2/4: Kelly Clarkson playing Rock Band, did Jordin lip synch?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Q100 posted its Kelly Clarkson interview in seven parts on YouTube. Here’s the portion of her playing Foo Fighters’ “Learning to Fly” via the video game Rock Band. You’ll see me in the background taking pictures. Kelly is hilarious!
Here’s something I wish we could do here but lack the polling software. (Don’t ask.). Entertainment Weekly has a weekly “power ranking” vote. At the top this week: Kristy Lee Cook..
In case you missed it, this is a link to Jordin’s National Anthem performance at MJ’s site.. Did she lip synch? Okay, that’s what everyone is saying, though you have to wonder if that was a production call, not an artist call. I’ve seen on Web stories noting that Whitney and Aretha have lipsynched the anthem for the Super Bowl. Curiously, they had her song up on iTunes within a matter of minutes after she performed it so that pretty much guarantees it was prerecorded.
Plus, DJ Slim also has the bit Kellie Pickler did before the Super Bowl for the Tonight Show. If you love her, this is vintage Kellie! Her comic timing is impeccable!.

I guess that settles the lip-synch question. Or does it?

Tempting. Really, a few years ago I would tell all I knew but I’m trying to be responsible. Have others to think about. This particular bit intrigued me because I sing and I couldn’t resist. I had already figured it out before I asked for confirmation.

With today’s technology, if someone had the tv recording digitally, they could have uploaded the SSB almost immediately after it was done; i don’t think that’s so totally impossible, especially if they were sitting there prepared to transfer it. just my opinion. for what it is…or isn’t… worth. and even if she DID prerecord it for release on itunes….that doesn’t MEAN that the performance before the SB was canned. just sayin’, cuz i can ~¿@ and… even if she DID have to end up synching, maybe the SB producers have gotten REALLY gun-shy about live performances after some of the total and absolute FAILURES they’ve had with so-called celebrities in the recent past!!!
but again i ask…. “in the scope of all eternity, how important is it?”
it was well done. she’s growing up, but yes, she still has a li’l bit of the chubbiness, may always have some, she’s not a small gal. better she should be a little chunky than to go anorexic and look like a skeleton. dare i say, she looks “wholesome” to me.
kelly looked like she was having a blast with the Rock Band thing….

Back from the trenches! Or Kroger! I see we still don’t know whether Jordin sang live or not. Guess it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things…she sounded good no matter how it was presented.
WE…baiting the newbies is not acceptable! :-)
I know for sure…welcome to our little group. Do you mind if I call you IKFS(I’m surprised that linny hasn’t called you that already, she’s our resident abbreviator) Stick around, we’re usually loaded with reviews after each show.

Did you guys know that the first Monday in February (i.e., today) is the day of the year that has the largest number of “call-in-sick” calls in the US?
NOT because it’s the day after super sunday, but because it’s usually the first MONDAY after everyone get’s their first BIG christmas credit card bills AND because it’s been a month since a holiday and the next day off is still a long way away, unless you are lucky enough that your office (as the gov’t does) acknowledges MLK day as a day OFF…. some offices offer it as a floater for those who wish to take it, others, like our office, only get the absolutely BARE minimum holidays off, we don’t even get T’day fridays! and if you DON’T get MLK day off, the next holiday is MAY 31!!! that’s a long time! and usually the weather in early february is dreary, adding to the blahs.
just a bit of trivia for you. if anyone cares, of course. Þ~~~~~~~

Hi y’all! Hope you all had a great weekend. Been busy at work. No sick day here, Linny! :(
I got the impression it was lip synched, but that was during the live airing. Haven’t seen the clip yet.
Thanks for posting the video Rodney. (Not that I haven’t already watched it. LOL)
Oh, and all of you with the Wii’s. I finally got mine…and boy am I sore today. Makes me realize how outtashape I am, though I am exercising! ;)

ok just cuz i mentioned it earlier… Gone Country replayed tonight so i saw it; not much to add to previous comments by others however… except that Mr. Brown and Mo need to GOOOOOOOO.
also watched the 20/20 special about the dutch kid’s confession. what a jerk he is; always thought so, but now… even if he DIDN’T do it and made all that up, how painful and how disrespectful to everyone… ewww if he were MY son, i’d be slappin’ him up side the head! or something. what a selfish, rude brat!
well anyway…. looking forward to Idol tonight…what will Atlanta have to offer? with the spoiler 24 we have some idea, but… well, we’ll see, i guess.

