9/11: Idols back in town 9/12!

I’m not attending the return visit of the “Idol” gang Tuesday at the Arena at Gwinnett so please offer your thoughts and opinions on this blog if you ARE attending. I’d love to hear how it goes.

There’s also a post-“Idol” party at Smith’s Olde Bar with Taylor’s old band the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra. Warning: this is a TINY venue, so get there early if you want a seat. It’s $15 a pop to get in. No guarantee that Taylor will come by but if you think $15 is worth a gamble, go for it. Note that even if Taylor does show up, it’ll be late, likely well past 11 p.m. since the Gwinnett concert isn’t over til around 9:30 p.m. I might stop by myself and if I do, I’ll certainly post about it.

The band has been smartly shadowing the “Idol” tour the entire time. It seems like Taylor will pop by maybe 20% of the time. Last month when “Idol” came to town, Taylor did not make it to the post party but word on the street he went to Tongue & Groove in Buckhead instead.

Chris Daughtry has shown up for a couple of post parties including Houston on Saturday. And Katharine came by in Denver Sept. 5, though she didn’t sing. Taylor’s cohorts Bucky, Ace and Elliott have gone on stage with (and without) him in the past.

The tour is almost over and the 10 will split up and pursue their own careers soon!

I can’t wait until they pursue their own careers to see what each one does. I think Pickler will end up on t.v. for sure and Lisa will do Broadway.

There is a casting call in Atlanta for the Lion King and my niece is trying out. Root for her that they can use her for something. Even if its just an extra. She is really good!!

Good Morning All! Shay, I’ve got my fingers crossed for your niece!! What an awesome opportunity.

Oh, I wish I was going again! I would love to go to the show tonight just to see my Taylor do his thing, but I’m not. I might cruise around town and try to find him at an afterparty though!

Maybe its just me and thats Ok too.

But is it my imagination, or does it appear that Taylor and Clay Akien both seem to have a Larger Presence then their co-idol contestants and winners? I shall attempt to explain my bewilderment and why I have drawn a conclusion as to who I feel are the Two Biggest Idols so Far. Granted, Kelly Clarkson has outsold all the others. However, she (Kelly) dosent cause near as much Stir when she walks suprising shows up at a venue or walks out on a stage(sans-Clay during last years finale to sing with his look wanna-be, the audience(myself included jaws dropped and became excited, why? I dont know, but I sure was Happy!). Whenever, Mr. T. Taylor if your nasty. pops up anywhere. folks stumble over each other, I could be anywhere and in my house and I will stop what I am doing to see what he(Talyor is on, what he is saying, if he will sing anything and the same goes for Clay. Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie, Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, Justin who? Diana Degarmo who? none of those other contestants or winners seem to have the Presence or make Me stop what I am doing just to Look at them. Whats even more stranger is both or white as day as I am black as night and I love both of them. I am just saying not Kelly, Fantasia, Ruben, or Carrie or any of the other contestants have as much an interesting Presence as Taylor and Clay. I dont care how many records Kelly Clarkson has sold, folks arent screaming or jumping up and down smiling when she walks out on stage or shows up at a talk show. not like they do Taylor or Clay. now someone explain that to me please :-)

msteven, how are you??

O.k. I can agree that Taylor has that likability factor going for him. We don’t know how the sales will go until he releases an album but I predict he will do better than all of the rest. As far as Clay, I would have to say that your reaction to him is a personal thing. I am a fan of his, but I don’t know if he has a larger presence than the rest. Everybody have their favs so we all react differently to each one of then. Pickler does nothing for me, but others light up when they see her. So, it depends on everyone’s individual take on that artist.

I am sure she does shay! I am just going to try to catch a glimpse of him :)

Hi msteven! You are so right. I went to a Kelly/ Clay show a few years ago and everyone was screaming and on their feet for Clay, but people started to LEAVE as Kelly came out. It was crazy!

