March 18 “Idol” notes: Lycos says most popular “Idol” finalist for searches is Bo Bice; 19 Entertainment sells out//Paula in trouble?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
From a Lycos press release earlier this week before most of the Mario controversy—-this shows the two rockers are getting the most searches, a good sign for both. It’s interesting that Anwar and Nadia are not in the top 10.
Meanwhile, if web search activity is any indication, it’s the men who are destined to win American Idol this time around. Of the most-searched potential Idols, the men take seven of the top 10 overall spots. At this point in the competition, the obvious break-out Idol is rocker Bo Bice. Bice is searched five times more than any other Idol finalist. The most-searched American Idols for this week are: Bo Bice, Constantine Maroulis, Anthony Fedorov, Mario Vazquez, Carrie Underwood, Mikalah Gordon, Joseph Murena, Lindsey Cardinale and Nikko Smith.

Sports Entertainment to buy ‘Idol’ creator
Associated Press
NEW YORK - Sports Entertainment Enterprises Inc., which owns most of the Elvis Presley estate, Friday it has agreed to acquire 19 Entertainment Ltd., the British company behind American Idol, for about $156 million in cash and stock.
Sports Entertainment, which is based in Las Vegas and does business as CKX Inc., will pay an additional $36.9 million in either cash or stock following delivery of audited results for the year ending June 30.
Sports Entertainment is controlled by billionaire Robert Sillerman. It licenses the songs of Presley and conducts tours of the Graceland mansion.
The company said it entered into a long-term agreement with Simon Fuller, who founded 19 Entertainment in 1985, to serve as a director of the company.
19 Entertainment has recording contracts with several musicians, including former American Idol participants Fantasia, Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard.
Prosecutors Mulling Hit-And-Run Charges Against Paula Abdul 03.18.2005 7:21 AM EST MTV.com ‘American Idol’ star’s car involved in December freeway accident.
Simon Cowell’s constant ribbing may soon be the least of nontoxic “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul’s problems.
According to The Associated Press, Los Angeles prosecutors are contemplating whether to file misdemeanor criminal charges against the singer for her alleged role in an apparent hit-and-run accident last December on a California freeway.
Frank Mateljan, a spokesperson for the city attorney’s office, told reporters that a Mercedes-Benz registered to Abdul clipped another car December 20 on the eastbound Hollywood Freeway, which runs through the San Fernando Valley. The person driving the Benz, who has not actually been identified as Abdul, changed lanes without looking, striking the aforementioned vehicle. Mateljan said the luxury German automobile continued to rush on its way, the driver never pulling over to exchange information.
The AP report says the driver and passenger in the vehicle Abdul’s car hit used their camera phones to snap a shot of the offending Benz as it sped off. Police then traced the plate back to the singer. According to Mateljan, no one was hurt in the collision, though both Abdul’s driving and criminal records may suffer a few bruises.
Any charges against Abdul will be filed before the weekend. The AP tried contacting Abdul for comment, but the diminutive FOX star and former Lakers cheerleader was traveling abroad, according to her publicist Stephanie Sher.