Good morning mushblogians!
I’m looking forward to Idol in the ATL tonight. Rodney has mentioned, in a print edition piece, that it appears at least one person from ATL makes it to the top 24 according to the spoiler list.
Then there’s the primary today. The outcome will be very interesting.

linny…when do you sleep?
And about that Aruba kid….what? Why would he say that stuff if it isn’t true? I know kids like to brag but…about murder?????
By War Eagle
February 5, 2008 8:12 AM | Link to this
D, I was wondering the same thing about Linny.
The Aruban kids lawyer says that he can prove that the story was made up. First he says the pay phone the kid reported to have used was checked by the Aruban Coast Guard and no such call was made. Also the lawyer says that the dude that had the boat and dumped the body was not even in Aruba in 2005.
I don’t know what to believe. But I still think without a body he will go free.

Morning y’all!
Joran Von Der Sloot is an despicable jerk. I’ll hold him down to help out, Linny. To be honest though, that was my suspicion all along. That somehow she was thrown into the ocean…easiest way to make someone disapper with little or no evidence. It’s a pretty sad story. And while I’m hoping there’s a way he can pay for it, at least her parents know what happened to her. ‘Cause I don’t believe that he made that up….
ANYWAY. On to lighter stuff, did anyone watch Dance Wars? Um, I don’t know, but I’m quickly losing interest…the dancing has been okay, good at times, even. But the singing seems to be the weakest part.
So on to IDOL! Someone please tell me that this is the last week of audition? I want to go to Hollywood! :)
By Deirdre
February 5, 2008 8:22 AM | Link to this
I agree, WE…..his ‘confession’ wouldn’t stand up in court, even in Aruba. And there’s no other proof. I think the kid did it but that’s just my opinion. He’s such an arrogant SOB! But arrogance doesn’t prove guilt either or we’d have a lot more people in prison. Sad story but maybe the girl’s mom will have a little bit of closure now if she accepts that story as true.
By Deirdre
February 5, 2008 8:27 AM | Link to this
LOL! kf…the singing is the weakest part because Carrie and Bruno are dancers!
Yes, tonight is the last regular audition show. Tomorrow night is called The Best of the Rest…and please dear Lord…let that mean the BEST singers, not the best goof-balls!!! Hollywood Week is next week.

WE, I guess that the lawyers can prove that part of his story is a lie by using the phone records, etc. But then again, have they checked all phone records in the area? He could be “confessing” but changing the details so they can “prove” that he didn’t do it. I still think he was involved… I really believe she was thrown into the ocean and won’t be found. It’s a pretty sad case.

Good Morning everyone!
Deirdre, I’m sorry, I didn’t read your question until this morning. I am due May 15th, so I don’t know if I will make it all the way thru Idol or not (when is the finale)? One of my girlfriend’s just had her second daughter on Sunday, so I am really ready to go now. I don’t know if I told you or not, but we have decided on a name - Caitlin. I know it’s a really popular name, but when I was in highschool (20 years ago), I read a series of books where the main character was named Caitlin and I have loved that name ever since.
With regards to Van der Sloot, what kind of a dummy says all this stuff about murder when they have been a suspect in the murder they’re talking about? I don’t believe it’s a lie.
I second Linny when I say, “regardless of your political leanings, get out there and VOTE”!

