8/10: Elliott releases a single
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Here’s the press release:
American Idol Star Elliott Yamin’s First Single “Storm” Benefits JDRF, Katrina Fund
American Idol Star Elliott Yamin is releasing his first single “The Storm” as a benefit for Juvenile Diabetes and Katrina victims. After his surprising ouster from the competition, he finished recording this song, which he also co-wrote. It is unlike anything he did in the competition.
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) August 10, 2006 — 2006 American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin is releasing his first single “The Storm” since the fan favorite was unexpectedly booted from the competition. This release marks Yamin’s first creative effort as BOTH a vocal artist and co-writer. After his surprising ouster this past spring, soulful crooner Elliott and his best buddy producer/co-writer Terry “Big Planz” Thompson (www.soulloversentertainment.com) quietly spent time together in a recording studio. “The Storm” is the result of this collaboration.
“Now that “E’s” deal is just about complete, the project we started working on pre-Idol can finally be released,” said Big Planz. In 2005, the project was commissioned to to raise money for a Hurricane Katrina Fund, but had to be shelved when Elliott got caught up in the American Idol “storm.”
The single benefits the two lifelong friend’s favorite charities. Twenty percent of all sales will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and twenty percent will go to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, 40 cents of every dollar sold.
“This is unlike anything E has sung publicly before, and it really shows off his voice,” Thompson said. “Elliott carries 95 percent of the song,” he added.
“The Storm” will be available by the end of August, from Internet sources such as I-Tunes, Amazon.com, as well as Tower Records and other music stores. For more information, go to www.soulloversentertainment.com.

Carla, have you ever been to Oktoberfest in Savannah? If so, is it fun!

Nope. I haven’t been to Savannah since I was a little girl. What is Oktoberfest?

Apparently, Whoopi Goldberg and Jackee’ will be making guest appearances on “Everybody hates Chris”. Whoopi says that she and Chris Rock met at the show of American Idol (I think it was one of the last shows) and they bonded so well because neither one of them had any interests of being there. They only went because their kids made them go. I remember us saying on the blog why in the world was Whoopi Goldberg and Chris Rock at the show. I guess we know now. But I didn’t think that was apppropriate for Whoopi to say that. Just say our kids wanted to come so we supported them! No need for the negative comment.

They usually have a big party on Riverstreet (by the river) with live music, entertainment, food, etc. Me and my husband are going that weekend for a mini anniversary since we didn’t get to go anywhere for our real anniversary.

I dont know if they will be fighting in Savannah Shay, so i think you will be ok. Where I am from they use to get too drunk and you know how people act when they drink.
By shay

Well, hopefully the drinking and fighting is kept to a minimum. I have heard people bring their whole families so maybe it ain’t too bad. But I plan on being in my hotel room the majority of the weekend….not for that, but to get some much needed rest!

Happy Friday Everyone! I’m sorry, but I didn’t have a chance to get you guys anything, but you know I luv ya!
The only two CDs from American Idol that I plan on buying are Taylor’s and Elliott’s. Well, I have Kelly’s, but she was a pioneer, so she really doesn’t count. I wouldn’t mind seeing either of them in concert as well. I don’t feel that way about any other contestant. I think Taylor’s energy would just keep me up on my feet the whole time. And Elliott’s soulful sound would have me in the zone. I think Elliott’s voice may have been tired from touring and recording the single. Maybe that’s why people didn’t like his recent performance.
I went to a local Oktoberfest a few years ago and it was just a bunch of old people drinking and eating veinersnitzel and sauerkraut. It was fun, but no big deal. I’ll use any excuse to party – even with old folks!

Mornin’ All! Happy Friday! I will avoid E’s new single! But it is no secret that I don’t like him. Now Taylor, well, I will be one of those people that line up at midnight on release day to get his CD!
I have always wanted to go to an Oktoberfest!! And Savannah does their parties up right, so you know that will be fun.

