8/15: Kimberley Locke coming 8/19

Kimberley Locke.jpg

If you haven’t seen season two third place finisher Kimberley Locke in awhile, here’s your chance — for free! Her first name is frequently misspelled and it is on the Star 94 Web site. Oh, well. I’ve done it, too!

Here’s the link.

Star 94 presents Petapalooza, the FIRST EVER “pet party in the park,” Saturday August 19th at Suwanee Town Center Park. Bring your pet out for a full day of fun, clinics, dog events…plus live music from both local talent and Kimberly[sic] Locke, food vendors, Angie Woods the Atlanta Dog Whisperer, Ben & Jerry’s, interactive displays, Pet adoptions with Southern Hope Humane Society and more. The event is FREE and festivities begin at 3:00 pm with live music to start at 5:30pm. Check back for the complete lineup of all the bands closer to the date.

Locke hits the stage at 9:30 p.m.

I spoke to her only once before at a Divas Rock concert in December 2004 at the Atlanta Civic Center (also featuring Deborah Cox, RuPaul and Deborah Gibson). She didn’t seem too thrilled about talking about “Idol,” like she really wanted to put it behind her. I wonder if she still feels the same way. I’ll try to get an interview with her and see how it plays out.

Also, did anyone catch George Huff opening for Blind Boys of Alabama last Thursday at Atlanta Botanical Gardens?

8/15: Celebrity Duets/Dancing With the Stars

Simon Cowell’s latest project, Fox’s “Celebrity Duets” debuts on August 29 with big-name singers paired with non-singing celebs. The actual singers include Taylor Dayne, Peter Frampton, Lee Ann Womack, Smokey Robinson, Richard Marx, Macy Gray, Belinda Carlisle, Randy Travis, Dionne Warwick, Brian McKnight, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, James INgram Aaron Neville, Wynonna Judd, Clint Black, Kenny Loggins and Michael Bolton. Renowned producer David Foster, who has shown to be pretty blunt as a guest judge on “Idol” and “Nashville Star,” will be a judge and Wayne Brady hosts.

So far, Fox just released the eight nonsingers: such as Chris Jericho (a former WWE wrestler), Alfonso Ribeiro (“Fresh Prince” and former host of some syndicated show in which ordinary people dressed up and sang like their favorite singers) , Lucy Lawless (“Xena”, Lea Thompson (“Back to the Future” “Caroline in the City”). actor Cheech Marin (“Cars,â€? “Nash Bridgesâ€?), 2004 Olympic Gold Medal-winning gymnast Carly Patterson, pop culture guru Jai Rodriguez (“Queer Eyeâ€?), and actor/comedian Hal Sparks (seen on many VH1 specials as a commentator and host of a WB show “Survival of the Richest”).

And ABC also announced its lineup of celebs in “Dancing with the Stars,” debuting Sept. 12:

Tucker Carlson of MSNBC, talk-show host Jerry Springer, Vivica A. Fox, Harry Hamlin, Joe Lawrence (yes, Joey now goes by Joe!), Mario Lopez, Sara Evans, Willa Ford, Monique Coleman, former beauty queen Shanna Moakler and three-time Super Bowl champion Emmitt Smith.

So this is what we get to enjoy during “Idol” offseason. :)
