5/1: Possible song spoilers

According to K.T. Tunstall’s myspace Web site, Kat will be doing “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” a top 10 hit on the hot AC chart. I saw Tunstall in concert recently and she is amazing! Her single is now a fixture on Dave FM and Star 94. I actually said I thought Kat could do a great job with this song in my blog a couple days ago. For folks unfamiliar with her, she’s a wonderful 30-year-old U.K. artist with thoughtful, smart lyrics and an attractive, mildly edgy mien.
MJ’s Idol blog says Taylor might tackle Bon Jovi’s no. 1 country single “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” a wonderful tune aided and abetted by our very own Jennifer Nettles. For you trivia buffs, this is apparently the first rock group to ever land at the top of the country chart.
MJ also said that Paris is doing Prince’s “Kiss,” which actually came out in 1986, two years before Paris was born. But the loophole is that Tom Jones and Art of Noise did a lovely remake of the song in 1988. (I remember it well!).
And check this out from the advocate.com. It’s an exclusive in-the-audience look at last Tuesday’s show. The biggest get: Katharine’s teary dad complained to the judges after her performance that they were unfairly harsh on her, something that Ann Nesby told the spy they as relatives weren’t supposed to do. Kat’s dad managed to corner Paula while Randy & Simon got away. The spies also said they sat near Paris’ family and Elliott’s family and that Paris’ family was more animated. The observers also noted how small Paris is, yet how big her voice is.
