8/7: Nashville Star auditions

Is Idol not quite right for you? Do you see yourself as more Buddy Jewell than Taylor Hicks? Nashville Star is working season five and there is no age limit!
USA’s “Nashville Starâ€? is returning for a fifth season in January 2007 but they’re searching for country stars in Atlanta. Auditions are taking place on Thursday, August 31 from 10AM-6PM at Wild Bill’s, 2075 Market Street Duluth, GA 30096. All contestants MUST register by 2 PM on the day of auditions to be considered.

8/7: Simon Fuller’s grand plans

One major flaw in “Idol” is the lousy songs they force the poor winners and runner ups to sing at the end of the show. Does anybody ever want Kat McPhee to sing “My Destiny” ever again? Does anybody think “Do I Make You Proud” truly makes Taylor Hicks proud?
So Simon Fuller, the show creator (not to be mistaken for Simon Cowell) plans to run a songwriting competition with the show, a song that will hopefully be used by the sixth “Idol” winner in 2007.
