer in the headlights look.” My hubs and I almost fell on the floor laughing when we saw his face.
Go DC!!! My votes are all for you.

Somebody has to be…what good does it do to snipe back and forth at each other with insults rather than talk about the disagreement rationally?
I’ve been learning that lesson for about a year now! :-)

Thank you Deirdre for your post. I don’t think my attitude toward David C is the same, I pretty much feel he is still arrogant. Yes, he has toned it down a bit. I would argue that the media has not really gone after him (none that I have seen) like they have David A so its hard to compare.
Lets just say this, who ever wins, wins. Both will get new cars and a record deal. How they choose to use them will show who they really are…

Thank goodness for TiVO!!! Even watching it go by really fast and with no sound, I didn’t like Fantasia’s performance. Good grief - talk about a year that had no choices…
I was sure it would be the 2 David’s left, but why couldn’t they say David Cook’s name first? I would just like to see Archie squirm for a minute!!
And I have to say - how many 17 year olds do you know that say “Gosh” all the time? I sure don’t. And if that kid wasn’t on AI, those cheerleaders would not have given him the time of day (heck, if the cameras were not on, they might not have either)!!

Welcome smitr!!!!
JP….I haven’t seen the media going after Archie at all other than to call him the winner…repeatedly. Now, his dad is a different story and whether deserved or not, that kind of attention hasn’t done Archie any good at all.
I admire Cook for NOT making an issue of his brother’s illness. It would have been so easy for him to become the sob story this year but, until Ryan brought it up, nobody knew that his brother was ill. And since then…he’s remained quiet about it unless asked directly.
But you can see him however you see him. I disagree and I’m hoping most of the voters do too! :-)

Lara! LOL!
My biggest problem with Archie is and always has been that he’s too young. In many circumstances, 17 wouldn’t be too young but he’s an extremely young 17! How on earth is this child going to handle the media mayhem as a first or even second place winner? Adding to that, his voice seems strained and foggy instead of smokey…if there’s a difference…which gives it a monotone on all but the strongest notes.
What happens when he turns 18 and a record label can legally remove that protective circle his family has made around him?
Too Young!!! Not ready!!! and unfortunately, it’s already too late!

I was a Fantasia fan and still am, when I can listen to her sing instead of screech. She has done some lovely songs. But even I have to admit that last night she looked and sounded terrible. I FF’d through most of it when I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Tasia is my girl, so naturally, I was mad at Simon’s look of “WTF”. But I had my very own personal “WTF” look, so who am I to judge?
I hope David Cook wins. The only folks who would buy an Archie album are coincidentally the same folks who love Michael Bolton.

Hey Neg,you are wrong, I am an “Older” women and I love David A…….I vote for him all the time. I also like David C……so David A. does have older fans! So there, HA! Just making a point, however, I do agree that he probably has mostly teeny bopper fans…..well, on second thought, maybe not, he has a quality that appeals to all ages I think! I agree that Fantasia was horrible, what was up with that performance…..one thing though, she certainly has learned how to move around on stage! Why would anyone want that color of hair is beyond me!!! So I personally think David C. is going to win…….David A. is for real I think with his innocence! People need to give him a break with his seemed naivety. It would be great in my opinion if more teens were like him and not so hip on sex, drugs, and rock and roll!

I am a longtime Fantasia fan but could not even bring myself to continuously watch her performance last night. I was SO ashamed and embarassed for her, AI, her fans and everyone watching. Simon’s face said it all. I understood NOTHING that she said and even Ryan got in a jab at her.
David A. was even surprised that he was still on the show. He should have been gone last night. It should have been Sy and David C. in the final show IMO. No worries though, I have watched sparingly this entire season. It was clear to me after last season that AI is nothing but a bunch of propaganda. I am shocked that it is still on the air.

The two remaining idol contestants just don’t have “star” quality (I don’t think anyone did this season!). David A is definitely a great singer, and he is cute and has a strong fan base, but he just looks too overwhelmed when he gets attention from fans. I am biased against David Cook, though, and I didn’t even want him in the top 5!!! I think that he is full of himself, tries too hard be a “rocker”, and very often sings off key. I am actually not quite sure what exactly his fans see in him. He is most likely NOT going to be the next Chris Daughtry, and he is NOT original. He will probably end up singing in Broadway or coffee houses. Cook seems to only be in this for the fame, and not a love or understanding for music. As for David A, who knows. He may have a short Zac Efron-ish fame for a while.

