9/19: Simon on Ryan’s hosting, Kelly/Reba combo

Simon told “Extra” that Ryan did okay in his first Emmy hosting gig. Simon gave Ryan 2.5 stars (presumably out of four).
“There were a few uncomfortable moments,” Simon told “Extra.” “We were expecting a two, so I’m going to give him a two-and-a-half. So he did better than expected.”
USA Today had a piece about the relationship between Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson.
“Honestly, she’s the light at the end of the tunnel,” Clarkson told the paper. “It’s good for every young singer to have somebody they can model their careers after.”
“It’s an odd but warm relationship,” says Chet Flippo, editorial director at CMT.com. “Kelly is Reba’s musical daughter. They’re completely without artifice together.”
Kelly first dueted with Reba in 2002 but bonded during a CMT special in February. This led to the duet of “Because of You,” which recently peaked at No. 2 on the country charts (briefly hitting No. 1 on the rolling 7-day Mediabase charts). And now Kelly is managed by Reba’s hubby.
