9/14: Video from the Taylor Smith’s performance
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I saw at least two women with videocameras taping virtually the entire Taylor Hicks’ Smith’s Olde Bar performance in the early hours of Sept. 13. Not surprisingly, they are popping up on youtube.com.
Here’s part 1 of him singing “Georgia on My Mind” and part II here with the final 36 seconds here with him on the harmonica.
This is Taylor singing ‘Hell of a Day’. The sound quality is really really distorted in this one and it’s kind of dark.
Here’s {Taylor riffing with his buddy Wynn Christian](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad8Z_QwkM6Y). For some reason, the camera makes his tan jacket look mottled when in fact it isn’t.
Finally, one more of Taylor singin’ the blues in a way you’d never see on ‘Idol’.

I can’t get the video either, it is blocked on this computer. Will check it out tonight though! I am sure he did great.
Maybe it is a good thing I can’t view the video. Seeing it will just make me start kicking myself even harder that I didn’t go!

Shay - answer to your question…probably
On stage he downed 2 drinks at least, and who knows how much back stage. He may have even smoked…SHOCKING!

I thought he looked a little tipsy. I am just glad he is able to be himself, even if it does mean he has a drink or two!!!

At the end of the show at Smith’s he said thank you to the crowd for letting him be himself, or something to that affect. Can’t wait til he’s out of the AI death grip and can handle his own career

Taylor is just so “real”, he is the kind of guy that you would expect to run into in the grocery store or something. Drinkin on stage, thats my boy! Smoking, well, thats not good :)
I will be so glad when he goes out on a solo tour. Unless tickets are outrageously overpriced I will be in the front row!!!!!!!

I am glad he won, but of all the winners, I wish he could disassociate himself with idol the most to do his own thing. Not saying he shouldn’t be grateful for all of us dialing in, I just want him to have a career without AI attached to it. GO TAYLOR!!

So the fact the he is being himself makes him an alcoholic? I hope Taylor isn’t one of those musicians who gets drunk everytime he performs.. He HOnestly, that is a turn off for me. Smoking will also destroy his voice big time.
And I hope he doesn’t end up playing only in those smokey bars. I hate going to those places. Even if he doesn’t do arenas, he has to try to book classier places such as theaters or medium sized venues. I hope I will be able to watch him in concert some time, but Taylor no more bars please.. Some of your fans like me don’t like going to those places, OK?

tucko…understnad your concerns, but not offense, I hope Taylor doesn’t have to clear all venues and behaviors by you before performing. Take it or leave it, no ones forceing you to be a fan, don’t ask Taylor to change.
And I don’t think haveing a few drinks at an anfter party concert constitutes an alcholic. Give the guy a break he just did an Idol concert and was having a little fun with some old friends.

There is nothing wrong with the man taking a drink or two to unwind. If that’s what relaxes him and let’s him be himself, then that should be perfectly fine. And Tuko, I am sure he will not always play in bars. He knows all of his fans don’t like it, so some of the venues will be different.

Oh my God, this is awful. Horribly embarassing. Was he making fun of Ray Charles or imitating? I really, really don’t like it. I don’t think that Taylor would have acted like this if he were sober. This one didn’t make us proud.