Do any of you remember the vulcher from the Bugs Bunny cartoons? He was always ducking his head, blushing, and saying “gosh” and “nope, nope, nope”…..I see it in my head everytime little Monchichi speaks on camera. Here’s a question to ponder. Do you think Simon and the record producers would prefer David A to win because he may be more pliable then David C.? Without giving an actual number, I AM an older woman, and I LOVE David Arch. He’s just cute as a button, and he’s got a nice soothing voice. I do, however, much prefer his “singing” voice over his “speaking” voice. He sounds a bit dopey when he speaks, but I still think he’s adorable! All in all, I’d be happy with either “David” winning. SOMEtimes the blog itself will hiccup, but more often than not, it’s impatience on our part that causes it.

Over the last few seasons contestants such as Diana DeGarmo were continually criticized for being “pageant like” and not being ready for stardom. Then comes little Archie, forgetting his words, which he actually did again Tuesday night I believe it was on the second song he flubbed one line, always, always, always stands in the same spot holding the microphone the same way and never, with the exception of the Boo song he attempted, moves around much. He always sounds the same in every song. Horrible stage presence. Could you see him at a concert in between songs or sets, would he be able to speak to the audience on his own? He’s sad and never criticized by the judge’s the way others have been. His voice is nauseating to me, perhaps I’m not hearing what the live audience is.

Fantasia rode one performance, “Summertime”, into an AI title. Otherwise, she’s been just a mess. Last night’s performance reminded me of James Brown. A lot lot of funky squealing and screaming, but not much musical talent.
By linny ,,,=^..^=,,,
May 15, 2008 11:16 AM | Link to this
harrieth, i posed that question last night, too. i KNOW one is a sappy song, and i THINK one is to redo a song already done during the year — i would love it if DC sang Music of the Night again, because i thought he showed incredible talent.
I don’t think of David Cook as “just” a “rock singer” … i think he’s got an enormous range of talent, and is versatile and flexible, unlike so many other contestants over the years. Someone said that he’d not heard DC sing anything “rock” — then compared him to Daughtry (whom i love too) … saying he was “no Daughtry” … well Daughtry sings ONE GENRE of the broad spectrum called “rock”.
But, just as an example: look at the broad range of music put out over umpteen gazillion years by the Rolling Stones. Or The Jefferson Airplane/Starship. Or the Allman Brothers. Or Lynard Skynard. Or Led Zep. Or the Beatles. [and add in here names of bands/groups/performers over the last 20 years that i am not as familiar with, to suit your own taste]
Point is, “Rock” is an extremely broad spectrum genre. And given that our exposure to any AI contestant’s skills and styles are limited to a minute and a half per song, it’s a little hard to get a full picture.
just had to say it.

Fantasia is not a sex symbol. Fantasia is not a sex symbol. That performance was just about the wildest, most out of control act I’ve ever seen.
Maybe that new song could grow on me in time. But as for last night. Arrrgh!
On to the contestants. How come DCook and keep on rockin’ like he does with any song and everybody loves it, but DArchu cannot be a balladeer without being “boring?”
To me it’s a double standard. Some of us like soft, smooth ballads. And that’s not all we like in music. But we do appreciate pure, controlled, beautiful voices, male and female.
I’ve said before, Archu has a Lot to learn in the way of performing…let’s give him the time to grow in that area.
I don’t mind DCook’s music. But at the same time, what else is new about him? There’s plenty of his style all around. maybe he’ll score some unique hits. But the pure vocal sounds are getting rarer and rarer these days.
That is all!
thanks for reading.

Just talked to Rodney about Simon’s stake in the Idol Company… Idol is owned by 19Entertainment and Rodney thinks Simon doesn’t have ANY ownership other than his lucrative contract with them. In other words, once the show is over, Simon has nothing to do with what happens to the contestants. A man named Simon Fuller is one of the show’s owners. Simon Cowell has his own company plus productions in England.
And as for Simon Cowell ‘picking’ the winner every year…all you have to do is look at his face when someone mentions Taylor Hicks to know that isn’t true. He DOES NOT like Taylor and DID NOT want him to win.