Carla, sometimes I have to party with the older crowd because my husband is ten years old than me. Sometimes I have to listen to the street jazz, eat hotdogs and drink beer with the older crowd. It doesn’t bother me.

honey, they jack up prices on River Street and around Savannah for EVERYTHING… mardi gras, st. patrick’s day (ESPECIALLY THIS), dogwood blooming, azalea blooming, midnight in the garden, you name it, they loooooooooove to get those tourists in!!!
and while river street was nicely improved, like underground, charlotte, and others, roush company made it a tourist mecca

Linny, I guess all cities do that. Whenever something big happens, they jack up the rates. It’s not fair, but unless you want to sleep under a tree, you have to pay the price!

It’s cool with me. He is so out of that immaturity stage. For some reason, I have problems dating the guys in their 20’s. They just haven’t grown up and I am on a “big girl” level when it comes to life. Like most guys I have spoken to are not even thinking about starting families, buying homes, and starting their own businesses. They still want to hit the club every weekend and I am totally different. I go to clubs maybe twice a year. The only reason why I went last weekend was because it was my brother’s birthday. I would much rather be sitting on a lawn with a nice picnic listening to jazz music or walking in the park holding my husband’s hand reminiscing about when we first started dating. I don’t diss the ones that hang out, but that is just not me at all. I go to parties, but 99% of the time, my husband is with me and it is usually a close friend or family member who is throwing the party. I guess I act older than what I am so his age does not bother me at all.

Since I turned 30 my whole outlook on life changed. I got married, just had a baby and I am through with the partying life I had since I went away to college. I had a strict mother and I didnt get to party in high school, but when I got to college, it was on!!!! When I moved to Atl, I partied even more, I am now ready for the simple life, I go to work and go home, the only thing I do without my wife is go to the Falcon games. I prefer this life much more than my younger days… Too much going on out there. Shay, the little things are so important, like you said, just walking and holding hands.

just give him time, i was the same way until i met my wife. It was like a light came on in my head and my WHOLE way of thinking just changed. One piece of advise is dont force the change, just allow him to see there is more to life than the bs they are doing.

Ladies, we have to make two choices when it comes to younger men. Either you can tough it out until they grow up on their own, or you can chose to leave. Neither way is wrong. And its not all young guys. Some of them do the right thing from highschool all the way up until they get married and settle down. But one piece of advice I always give. Never Ever try and change a man. It won’t happen. He will do what he wants to do until he wants to do it, no matter what the consequences i.e. losing a wife, etc. They have to grow up on their own. Some women can take it, some can’t and they leave. It just depends on what type of person you are.
By Jex
August 11, 2006 11:49 AM | Link to this
I still love the jerk So, he’s a jerk. Which means he’s not treating you right. Why settle? You can be by yourself for all that’s worth.
I can understand the love part, but do you reallly love him or do you love being with someone?
Being alone is not so bad. Trust me.
And if you wait for hime to ‘come around’, you might be in for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong wait. Meanwhile, someone really great could walk right past you.

Shay - Octoberfest in Savannah ain’t all that. But if you are in Savannah anyway, it can be fun. River Street is a pretty cool place to hang out. Octoberfest will just mean more food and beer vendors and a bigger crowd than usual.

Jex is right. But Mystique has to decide for herself what she wants to do. Obviously you deserve better, but only you know the situation and whether it is worth dealing with. So we aren’t going to get down on Mystique about her boyfriend because like she said, she does love him and to her, she may see a lot of potential as far as improvement. SO good luck on your situation. You will always get much support from the blog.

St. Patrick’s is the only thing they really jack up prices for. If you don’t have a room for St Paddy’s by now, it will be hard to find one anywhere near the parade or River St.

Great points from all of you…. Mystique, you are not wrong for riding out the storm. If you feel there is potential, stay. Eventually, he will see the light. It might take a dramtic event to change his mind (not trying to wish bad karma) but for me that is what it was. I did not want to be in that situation anymore after that. I saw there were other things that were right in my face that i took for granted. Like Shay said, it may be a long wait, but the sun will shine bright when you are both on that one accord.

shay’s right. mystique if he’s not the way you want him to be, don’t expect him or even ask him to change. For one thing, that’s not fair. For another, it’s just a waste of your time if he’s not making you happy.
So if you choose to stay, you shouldn’t complain.
