Do you plan to take the day off to vote Nov. 4?

Thousands of voters continue to line up at polling places around metro Atlanta for early voting.

This begs the question — if the lines look like this now, what might they be like on Election Day? Some election officials are predicting that it could get as bad as a six-hour wait at peak times in some places.

If you’ve decided to wait to vote on Tuesday, do you plan to take the day off from your job to ensure that you’ll have time to brave long lines? Is your place of business allowing you to take off that day?

This is just stupid !

You have no excuse not take advantage of the early voting that has been going on for weeks.

If your too lazy to not take advantage of that then your probably the type of person that stays home form work for anything such as a cold or to go vote.

I already am off from work, but it is part of an annual vacation at this time of year, not specifically for Election Day.

But I’m glad I’ll be off. I plan to be at my regular polling place by 6 a.m. I usually get there at 7, and the line is about 15 people deep. But this is not a typical election.

So will be there earlier with a book and a blanket and if it takes 6 hours, it takes 6 hours.

I’m working on Nov. 4th. I took advantage of Advance Voting this week. There is no excuse for anyone NOT to vote. I will not go as far as referring to people as ‘stupid’ because they chose not to vote early, but I’m happy that I did vote early. Voting is very important and I hope that everyone will exercise their right and duty to vote.

Georgians have had 45 days to vote. When I voted almost 45 days ago, it took 10 minutes. There is absolutely no reason to take off of work…well unless you’re a Democrat, most of you are off of work on a regular basis.

Why is this such a controversy? How is taking Election Day off—to vote—any different than taking Good Friday or New Year’s Eve off? If an employee has a PDO and gets approval to use it, that’s his prerogative.

I am a huge McCain fan but can’t wait to see what happens if Obama Bin Laden wins. We all know how great “black leadership” is. Just look at the great city of Atlanta. Mayor Franklin (Major debt in Atlanta), Mayor Campbell (Jail), Atlanta PD, DeKalb PD, Grady, Clayton County Schools, etc. Obama will be just another thug who will be voted out in four years for sure. All he is doing is lying left and right for the thug vote as well as moron democrats.

Unemployed—I’m sure Obama loves getting endoresments like yours. If you put that much effort in becoming a productive member of society, we would all be much better off. Of course, waiting for the government to hand you everything is the cornerstone of Democratic politics, isn’t it?

Chris,

You are hilarious! We will definitely see what will happen when Obama and Biden clinch this election. I think it’s interesting how you reference some of Atlanta’s mayors and their financial, criminal for others, pitfalls.

Can you tell me why every business/financial entity that George W. Bush has been associated with has been “run into the ground” just like our economy? True, it might have been the Democrats that pushed or encouraged the banks and legislators to assist low-income individuals with purchasing homes, but they (Democrats) sure didn’t create the fancy loans that resulted. Personally speaking, when I purchased my home, the loan officer did try to convince me to purchase “more home” than I could feasibly afford. If I were not educated and understood the negative consequence of financing more than I could afford, I could easily be in the “shoes” of millions of other homeowners facing foreclosure right now. Because the Republicans choose to focus on less regulations, banks and other financial institutions were allowed to take advantage of some less fortunate people. We need programs like ACORN that educate consumers before they actually purchase their homes, so that they don’t make the mistakes that millions have made.

Chris, I agree the comment I made towards KOZ towards the end was thuggish after reading, so I apologize for that.

Chris, I could be your neighbor that you “fake the funk with” everyday!

I look forward to some of your wealth being spread as well—LOL! Chris, when we pay our taxes, isn’t that a form of spreading the wealth? Just a questions don’t get mad and call your “Grand Wizard!—LOL

My favorite part about this blog is how people show their ignorance by posting the same blog 3 and 4 times. There is up to a 5 minute delay! Just because you don’t see it immediately doesn’t mean it didn’t post! If you can’t figure out something as simple as that, how are you qualified to vote? Explains a lot about the comments that come from the multiple-posters.

“I thought their pathetic belief is to let the hard working, educated Republicans work and then just take the money they earn?”

That’s right, all those Ivy League-educated lawyers, bankers, consultants, and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs voting for Obama are just dying to get their hands on Joe the Plumber’s (Where’d he go to school again?) $45K salary.

Hell, that wouldn’t even cover country club initiation fees.

If you ask me—-both choices SUCK. I don’t even think some people should be allowed to vote considering who winded up with the nominations in the primaries, the most extreme of all the candidates. Who is there to represent the normal, hard working, rule abiding person who isn’t an extreme right or left winger…besides people that aren’t on the ballot in GA.

