9/10: 7 CDs in two months
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
EW has noted that seven “Idol” contestans are releasing albums in the next two months. Who’s going to sell the most?
Here are the seven:
Clay Aiken 9/19: “A Thousand Different Ways.” Mostly covers as we’ve noted.
Ruben Studdard 10/17. “The Return” Straight ahead R&B
Kellie Pickler 10/31 “Small Town Girl”: For some reason, her album is scheduled to come out before the winner! EW says it will be along the lines of Carrie Underwood and lean country. No surprise there. And she’ll have a song about her shoes.
Fantasia 11/14: Promises to be more upbeat.
Taylor HIcks 11/14: He hasn’t really started recording it yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t come out this day.
Kat McPhee: 11/14: You gotta wonder if this will end up being Celine Dion-ish.
Chris Daughtry 11/21: We can’t imagine he’ll be forced to do Ryan Cabrera-type schlock the way poor Bo did.

I’m predicting the sales to be high for Taylor, Fantasia, and Chris with Taylor outselling the rest by far. Rueben already has a hit single out from his new album so he should do o.k. as well. Kat and Clay are iffy to me. Not sure how they will do.
And Pickler will fall flat on her face!

Morning. I think each one has their own fan base. Depending on the size of them, they could all potentially do well in sales. I know I’ll be getting at least 4 of them myself.
Let’s be peaceful today in rememberance of all those lives lost 5 years ago today.

Yeah, I was looking at some Sept. 11 photos and it brought back alot of memories. I can’t believe it has been 5 years. That was a sad, sad time in America when those planes hit.

I think we all know where we were 5 years ago today. And I hope we all agree that what happened to us that day should never, ever be forgotten.
Andy Rooney said something last night that annoyed the hell out of me. I can’t quote him exactly but the gist was that 9/11 proved that there are a lot of people out there who hate us. Maybe we should look to what we’re doing and change so that they won’t hate us so much.
Wouldn’t that be like blaming the Jewish family when the neo-nazi teen down the street spray paints a swastika on their garage door. What can the Jewish family do to make that kid like them a little more? WHAT!
Or the young gay man who is beaten to death by a group of homophobes. What kind of person should he have become to get those nice homophobes to like him better?
I don’t even have to explain the number of atrocities commited on black people! How could they have changed who they are to make the hatemongers not hate them so much?
The United States did not cause the attack. Muslim extremists caused the attack with the same kind of racial, ethnic and religious hate that we have seen before. This time, that hate is directed at an entire country. And it remains in place today! We are still trying to figure out the best way of dealing with it. Whether you, my friends, agree with the current US foreign policy or not….I think we all know in our hearts that this did not end with 9/11.

Good Morning Ladies. I am only planning on getting 2 of those albums. I hope Pickler does fall flat on her face!

Good Morning everyone. The only CD from the above list I can see me buying is…well, you already know, I don’t even have to say it. I don’t care what the critics say, how the reviews look or whatever. He will be only the second AI contestant I’ve supported. Kelly C. was the first.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Ruben and Fantasia come back. I’m hoping Fantasia’s album will be more mature lyrically this time around. I’m praying that Chris’s album is the total opposite of Bo’s. Please!!!

I am waiting on Fantasia’s sophomore album too. I hope it is a success. I will by Taylor’s album as well. I probably won’t get the rest.

shut up Deirdre! You sound like a freak. Stop patronizing the black population because that’s exactly how you come across. Blacks know who we are and don’t need some cracker sounding off. Take your political comments elsewhere…this forum is about American Idol. AND I PREDICT PICKLER WILL DO OKAY! The girl had personality AND aroused the libido in men. Remember Marilyn Monroe? Couldn’t really act…sure as hell couldn’t sing…but she was THE pin-up girl. In walks Pickler. Blonde. Period.

Sorry if I offended you. It certainly wasn’t my intention. The point I was trying to make was that 9/11 was a hate crime perpetrated on the people of the United States…all of us! Extremist Muslims hate us! They want us all dead! It doesn’t matter how nice we are to them.
BTW, I’ll talk about anything I damned well please. If you don’t like what I have to say…feel free to ignore it!

Deirdre, I didn’t take your comment as patronizing black people. As you know, I am black myself. I think “Shut Up” unfairly passed judgment on you without even knowing what type of person you are.

Thanks, Shay! I appreciate that. I would never want to offend anybody but sometimes people only hear one thing when something completely different is meant. Shutup only saw one sentence in a long soap box-y speech about how being nice to unreasonable hate doesn’t change that hate. 9/11 brings out a very sad, yet dangerous, tiger in me. Probably should have kept my mouth shut but I needed to say my peace and I knew you guys wouldn’t mind! :)

Yes, people only hear or see what they want to see. We know that you are not like that, so that’s all that matters. And of course you can voice your opinion whenever you want to.

Stop “downing” Kellie Pickler. She’s good - with both her talent and her personality. I predict she’ll do great and I can’t wait for her first album. I truly admire her and all of us could learn something from her. Go Kellie!!!!

All you Kellie haters better look out. I just heard Kellie’s new single and it sounds like a country hit to me. Kellie may not sell as well as Carrie but Carrie had the winner of AI title to help her out. From what I have heard from that one Kellie song, her album will be as good if not better than Carries. To all that want Kellie to fall on her face with her album…..it won’t happen.
