12/6:Taylor track list/Daughtry stays at #2

Daughtry sales dropped 50% in week two but he stayed as the runner up, this time to the new Incubus, according to Hits Daily Double. So he’s up to 450K in sales, already more than Clay’s latest and triple Ruben’s total. And his single “It’s Not Over” technically hits radio stations today. If it becomes a hit, he should easily cruise to platinum, only the second non-winner to reach that pinnacle. Only Bo Bice, Josh Gracin and Clay Aiken have outsold him among non winners and he’s on pace to surpass Josh in a couple of weeks and Bo within a month.

Here’s info from billboard about Taylor’s CD, out Dec. 12:

The silver-haired Alabama native will be putting his own spin on Smokey Robinson classic “Ain’t That Peculiar,” originally performed by Marvin Gaye. “Wherever I Lay My Hat,” written by Gaye, and “Dream Myself Awake,” by Thomas, are also included. The Adams/Jim Vallance-penned “The Right Place” was originally written for Ray Charles to perform shortly before his death.

“Soul Thing” and “The Deal” were both written by Hicks and released on his second independent album “Under the Radar” before he auditioned for the popular television show.

It’s ranked at #17 on Amazon as of the moment I checked. It’s priced aggressively at $9.72.

Here’s the track list:

“Runaround

“Dream Myself Awake”

“Heaven Knows”

“Gonna Move”

“Wherever I Lay My Hat”

“Give Me Tonight”

“Just To Feel That Way”

“The Maze”

“Places I’ve Been”

“Soul Thing”

“The Deal”

“The Right Place

ACtually Bo Bice has also sold more than Daughtry. He was at 650K+ last time I checked.

Yikes. I do not like Daughtry. He looks ridiculous on stage trying to “rock” so hard on his cheesy pop single It’s Not Over. His commercial success has nothing to do with his talent because obviously he does not have one. Damn idol for producing Daughtry.

True. I’ll fix that. Bice is at 650K or so. It may take Daughtry a month to surpass that, even in a worse case scenerio. Let’s say he drops to 100K next week, 75K the following week and 50K the week after. That gets him over 650K.

Tina, you’re confusing Chris with your idol, Taylor Hicks. Now that’s pure cheese. Good luck with his CD by the way.

Every music critic whether they’ve liked the CD or not has given Daughtry props for his talent. They say the man has the voice of a rock god and can sing his ass off and he does.

Daughtery sold 450K in 2 weeks, it took Bice a year to hit 650k. Daughtry will easily go platinium after his video is released and his single is just being officially released today.

Chris will easily surpass Bo in sales. He is not just another wannabe singer trying to mooch off idol fame. He has really got the voice to back it up.

I am really excited about the release of Taylors album. Runaround is fun and for those longing for a different sound in todays boring selection of music it will be a welcome change. I love The Right Place! Can totally see Ray Charles having done that one, and Taylor does it proud too.

Bo around longer than Chris? I am not sure about that one but I guess we will have to wait and see!

Mystique, I caught that comment of yours regarding Simon. I agree!! He’s a cutie even though he is much older than the two of us.

This is to Tina, the obvious one without any knowledge of what talent sounds like or looks like(not that looks are even worth talking about when musical talent is being discussed.) I’m from Greensboro NC, been to his DAUGHTRY first show, been to a lot of his Absent Element shows. I just want to clarify that Idol did not produce Chris, he was singing before Idol came out. He has been amazing people with his vocals and stage presence for years now. I’ve been to my share of other concerts so don’t think I’m just talking about him. I’m no expert, but clearly you have no idea what your talking about. And by the way, Bo, though slightly talented, is more of a Rock “image” that was produced by American Idol, so kiss it.

Really who cares if Daughtry sells more than Bo Bice? So his CD is what his fans were expecting – good for him. Bo Bice recorded his CD after surgery, being split in half, and still at Bo’s worst he is better than Daughtry. However, Bo’s CD was not what his fans were expecting. It was rather Clive’s Davis attempt to get Bo on the radio, which worked more or less.

Hits come and go. Bo is a brilliant song writer and his songs have potential to become classics. Listen to his Sinner in a Sin, Tombstones Don’t Talk Back, or Lonely Boys Blues. Daughtry would not worth a Bo Bice’s finger even if Daughtry sells millions of CDs, which he probably will.

Bo was a talented singer and performer on AI, can not argue with that. A brilliant songwriter? No way! If his own material was seen as classic brillance they would have used his songs on his CD instead of hiring writers. TRT was not great, but his own material would have tanked. Most of the songs on Chris’s album are his own or collaborated with others and he also has a great voice which all add up to a great debut album.

haha @ lanah…you’re theory that Bo is a better singer than Chris is hilarious…ask any rock musician and they will say Chris has a sick voice. But, it is kinda hard to compare the two. One is a crack head that has a classic rock vibe. Other has a Staind’ish, Bush’ish, Fuel’ish type sound.
