Who’s ready for the return of “Lost?”

When we last saw “Lost,” we weren’t so sure just what we were seeing. That bug-eyed weirdo Ben turned some wheel and made the whole island vanish.

Meanwhile, back in the States, good old Locke was not only laying dead in a coffin, he wasn’t even Locke any more. He was being called Jeremy Bentham. And the survivors, who spent four seasons getting off the island, now think they need to get “back” on the island?

So what the heck is going on in what may be the most complicated TV series ever aired?

Season 5 starts tonight with a recap at 8 p.m., followed by new episodes at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. If you’ve heard any spoilers out there on the Internet, let’s not let them loose here.

Instead, talk about what you want to see this season. A Sawyer-Juliet hookup? Sayid put a beatdown on Ben? Some freakin’ answers??

Sound off, Losties.

The time travel got you spooked? Check out our gallery of other time traveling scenes.

Last week’s rewind of the season finale reminded me of a few details I had forgotten. One, Ben says that the person who moves the island (which was him) cannot ever return to the island. That is how he ended up in the Sahara Desert wearing a parka in one of the flash forwards. He also tells Jack that everyone must return to the island — even the dead Locke. Now that my favorites are gone — Charlie, Eko,and Desmond (presumably he is not going back) — I’m not sure what I want for this season. Maybe some more about Faraday and the redheaded researcher with him (forgot her name)?

Nobody’s commenting because nobody remembers after a whole year. They need to stop these long gaps, it’s really putting a damper on the show…anywho, I’ll still be watching tonight.

I’m excited about tonight show. I agree with both. Even though I haven’t missed any seasons or any shows for that matter I am still somewhat lost. There are some characters that I was sad to see go. Eko, Charliem Jin and Michael. Does Walt have to go back? Seems like he would have to go back as well. I’m sick of most of the female characters. Sun is one of the few I can tolerate. I’m sick of Kate and that redhead. Please don’t bring Ana Lucia back.

Just because a character is dead on Lost doesnt mean they dont come back. We’ve already seen Charlie come back and talk to Hurley, remember? And Desmond isnt even dead, folks, so he’s definitely coming back. The time travel theyre going to be focusing on this season (which isnt a spoiler if you’ve paid much attention) allows them to go into the past and show anyone they want.

The only Lostaway I would be never reappears is Eko. The actor wanted out and the producers were miffed cause they had bigger plans for him. Or so I hear on the Internets.

I still think Eko has some unfinished business with the other islanders. I think and hope we see him again. I think Russo still holds some answers as well. Let Shannon stay where ever she is. I never really believed in her and Said as a couple anyway. But I think Boone died too soon.

I’m not so sure about Eko not appearing again because remember when Sayid came to pick Hurley up from the mental institution, he was playing chess with Mr. Eko … I’m so ready for LOST to get started back. They took way too long of a break. I just wanna know what happens and how Jack’s going to bring everyone back to the island. I wonder if they have to bring the pilot too or just the oceanic 6?

Never watched the show on first run. Tried to watch the Mon nite SciFi channel marathons. Started out ok, but it got crazier and crazier. It’s as if the writers decided to throw whatever nonsensical stuff they could dream up into the show. Don’t really give a hoot whether they “go back” or not.

Since the island has not gone “where” but “when”, I think anybody can show up at anytime. It would be interesting to see how the Crash folks handle meeting up with the Dharma folks or even further back (the three toed statue people??). I love LOST and I can’t wait for tonight’s show!!

What is this “Lost” show y’all are talking about? Is it another silly reality show with people on a island? Don’t we have enough of those already? I’m watching rasslin’ instead.

Does anybody really watch this show anymore? The show had a cohesive sort of mysterious plot in the the first year’s episodes, but has become almost comedic in its wierdness and nonsensical plot since then.

I tried to watch tonight and it is worst than ever. They “LOST” me forever …. I’m gone. It is just so stupid. It is like they had no clue from the start where the show was going. I will be LOST no more.

David you said it all! LOL…I gave up watching Lost after Season 3. Questions weren’t being answered and the plots just got out of control. The writer’s attempts at plot twists & turns was too much! At the end of each episode I felt that I was the one who was LOST!! The show now is just too weird and annoying.

Now the island is “skipping” in time, but this “time skipping ” doesn’t apply to everyone or everything. Now Ben has butchers and fortune tellers helping him in the “real world”.

It’s not a matter of “being about to keep up”, it’s a matter of “why would I want to keep up”.

It’s a mess, a complete mess.

I’ve watched Lost from time to time as it does get too complex following storyline, but biggest question I have it this. How does Ben already know what to do as if he has all the answers in advance? Shouldn’t there be a paradox of him meeting himself somewhere in time? Also, didn’t there used to be weird island creatures that appear and disappear at random? What is the answer there?

I never watch Lost on network TV. I can’t stand commercials.

Thank god for Netflix.

The writers don’t even know whatz next with this show…. Locke is dead??? Jack is a drunk??? How much for Kate?????

Sun owns her dad’s company???

Whoa…. Maybe I should stick with Battlestar Gallactica.

This show just keeps getting better. Last night made me want to know more. It is going to fun watching things unfold.

A major question is what is Richard Alpert’s part in all this? He seems to be showing up in different times and places seemingly playing different parts.

By Roekest

First, let me say, I respect peoples’ opinions about the show, whatever their reasons. But don’t think a show is stupid because you can’t keep up.

If trying to figure out what is happening (and believe me, there is a plan here), then may I suggest watching American Idol or 90210? Idol is an emotion-laden “reality” show sporting hundreds of people who either sing like R. Kelly or Beyonce, and no one else. 90210, I’m sure, has plots that even a tween can understand. So if it hurts your melon watching a show that requires its viewers to actually THINK, change the channel.