The fascination and popularity of Taylor and Clay? I think it is the “everyman” factor. Those guys seem so real. Clay was a geek who transformed before our eyes. And Taylor has got the awesome personality to go with that voice and those moves! He is an average guy who had an average life, he is the kind of guy that you may have been sitting next to in some dive of a bar and you just didn’t know it.

They are so real, while Diana, Kat, even Kelly Clarkson seem as though they are putting on an act.

msteven, my sweet! What is this, old home week? I’m convinced that we have some kind of chemical reaction to our favorites. Taylor and Clay both appealed to a wide audience with good voices and performance skills but they are the only ones who have fanbases with names that stuck. Soul Patrollers and Claymates are tough to beat by anyone’s standards and seem to have become emotionally enmeshed in the lives of their heroes. The Soul Patrol will have to be careful, however. Claymates were so fanatical that they alienated a lot of people and lost fans for Clay.

They say we have a chemical reaction to our loved ones but I think we react chemically to everyone we meet and that reaction helps to determine how we respond to each person. Have you ever taken an instant dislike to someone but can’t really explain why? Or felt that you’ve been friends with someone for years but only just met them? I think that’s chemical.

Greetings Shay Mystique! I bring you tidings of great joy!..uhhh..my badd. wrong greeting! I still have 3 monsths..(sheephisly grining) Any hoo! I am feeling you Mystique as far as Clay and Kelly. I mean Kelly is good. sells millions. but she just dont get the screams and attention that Clay or Taylor generates. I mean I have nothing against the others. But let Clay walk on a show, stage or wherever even amongest STARs and folks still be trying to catch a glimpse. Same with Taylor. Like I said, maybe its just me. If someone gave me tickets to see either Taylor or Clay. I am in the house. but Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie, Bo, Diana? I pass. They all sing well but their Presences..just dont get much of a Toot out of my horn.

Diedre MY FAIR LADY! HOW ARE YOU?

Great seeing you as well as others as we go into the FALL! I dont know Diedre, but We both seem to be chemically mixed together as we seem to feel the same Vibe about the same folks! Great anaogly about meeting someone for the first time and instantly disliking them on one side of the coin. Yet on the other side. meeting someone for the first time and liking them instantly ..for life. How strange and Complex we humans are!

I don’t know if we always agree, msteven, but we both have the habit of being pretty longwinded with whatever we have to say. :)

Humans are a strange kind of animal, that’s for sure. Look at all the ‘discussions’ we all get into over the course of an Idol season. I think there’s a fan for just about any singer out there. Yet we all manage to get along really well. We have learned to trust each other despite the serious MPD problems that surfaced last year. That says a lot for our kind! At least, it says a lot for the people that Rodney’s blog attracts.

Yeah msteven, you still have a bit of a wait for tidings of great joy :) I am just be glad to be getting some tidings of cooler weather about right now! I love it!

Everyone has their own personal favorite idols, with a precious few being embraced by all. I hope Taylor does a solo tour very soon because I will be there, front row! If someone were to give me Clay tickets I would go, he has got an awesome voice. I adore Carrie Underwood but you are right there, not much of a presence. Heck of a voice though, I just got her CD and it great! I am in love with her new song.

Hey greg! We are here :)

Congrats, greg! As you probably know, I have a Tech graduate in the family but I’m always happy to hear that UGA won (except when they play Tech).

I remember talking about this blog before, msteven. It allows so many different people to get together and chat in an atmosphere of trust. I always feel lucky that I have gotten a chance to know all you fine people and I thank Rodney for opening up his blog to whatever discussion happens to get going. We always manage to get back to American Idol, but, because we can talk about all sorts of different things, we have become a community.

And, for anyone lurking in the background, we welcome newcomers with open arms.

Yes, shay, it got very warm and fuzzy in here for a little while! A welcome change to the normal nasty remarks we usually get around here.

Hi Yo, it is very well timed that all the albums are coming out around the same time. Kind of a continued idol competition!! I will be picking up Taylor and Chris, I wish the others success (except for Pickles, hope she flops!)
