1/5: Weekend diversions
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Here’s Kat McPhee from that Orange Bowl National Anthem appearance Deirdre was raving about last week:
Frenchie Davis joins Ruben Studdard on the national stage for “Ain’t Misbehavin’ ” Studdard told me about his involvement in the musical on November 27 (which I posted here) but proving my inability to get things disseminated well at times, it didn’t really hit most blogs until playbill announced it a few days back. I’ll have to do a better job spreading the word in the future the times I do break something.
What’s harder to find than a City of Gold? For “American Idol” rocker Chris Daughtry, it was one of his own songs. Daughtry was commissioned to write a song to play over the end credits of “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” but the single, “Feels Like Tonight,” was left on the cutting-room floor, reports “Variety.” “It’s a great song, and probably could have been a good marketing tool, but when we put it up with the movie, it just felt wrong,” Disney music chief Mitchell Leib told the Hollywood trade.
And though I’ve now posted a couple of other videos of Blake Lewis singing “Break Another,” well, here he is again, this time on Jay Leno Friday. The man is getting around though it’s unclear how well it will do on top 40 radio. It has just hit No. 40 on the charts.
