When I first heard Mandesa belt I’m every Woman, I thought she was a force to be reckon with. then she got booted. but Like Jennifer Hudison I felt she was destined and someone would pick her up. Well Jennifer Lost to Fantasia got booted off idol Only to be become a DREAMGIRL with all eyes focused on Jennifer. Even if the Movie Dreamgirls dont clean up at the oscars the Movie will Live on forever. Musicals become classics..Wizard of Oz, the Wiz, Stormy Weather, Singing in the RAin, Lady Sings the Blues, and whoever had the Baddest Song of that Movie..people remember them even if they Never work again. As in the case with the Play for dreamgirls, the other cast ie Sherly lee Ralph was overshadowed by Jennifer Holiday..so the booted off idol Jennifer Hudison and Mandesa clearly shows..You dont have to Win the Top Spot or even be in the top 4. and Still the world will Know who you are if you have Talent. Still, Props to American Idol, if not for AI no one probably would have heard of Clay Akien, Kelly Clarkson,Ruben, Fatansia, CArrie Underwood, Jennifer(Dreamgirl)Hudison, and now Mandesa and Paris. YOU GO IDOLS REJECTS AND WINNERS! I think everyone for THAT reason alone is gonna do whatever it takes Just to GET on IDOL..we clearly See you DONT have to Win or even be in the top 4. But the WORLD SEES you, and Every One does NOT have to Agree with Randy Paula or Simmon or the VOTERS see YOUR talent(such in the case with Jennifer Hudson) and give you either a recording and In Hudsons case, and Acting debut for a Major Picture! so folks if you got talent..do whatever it takes to get on American Idol and get introduced to the World.

I agree with you. Exposure is what counts. You don’t have to win, just get noticed - for whatever reason ie, William Hung. No talent, but people liked him enough for him to get a deal. I still laugh when I thing about that.

hello all….been a long time.

Jex, I think this is EXACTLY what she wanted. She’s the first and only idol contestant I recall to select and perform a GOSPEL song during the top 12 (even though not many people liked it). And they even let her say “Jesus” on air (what!). Mandisa has always presented herself as child of God trying to spread the Good News. So it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that she would “go gospel”. If anything R&B will try to woo her away.

Harmony, when did Mandisa say “Jesus” on the air? Did they bleep it out? I don’t remember that. I would have fainted. You can say @$$ and t*ts and other stuff like that, but God forbid if you say Jesus.

mystique! You’re downing sweet little Elliott? I can’t believe it. I thought he had such a nice voice. I think I heard that he was having some dental work done. But I’ll bet you dollars to donuts he’ll come back strong with tracks that will surprise everyone. Trust.

Hey Jex! happy Holidays from me and the puppies who are bigger then their mother now(who by the way is pregnant A-gain,due to drop 17 Dec.06) but as we agreed..It is Essential if you got talent and fall between the ages of 18-29 run dont walk, do what ever it takes to get on American Idol because the World(free World) Watches American Idol! and even the losers are Winners!

OMG OMG OMG. Mandisa said the word “Jesus”. I must have missed that night because I thought the word “lifestyle” was the no no word that night. Didn’t that get her kicked off of idol. I mean come on, its acceptable to say bad words, but she should have been banned from performing on stage for saying “Jesus”. He only gave his life for us, I don’t think that warrants a shout it on T.V.

Yep Jex, sorry, but E is another one that I can’t stand! It has nothing to do with his looks. Looks don’t make the singer. It is purely about the voice. He has that vibratto thing that you either love or hate. And I hate!

My memory is poor at best, but I definitely remember her saying the word Jesus and they DIDN’T bleep it out….because I DID fall out my chair from shock and awe. It wasn’t during a song, it was during one of her interview segments…and I was proud of her. And amazed at AI for bucking the system and letting it stand.

Why the hate for Edub, mystique? He had a great voice..

Yeah, I remember her saying Jesus too. And if memory serves correctly she was voted off the next night. Pitiful! Gospel is where she wants to be and she will do well with it.

Regarding Edub, sorry, but it is just the way I feel about him. He had a quality to his voice that just annoyed the h3ll out of me!! I know I am in the minority on that thought, because everyone else seems to love him. Thats ok!