Amy…Caitlin is a beautiful name. If Greg had been a girl we were going to use that name. Maybe her middle name should be Idol!! :-)

The only thing he admitted to was calling someone to dump the body. He was with her when he claims she died of possible alcohol and cocaine use. So that is why I say unless the body is found and they run the test, his confession will not be enough to charge him with murder. I don’t believe he took her to the beach with the intentions of killing her. Something happened but I don’t know if we will ever know exactly what it was.

Oh boy am I frustrated! I sat here and typed and typed…answering questions, making comments…. and hit ONE keystroke combination that blew me “back” and lost everthing I’d typed. So…
I’m going to do a series of small posts, sort of a’la Diane, to try to avoid me beating myself up for being stupid (actually it’s a function of typing too fast… and not paying attention, because i have NO clue what keystroke combination blew me back!)

1-Dance Wars
I was stunned that Bruno’s team lost again, for I felt he’d really stepped it up during week two. And I REALLY hate that Tony had to be the one to go, tho’ given the choices, Bruno really didn’t HAVE a choice except Phillip or Tony—Zack being the “golden boy” and all. I don’t like Phillip. He’s too “look at ME” for my taste. That first couple of weeks I thought i’d throw up if he strutted his suspenders-vest-jacket-or-shirt one more time. oh well.
Personally I think that the 12 original should perform together as a dance troup that sings sometimes… all together i think they are much better than separated.
and what a cute couple Qis and Malia make!
on to the next topic… bbiab

2 - Natalee/Joran
grrrrrrr. i know the boy would never be convicted for murder but i do think that he’s a stupid, selfish, over-indulged, BRAT. If he could call his so-called friend (which obviously WASN’T Daury!) to come “help”…he could have called for REAL help, even “anonymously” … even if Natalee died, then at least he’d be able to say he TRIED to get help for her. But nooooooo he’s more worried about being caught “out of the house, no one even knew i was out” … mumble mumble mumble…
I think someone hit the nail on the head…he’s basically telling the truth, but he’s sly-smart enough to change some of the details so that there’s no way to follow his actual trail. I think what Beth Tilley said is the ultimate truth. He has to walk through this world, everyone in the civilized world recognizing him and that he probably IS at worst a selfish brat who let a girl die, and possibly as much as a Murderer. Who would trust him now?????

3-Gone Country
Apparently this won’t be a “get voted off the island” show, and all of them will be on the whole series. Too bad. I’d love to vote Bobby I’m Drunk and My S* Don’t Stink Brown and Maureen Whiney Mo Marcia McGovern should be voted off pronto! I mean…she tiptoes into Bobby Brown’s room and calls him “hon, baby….time to get up” **BARF I loved Dee putting Bobby in his place on stage…I kind of like that old goat!!! But to me, Diana shines. “Don’t you feel sorry for Bobby?” “NO! We aren’t here to drink we’re here to compete!” you go girl!!!
oh well, we’ll see how the crew does next week, eh!

I’m heading out to vote, then I’ll come back home and take Mom out to vote. Fortunately, they let her cut in line since she’s using a walker and probably should be in a wheelchair. I can tell you right now, when the time comes for a wheelchair, she is NOT going to be happy about it!

ok…. i think i’ve covered everything so far, yes, i DID go vote on the way to work…
and for those who pray, please keep my son’s roommate situation in your prayers, he’s trying out a new one… but this one TOO is looking for work… and guess who has to help cover the shortfall on rent….

WE — I type way fast. Funny since when i started out working in 1971, i could hardly type at all…in fact they FAKED my typing score UP to 32 so i could even GET a job… within a year, i was up to 50, got out of secretarial for a while into quality control — for Loveable Bra Company and then for Harland Checks, what a blast that was…then back into secretarial and i upped my speed to the 80s…THEN got on keyboards, all that was on selectrics!!! so now… no telling how fast i REALLY type… testing i come in around 100, usually, but testing slows me down; i KNOW it’s psychological, but it does!
aight….see you guys later!

On the roommate thing…I can’t tell you the trouble both my boys had with apartment mates…..the stories are long and horrifying.