If the lines are too long, well I really don’t care if I vote. I’ve voted many times before when all of you bandwagon people were sitting on your apathetic ass. Now a black guy is running and you first time voters are so enthusiastic because of that alone, very pathetic that race is all you care about. Just wait until you get your jury duty summons from Fulton County. Oh wait, you probably won’t show up like half of the other morons called to jury duty. This country is so f-ed up. It’s no wonder we can’t get anything productive done.

I’ll be at work, just like every day, doing my thankless job and trying to pay my bills and take care of my family while my retirement savings are getting flushed down the toilet. Yeah, let me waste 6 hours standing in a line so I can vote, so the same f-ing morons can get elected along with a president that is the same freakin thing (corporate puppet) even though he might look different.

So all you retirement-age a*******holes that are losing money in your investments can suck it with your sweeping generalizations. I am young enough to wait for my money to bounce back, long after you’re in a retirement home or dead in the ground.

I am a very proud Democrat, that have several Republican friends and family members. However, to see such “people” as Chris and others with the same mentality(if you want to call it that), makes you wonder how “educated” the Republicans really are. Clearly, you are not educated to starting your sentence and supposedly question the way you did.

By Fred

October 29, 2008 2:09 PM | Link to this

Of course I’m working, I’m an assistant poll manager. We have roughly 2200 registered people in our precinct. Last I heard (a week ago) 20% had voted early so that leaves 980. With 12 hours of voting, that means 81 per hour and we have 13 machines. There will be a wait at 7 AM as folks get there early to “beat the rush” when in fact they ARE the rush lol. There will also likely be a “rush” after 5, but I don’t see any 6 hour wait.

The long waits were created by the early voting itself. With just a few polling places to service a full County, lines backed up. At precincts, it should be a breeze. Unless the machines go down……………….

The way you talking I’m shocked you made it through Bush “living hell” 8 years!! NOW THAT IS ONE PERSON THAT SUCKS!!

Now as far as the jury duty comment you made…..I know big money Republicans must laugh at $25 for jury duty over the millions they make. That’s why you are always called MORON!!!

And as far as the black people are voting because Obama is black is the real BS! Hell Jesse Jackson attempted to run years ago and failed. Black folks aren’t dumb although you were probably raised to think that, so I’ll let you pass. We Democrats know that we have an intelligent candidate in Obama.

In all honesty, I am going to be in fervent prayer on the 4th and 5th because the winner of this challenging, sometimes nasty, race will have one of the most difficult tasks ahead. In order to really bring about change, the next President will need 8 years. When you think about it, very little will be accomplished in 4 years time.

Yes, I will take November 4th off, but only because I’ll be working the election Polls. I voted early. There really is no excuse for people not to have voted early if they felt the traditional election day would be a problem.

I will wait in line as long as it takes to vote. I will be more inclined to take off work the day following the election, for fear of my safety. I know, you all can call me racist (as if it matters to me, I asure you…it does not)for thinking in realistic terms but folks, there’s going to be some violence after this election with either outcome. If Obama wins the urban thugs will turn into a mob and use this as an excuse to loot and rob. I saw Katrina, I saw the films of the black studenst stealing in Houston after the evacuation of hurricane Ike. All they need is opportunity and a store front to break the glass out of. If Obama loses, we’re doomed. Do you really think they’ll sit back and take his defeat without taking to the streets and burn down this city. DC, Atlanta, Philly, Detroit and St Louis to name a few will burn. Now, all you white liberals and blacks blast me for being a racist which translates to being a realist in the real world. Will all blacks riot? No, they won’t…of course not. But, will many use this as a reason to get a free tv, you bet you last dollar. Check out the films lately of all the crimes going on in Grant Park and in East Lake of the same urban thugs stealing everything we have worked for in broad daylight, just kicking doors and going in at will. Fatherless, uneducated wayward black males are a danger to my safety, to society and to other blacks. A sad fact, but so true.

I will be taking off the day after, Nov. 5th! I plan on being up all night watching the numbers come in for Obama’s victory. Yes, I’d love to see the sad faces of my Republican co-workers but I’d much rather stay home and celebrate.

Libtards - you only have to click once to post. If these simple directions could be followed, those doing it may be able to actually get a job and not have to rely on the eloquently tailored empty suit as their savior. I work for a living, so I will be voting afterwards.