The “butcher” and “fortune-teller” (who really wasn’t a fortune-teller, but appeared to be a nun), seemed to be Others who we have not met yet, and who may represent the Others in the real world. Who knows. We’ll see next week…

A puzzle where the pieces are constantly changing. Now I see.

A show with strict rules that don’t apply everyone or everything. Now I see.

Now I see, Now I see, Now I see…………….

I am thoroughly confused. I watched what I thought was the season premiere last night, Jan 21. Now, Phil-you are saying it’s on tonight? What is going on? Is it another episode, rerun or what? The ABC.com website says the next episode is on Saturday, Jan 24. I can’t watch the show if I can’t keep up with when it is on-can someone clear up all of this confusion?

I agree with a previous poster. I hate to sound this way, but I think there’s a correlation between intelligence and enjoyment of Lost.

No, it’s not an “easy” show to watch to understand. But that’s its appeal. The twists and turns, the puzzle pieces, that’s what make it interesting. I don’t want all the answers — yet. That would spoil it. Like it or not, its the most intriguing and innovative shows in the history of TV.

If you don’t like it — don’t watch. It’s that simple. There are plenty of shows that are easy to watch. If all else fails, watch skateboarders fall down on YouTube. Surely you can understand that plot line. Otherwise, let the rest of us “Losties” enjoy this great show.

Does anyone else think this whole TV series is a social experiment … A HOAX AND PRACTICAL JOKE ON THE AMERICAN PUBLIC?

I think the producers and writers are experimenting to see if TV watchers are so brain-dead that they will watch ANYTHING … whether it makes sense or not!

If Mary Ann and Ginger show up, I’m throwing my TVs away forever! .

The nun was the lady from the jewelry store to shared with Desmond that his gift was to know not to change the future. Remember the guy that Desmond kept trying to save that was squished by the piano.

Does anyone remember the butcher. Seemed familiar, but I couldn’t place her.

Love this show! Last night was amazing!

What a great and exciting episode last night was!!! I am so glad they’re finally back. I still don’t understand why Walt isn’t one of the one’s they’re trying to get back. It’s going to be interesting to see how Ben gets Hurley back from the authorities. It will also be interesting to see how he and Sun react to each other when they reunite seeing that last night she said she wanted him dead.

This show is nothing more than a modern day Gilligan’s Island. It was originally suppose to be a 3 day mini-series back in 2005 but the execs liked the concept they offered the producers an extension. The quality of the show in my opinion has dipped significantly and with DVRs becoming more available this show has lost a significant amount of viewership. Someone let me know in 2015 if they ever make it back to Mars where they originally came from anyway :)

Leslie,

You are absolutely correct. I can’t tell what’s up either.

The ajc.com is so bad now I’m about to simply give up on them. This used to be a great website… NOW IT JUST SUCKS !!!!!!!!

The new publisher of the AJC is a moron. All this guy does is fire people and make things suck even more.

We can all forget about local news coverage in our newspaper. We will be lucky to get Associated Press reports. So much for keeping up with issues that actually mean something to local residents.

Gimmie more TI and Britney Spears news…. Yeah…… That’s what matters most…… Tell me more about the obituaries…. Can’t wait to hear who died yesterday….. The blogs…. Who cares if they work?

Apparently the only news in Atlanta is about some Obama party in somewhere or Terence Moore’s blathering about how Pacman Jones should come play for the Falcons……

Lost???? You betcha !!!

Lost isn’t a mess, but you have to be able to do three things:

  1. Watch every episode. This isn’t Law & Order kids, there’s lots and lots of continuity with Lost.

  2. Understand what you’re watching. Lost is sci-fi. If you’d prefer to watching the 37th season of ER, which, I might add, is equally unrealistic in it’s own right, then do that. If you don’t enjoy shows that bend the rules of the world, don’t watch. But Lost doesn’t contradict itself. If you want to see real examples of confusion and contradiction, go watch Heroes.

  3. Be able to remember what you just watched and (hopefully) understood for more than 5 seconds. A lot of people are: “Oh look, a bunny. Wait, what show was I watching?” If this is you, ya probably won’t be able to keep up.

I don’t think getting lost over LOST has anything to do with intelligence. I loved the show. It was the writers strike that threw the nail in the coffin for me. I didn’t want to rent the whole previous season to watch tonight. The show as off for too long. The seasons where too chopped up.

Also, I just don’t trust ABC anymore. The executives will get in a snit and move the shows day and time, keep it off for a few weeks to put on a stupid reality show, or just plain cancel it like Pushing Daisies or Eli Stone.

I guess I reject ABC more than the show. When it comes on DVD (the entire series) then I will watch. Until then, I will wait.

This is all I have to say about LOST-

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip That started from this tropic port, Aboard this tiny Ship. The mate was a mighty sailin’ man, The Skipper brave and sure, Five passengers set sail that day For a three hour tour.

A three hour tour. [ sound of thunder: crack! ]

The weather started getting rough, The tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, The Minnow would be lost.

The Minnow would be lost.

The ship’s aground on the shore of this Uncharted desert isle With Gilligan, the Skipper too, The Millionaire and his wife, A movie star, ( and the rest ) the Professor and Mary Ann, ( All ) Here on Gilligan’s Isle!

So this is the tale of our castways, They’re here for a long, long time They’ll have to make the best of things, It’s an uphill climb.

The first mate and ( his ) the Skipper too, Will do their very best, To make the others comfortable, In their tropic island nest.

No phone(s)! No light(s)! No motor car(s)! Not a single luxury, Like Robinson C-ru-soe, it’s primitive as can be. So join us here each week my freinds, You’re sure to get a smile, From ( For ) seven stranded castways, Here on “Gilligan’s Isle.”
