12/6: Check out Taylor’s CD in advance

VH1 here has Taylor’s CD available to sample.
It should satisfy Taylor fans. Lots of Doobie Brothers-type riffs, brassy Steve Winwood-like sounds and exuberant old-school rock, plus a few heartfelt ballads. I think he held his ground and did an album that reflected what he wanted, which may not make it a triple platinum seller driven by radio hits but will solidify his hardcore base. My prediction is he’ll sell in the Fantasia/Ruben 1.5 to 2 million range but not how Kelly or Carrie have done.

12/6: Lost escapes Idol

ABC’s “Lost” lost a lot of audience this past spring going up against “American Idol’ so the network has decided to move the show to 10 p.m. Wednesdays starting in February. In its place is a couple of, um, sacrificial lamb sitcoms: “Knights of Prosperity” and “In Case of Emergency.” I’ve seen a couple of episodes of “Knights” and it’s a wee bit oddball but not bad counterprogramming vs. the “Idol” results show. “Lost” now faces off against “CSI:NY” and “Medium.”