KIDDING!!!! well, no, in a way i’m not. For someone who did one of THE most moving and beautiful renditions of a beautiful and moving song ONCE in competition, this girl really really REALLY puts me off. I just don’t get it. I really don’t. All i an figure is she’s surrounded by people who don’t really care about Fantasia, they just want the money they get paid, and will tell her she looks and sounds great no matter what. I think someone who REALLY cared about her would talk to her about dressing appropriately for her size, weight, height, not to mention the fact that she’s a mother, not a teenager, and who would remind her that she DOES have a beautiful voice in there somewhere, she doesn’t NEED to screech and scream and all that stuff.
sigh but then… they would probably not have that income anymore, so… too bad.

I don’t even watch Am Idol because none of them can sing. I can’t believe Siesha was even in the top 12. From what I heard the first week or so was absolutely crazy. The only one I liked was the kid and I think he’s one of the finalists. After the first week or two after the auditions I stopped watching.
Same with Dancing with the Stars — There’s no way that fat lady should’ve last longer than some of the others especially that kid Mario. He was, to me, neck and neck with Kristy Yamagoochi, but I guess the old white guy didn’t like the young black guy.

To the elderly ladies who have come to Arch’s defense of my putting Arch in the teeny girl category that is inappropriate for grown men, well, you are his second most popular audience! I do not consider elderly women pedophiles for liking him, go right ahead and cheer him on. Make him your adopted great-grandchild!
However, a full grown man absolutely should not be an big Archuletta fan. Very inappropriate and creepy, and I certainly wouldn’t want a guy like that around my children. Seriously, I just don’t like it at all. Adult men should not be passionate about ANYTHING in tween culture. That’s the type you see getting busted on Dateline.

So flats is a female named greg?

flatsisgay….if you haven’t been around here long, you’ll soon realize that flats likes to take a subject that he knows will mildly annoy us and chew on it like a dog with a bone until the ‘mildly’ part gets replaced with ‘very’. He’s done this with a lot of subjects..he just happens to be on gay voters right now.
We’re used to it! :-)

Oh yeah, there was a reference to ‘Flats’ being ‘Greg’, wasn’t there? Maybe I have him (or her) confused. I must! Flats, could you please set the record straight. We’re all very intrigued!

Thought I would weigh in for a moment. First, Fantasia looked hectically desperate. What’s up with that? She acted and performed like she was the one who was trying to make the finals. Just not good…not good at all.
Now, David C. is to me, by far the most polished, professional, and ready for prime time performer/singer. He is so many worlds above any of the others. The only problem is, I worry that if he wins, he will have to sing those forgettable pop schmaltz that 19 Entertainment will probably make him sing, which will sell a million then be instantly forgotten. This could potentially ruin his career. If they give him creative freedom, he will be another Daughtry, but the issue is…will they?
David A. has a pure voice, but is a couple of years away from being a great performer. 19 Entertainment can do a world of wonder for him. Plus, they will give him music perfectly suited to his style and voice.
I think David C. deserves the win…I hope David A. gets the win.
Either way, this is probably the best finale in several seasons, talentwise.

Hey IOE!!! I wouldn’t worry about D.Cook and pop-schmaltz. He managed to turn Lionel Richie’s Hello into a really good song…yeah, I know it was somebody else’s arrangement but David sang it…and did it well. After all, it’s a singing competition, not an arranging competition.

Idolovereasy, this is Negsunnysideup. I think the studio will provide the songs and the basic structure, but Cook has shown the ability to take even the most lame of pop balads and turn them into original masterpieces. I think having him given the structure of a studio album for his first run out of the box would be helpful for him artistically and commercially.

He does have a flair for taking songs and making great arrangements, Diedre, I just worry that 19 Entertainment wouldn’t give him that freedom.
On another note, how long do you think it will be before a Broadway producer snatches up Sayesha? I never thought of her as a pop singer, but I can easily see her becoming a Broadway megastar. She really radiated acting, performing and vocal skills perfect for the stage.
Did I read somewhere that Michael Johns and David Cook were considering collaborating on a music project?