I plan on taking off on Nov. 5th to celebrate the CHANGE that is coming to our country! By the way, I happily waited in line, in the rain, for almost 3 hours to cast my vote for Barack and Joe on Friday the 24th. God bless America and our new leadership!

A-Men Reality Check! The thugs out there will always take advantage of getting a free TV. I love how they just don’t care and steal from the hard working white man. Why is it that whenever there is a murder, violent crime, or home invasion, 99% of the time they are black? Hmmm.

Koz. My employer encourages its employees to take the time they need to perform their civic duties, whether Democrat, Republican, or other. Therefore I will go to work on Tuesday after I’m done voting.

Get off your high horse.

m - may you be so fortunate as not to have to live through many economic ups and downs during your lifetime and watch your hard earned savings dwindle…but if I were you I would not count.

Nasty attitudes and negative generalizations about those who don’t share your opinion does not impress anyone. Too many people posting on these blogs are so full of themselves and their on position or opinion that they resort to name calling and ugly and sometimes downright obscene comments.

If anyone wants to know what’s wrong with this country, read these blogs and witness “so called” adults acting like fools.

Is it so hard to recognize how easy it is to manipulate public opinion and race bait? The media outlets do it all the time. Look no further than your favorite station or newspaper to see that what you are getting is the “opinion” of that media outlet. Conservative or liberal, you get the spin and the bait.

I have voted Democrat as often as I have voted Republican. I vote for the candidate I believe will do the best job for the country. Always have. I’m not a Dem or a Repub…I’m an American.

I have to say in this race, it was once again about chosing between the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately that has been the case with the last several elections. Neither party has provided us with much to be excited about for years. Government is out of control and has spent us into near bankruptcy.

Our government (both parties) have printed more money when they need it, borrowed more than they had coming in and lived the high life at our expense. Do you wonder why so many in this country have no clue about debt to income ratio, look at our government’s spend, spend, spend example.

The Republicans have let us down. The Democrats have let us down. Both parties have pandered to special interests, tried to buy commitment to UN sanctions and there’s more than enough corruption on both sides of the aisle to sicken us all. We are all paying the price and will continue to pay the price for years to come.

Hope is not a strategy and change is the only thing we’ll have left in our pockets when the government gets through with us. It doesn’t matter which party you support, the fact is that someone has to pay for all of these bail outs and social programs and it’s us, the working people.

There is no way our government can support all these so-called tax cuts, healthcare programs, government programs, etc., without raising taxes unless we actually reduce the size of the government and the unnecessary government programs. Will that happen with this new administration, doubtful…

The money to support all of these programs and agencies has to come from somewhere. The very wealthy (including Hollywood’s wealthy elite, the corporate executives or the wall street banker) have their money protected in foundations, other countries, etc. certainly not within reach of the government. How else is it that California can be holding their hand out for government assistance when they’re home to some of America’s wealthiest people?

It’s you and I the working class, middle class that will continue to foot the bills. Wake up to reality people!

One thing is certain: If you continue to do what you’ve always done, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. It’s past time for a change. Even if you don’t agree, our political, religious, social, economic and cultural differences do not justify name calling. We are human beings and we ALL bleed the same color blood. Let’s learn to get along, embrace change and be optimistic about a brighter future. I voted and I believe change is right around the corner.

Democratic policy on voting: Vote early and vote often. Bring your bus and lure out with a doughnut or a cigarrete, the minorities, the poor, dumb, homeless, indigent, migrants, dead, fictional, clueless, mindless folks who think CHANGE from Obama is going to be a good thing.

I voted early today and although I had to wait for 2 hours, the time went fast. My fellow voters had a great, positive energy, we were all laughing, sharing stories.

There maybe some backwards racists here in Georgia, but we should not hate them, we should feel sorry for them. Their world is about to be rocked by an Obama win.

Gwenola and Sarah you two should hang together. SS by the way was funded by taxes, only those who are drawing SS that never really worked a day in their lives are the ones on the hand out program…

Being able to get on the handout program without ever contributing to its funding is part of the problem with a socialist agenda.

WHOA, Russ. Too lazy or stupid? Sheesh. Some of us cannot move around our work schedule as easily or find childcare easily. Whereas on Tuesday, many employers are much more flexible about voting. I tried to vote today but I could not hack the 3-hour+ line as I have a disability and cannot stand for that long. I know Tuesday will be bad, too, but I will come prepared with a folding chair.
