4/23: Idols live tour dates - Gwinnett Arena August 18
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
(I’m creating a separate blog entry for this just so folks can find it easier down the road though it’s going to be quickly superseded by the results show entry.)
Mark your calendars. Locally, the “Idols Live” tour will return to the Gwinnett Arena for the fourth year in a row, this year August 18. Ticket info forthcoming.
“Idols Live” will feature fewer duets and group sings and more solo work, according to a story in USA Today..
From the exclusive USA Today story:
Using extensive lighting and giant video screens, producers are aiming to “create a distinct mood for each singer,” Pirie says. Artists will be “encouraged to play an instrument only if it’s appropriate to them.”
Though some of the 10 have songwriting credits, concertgoers won’t be treated to any of their originals this summer. “We really want the experience to echo the television show, so expect to hear a lot of the songs that did well during the season,” says Iain Pirie, head of 19 Recordings U.S., which organizes the tour.

So, as for the fact that the tour wraps up in David Cook’s home state … can we file that under obvious foreshadowing?

Beauty in twelve(bars)
Tho sometimes grossly under rated. I think the experience of music is one of the most appreciated arts, ever. If there is anything anyone could do that could create more joy than the pleasure we get from the sounds people make musically, I often wonder what that might be. Because I can’t think of anything more exciting, gratifying or beautiful than the agile movement of human voice and the sounds of (my) music. If you could put a muzzle on that Simon fellow, with those aimless meanderings and p’d off cracks. The viewing audience might even get to enjoy our young people sing. Simon, put a lid on it. When Idol folds try stand up. Over in Britian somewhere.

I am not sure if the show is rigged or not. I will not comment if someone is on something or not. I am curious though that if the show is rigged, did anyone think that having that guest singer, sorry can’t remember her name but the really pretty blond singer who went over to hug little david -do you think that was rigged to influence voters to vote for him. Can’t help but think it after Tuesday’s airing. I do think however little David is a fine singer. Although I prefer David Cook.

dee…I’m sure the show isn’t rigged but I think we are manipulated. However, Natasha Bedingfield went over to hug Archie because he named her as the person he’d most love to do a duet with……Archie may seem younger than he is but apparently those hormones have been activated!

Thanks Deirdre.
I wanted to further comment that I really like Paula Abdul and group up as listenting to her. Also if there are addicitions, I hope people have compassion. I know she went public with the eating disorder -I hope that is true and not a rumor. Anyway, I worked with eating disorders and they are indeed an addiction and if someone is addicted to something and is trying to quit people should repsect their privacy, offer them moral support and have some compassion. Finally if that is the case maybe the show is not rigged. I do however think the judges do try to influence us and they probably do things as well to keep people talking about the show that is just smart marketing.

Paula’s goof….. There’s been alot said about this. FOX of whoever seems to want to make excuses. Why? It’s not because of the latest press release that says Paula was speaking out of turn because the judges get to see the dress rehearsal. Nope! The real reason is because, as we have suspected since the year Clay came in second to Reuben, the judging and voting is rigged in favor of those that FOX and the judges want to win. Shame on you American Idol! Go back and read your own rules and let America decide who is THE best singer.

Bolivar..if you’ve been watching the show, you already KNOW that the judges can see the dress rehearsal. This year, after Michael Johns had a bad night, Paula said that she had seen him in rehearsal and he was flawless.
If you knew anything about the power of the FCC(the federal gov’t’s regulatory agency for broadcast entities) you’d know that the stringent regulations involving voting are monitored regularly and efficiently. The voting is NOT rigged. Fox would be paying HUGE fines and the whole world would know.
But here’s another question…WHY would they cheat on vote counts? They don’t care who wins…they have the option to sign anybody they want from the show.
The last person Simon wanted to win during season 5 was Taylor Hicks but Taylor won and Simon is still pouting about it. Simon couldn’t even remember Kelly Clarkson’s name for the first few weeks of season 1.
We are manipulated weekly by the order in which the contestants sing, the song choices they make and the opinions of the judges but, if there was any monkey business with the vote counts…the feds would be down their throats.
Y’all are just going to have to get over Clay coming in second. Face the fact that he got fewer votes than Ruben…he’s still doing just fine, better than Ruben even and probably benefited from not winning.