So, I WAS right about ‘Flats’. (Giving myself a pat on the back.) Thanks for clearing that up for all of us. What IS up with the ‘Greg’ mention. I thought Linny (maybe D) might’ve referred to you as ‘Greg’ in the past. Am I mistaken?

BlkShep, that was really really uncalled for! I know you and a couple of the posters have a “thing” going but personal attacks in general on the people who post here is a little above and beyond … you aint doing nothing but stating the truth with these wack azz closet maggots on here may not have been meant to apply to everyone, but it was offensive in my opinion to everyone.
instead of responding to the worm and flats, since they bother you, why not go back to some of the insightful, if rambling, commentary you USED to do??
just wonderin’ :-)

Michael Johns and D. Cook collaborating???? Oh be still my heart. I predict some good things coming for Michael Johns…the guy is really talented but started off on Idol without solid footing…he was coming into his own when he got eliminated. I think he has a lot of potential.

yeah, Diedre, I read that on an entertainment news site. Apparently, they got to be really good friends and are, or at least, want to collaborate when AI is over. Now, whether they will be able to is another story, but I won’t be surprised to see them working together or possibly co-writing for each other.
Yep, the ladies would be in hawg heaven if you had THAT duo on stage together!

Although I’ve already responded with this (d$#%m blog ate my post), I’ll send again:
I don’t know about the Johns/Cook collaberation, but I DID hear (may be old news but…) that Britney Spears had agreed to appear in KLC’s 1st music video. AS IF!!!!

Katie…maybe it’s you! I think David C. is a musician…he understands music and makes it special. His voice may not appeal to you, and he’d be the first to admit that he went off-key during Tuesday’s show, but, to my ears, David A.’s voice is a monotone with an occasional note that comes out different. He sings every song EXACTLY the same as he sang the last song…he has NO stage presence, and he is years away from becoming even slightly articulate. He’s a nice kid but, with the exception of Imagine and Long and Winding Road, there is almost no emotion from HIM…just from the song itself.

new thread up. but before you go… Katie … did you HEAR David Cook sing “Music of the Night” … there was NOTHING wrong with his talent that night!!! A lot of the more “modern” style that the judges keep telling the kids to do to “rearrange” the older music they keep throwing at them… IS a bit atonal, off key, screechy, or just loud. So if you take a classic, say, rock song, and make it “modern” it might JUST have some atonal elements … which, if you know anything about music, is NOT always a bad thing … look at the whole freaking modern jazz industry!!!!! Ever heard of John Coltrane? to name just ONE…

oh. and about greg/flats — what so many people don’t seem to understand is…. greg LOVES attention. if he can’t get it just being normal, he’ll find something to pick at, as D says, until it goes from mildly annoying to VERY annoying … and just like a toddler, the more he acts out, the more attention he gets, the more he’s happy. doesn’t matter what KIND of attention!
once you learn to grasp that concept about greg/flats, it’s a LOT easier to move through the blog, either ignoring or responding to him, depending on your mood of the day, LOL!!!
people think i DEFEND greg … i don’t often DEFEND him… but i DO explain him…because if you understand him, he’s easier to cope with! at least I think so!!!
now…on to the new thread, and no, greg, you won’t be first. WE got there before you, i believe…

Linny you’ve just given us proof that you defend him! “i don’t often defend him” means that you sometimes do defend him, even if “don’t often” means very little it is still one time more then never.
I’m just saying that to save someone else from typing it… you know that there is a person getting ready to bash you on that right now don’t you?

It is so obvious that Fox, Idol and the judges have pimped David and David from the start. It became even more obvious with the producers choice of song. Archie sings the same boring stuff, albeit well, every week and Cookie starts every song slow and builds it up. Nothing new from either of them. Sayesha changed song style week to week and grew as a singer and a performer. Nothing predictable from her. Awesome singer who should be in the top 2, winning this season of AI.

me, why wouldn’t Fox and the judges ‘pimp’ who they like best? We do! I liked Syesha, too but….. she’ll do just fine!
