12/1: Hicks comments “misunderstood”

Comments Taylor Hicks said to Relix implying he was disavowing the show were taken out of context, In Touch reported.

Hicks said when he told Relix magazine series execs pressured him into recording his first single, “Do I Make You Proud,” it was not meant to degrade the musical TV show in any way. The story said he also said he didn’t plan to watch the show anymore.

“Those words were taken completely out of context,” the singer claimed. “I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to be on ‘American Idol.’ It’s a show that teaches a lot of young people about music and ties families together. I’m very grateful.”

Hicks will be on Leno tonight. He’ll probably clarify his comments then, too. When I first saw the Relix story, I was skeptical. Sure, Hicks wanted to use “Idol” for further his career, no duh, but he sure isn’t going to bite the hand that fed him.

And proving that William Hung’s 15 minutes have now extended far past their expiration date, check this out.

If he can’t do any better than how he was the other night on the Rockerfeller Christmas Show, he won’t enjoy fifteen minutes of fame, he was simply horrible. He came off like the goofey kid in the tenth grade at the local high school talent show, HORRIBLE.

I think performing for a crowd like that can be a bit intimidating. It’s not like the AI crowds who would cheer regardless of how the performance went. All performers have a period when their live performances are horrible. Hopefully Taylor’s won’t last long.

When I read his comment yesterday it made me start to wonder about him, that maybe fame has tainted him. But, I am sure it is quite easy to have your comments taken out of context with the conflict hungry media. He has got to have respect for idol, because without the help of that show he would most likely be playing smiths olde bar tonight.

Sorry to hear that his performance was bad, wish I had seen it! Maybe he was just nervous. That was his first big televised performance out of AI, right? Well, guess we will be able to judge once his cd comes out. I am really pulling for him!

It reminds me of the old saying ” it is better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt”! Clearly, you cannot polish up this pig and make it a prom queen. Hate to say I told you so but…..

You got it right Reg, my man!! How the hell that crooning idiot EVER won IDOL is a million dollar question. I always thought he sounded like a high school choir boy. And those “beatless” moves? I’m sure the chicks enjoy hitting the dance floor with HIM! (insert sarcasm here). You’ll find his CD at BIG LOTS next year….on the clearance rack!!!

yes, I agree with you. I think everyone has a moment in the sun that sometimes “dims”. Live perfomances are tough. Taped performances are tough. Not to mention that these guys are on the road and do a lot of productions back to back and night after night. So, they are tired. Imaginge going to a football game for about a week and screaming the whole time. Your voice would more than likely take a beating. I am undecided about how I feel about Taylor’s singing, but I do wish him well. He got out there and tried and for that he is successful. No, not because he is an American Idol—but because he went for his dream. How many of us don’t go for ours….
