9/12: Simon reacts to Britney, Hudson on Sex & the City film

“Extra” spoke to Simon Cowell today and he opened up about Britney Spears’ recent MTV VMA performance: “She stole the show whether you liked it or not…the only thing you heard about the following day was Britney Spears. It wasn’t the best performance. She wasn’t ready for it.”
On her wardrobe, Cowell states, “She missed the snake…it wasn’t a great outfit…I would have given her bigger shorts.”
Cowell’s advice to Britney is “Dump her friends….fire the stylist…be sensible…put her in rehearsal for four weeks, get her into the gym.” He adds, “When she’s on it, she’s incredible.”
About the single, “Gimme More,” Cowell says, “This was just an okay record.” Cowell jokes, “She should have said I’ll be back in an hour, I got a bit of a false start.”
Jennifer Hudson has nabbed a role in the “Sex & the City” film, an assistant to Carrie Bradshaw..
Anwar Robinson from season four has joined a national tour of “Rent.”. No Atlanta date is set.
Kimberley Locke, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken are in talks to do a combo season two reunion tour next year. That would be quite cool and bring in an impressively diverse crowd. Locke gave the scoop to billboard.com. Locke is planning a Christmas CD, by the way.
I also heard Mandisa and George Huff are filming a Christmas special for Atlanta-based Gospel Music Channel in Nashville next week.
And Kelly Clarkson makes a questionable clothing choice during last week’s pre-game NFL kickoff show in Indianapolis. We heart you too, but not exactly a blouse to match the song, eh? At least she sounds great as always doing “Never Again.”
