Did gas crisis affect your church this weekend?

The hunt for gasoline had many Georgians staying home. Have you noticed any affect on worship activities or attendance? Were there some church trips postponed? Are any special prayers being lifted up?

I coordinate Sunday School at our church and I have had teachers cancel on me today saying they didn’t want to use gas to come.

My church is 34 miles away, round-trip. Long before this crisis, I would not attend church if I had less than half a tank. I did not attend today, and unfortunately will end up having to find one closer to home. I will also hang around my kid’s school for 6 hours rather than drop him off and come back home. Sad.

Skipped it for that exact reason! I ended up walking to Target to get somethings and realized it was a nice walk…one that I will do more often from now on regardless of gas or no gas. Wish I could have walked to church!

I did not attend church today as my husband teaches at the 9:00 AM service and then I drive separately and attend the 11:00 AM service with him. However, immediately following the 11:00 AM, he is driving to Duluth to volunteer for the Kiawanis Club fall festival. I felt it was unnecessary to waste the additional gas. Fortunately, I will watch the service “on line” since I attend BBCC in Cumming.

We didn’t go to church today either to save gas. We will have devotions at home as a family. The church we attend is 25 minutes away.

Maybe this is God’s way of getting people to read the word of God for themselves, not relying on a pastor to teaching, and confirming a closer relationship with Him.

Wouldn’t surprise me one little bit!

No, didn’t affect my family church today in Dallas, GA. However, we had church in the DARK. Somewhere in Dallas, GA, someone tripped a breaker that affected homes, businesses and churches along Hwy 61 and Hwy 278. For Oasis Family Life Church, it was business as usual even in the dark. GOD works in mysterious ways to impact people.

We had to miss church as well. Our church is 45 min. What a stressful time this is but because of my faith, I know God is in control. Prayerfully, this will be all over soon.

We didn’t go to church today because of the gas situation. Our regular church is about 50 miles away. Two weeks ago we decided to try out a local church (at least 11 miles from home) because of the gas prices - nearest church is 3 miles away.

Today we read our Bibles and prayed, and I’m sure the good Lord understands the situation. Hopefully the gas crisis will ease by next Sunday so we can go to church again.

Usually attend church about 4 miles away. Having 1/2 a tank of gas, and trying to avoid gas lines, today I decided to walk to the church 1/2 mile from my home. I made my last tank of gas last 2 weeks, I hope to make this tank last at least a week more. I will bike to work tomorrow.

Well…..I’m Roman Catholic. Unless I’m sick or experiencing an emergency that keeps me away from the Church, I attend Mass. God will provide, He always has. I went to Mass. I taught a Catechism Class of Teens prior to Mass and the Church was filled to capacity in Duluth. And yes, in The Priest’s Homily, he mentioned the difficult week we all have struggled with. What with the economy and the gas lines. He suggested, while in the lines, bring your Rosary out of your pocket and spend some time in Prayer. Good advice. I saw and heard some in the lines this week that could have used some calming prayer and communion with their Maker. - Peace Be With You & God Bless. This too shall pass….

I attended my church ,Cheatham hil babtist this morning and did not see any lack of attendance. Our music minister hit the nail on the head “We are all waiting on a delivery of gas at gas stations, But so many are waiting to be delivered from sin and accept Jesus into there lives” I for one am not worried about the gas or the lack there of. My life resolves around God first otheres second then myself. In the world we are living in today ,the last thing we should be worrying about is the gas shortage. I pray that you all have a bleesed day and week, God bless. Mike J

Oh, you poor fair weather Christians…gas prices get high and supplies short and you can’t sacrifice a little to get to Church…sounds like many of your beliefs from the Bible—you will pick and choose what to believe and you will pick and choose when to worship…as for me, if I wanted to believe a bunch of fairy tales like people living in a whale or all animal species on a boat, I would just listen to McCain/Palin…

Union City vs. Stockbridge. My church is in Stockbridge, however I attended church in Fayette County over the Fulton County line. Even on Wednesdays for Bible Study I visit a church close to home. There is no gas in South Fulton so I stayed closs to home. Thank God, I work less than 10 miles from my home. My heart really goes out to those who have to commute more than 20 miles each way from home.

What a bunch of idiots. The reason there is no gas is because all of you morons are freaking out at the “my tank is half full” scenario. Give up church but wont give up football, that trip to Walmart or any other places. There is plenty of gas, you fools just freak ou tand rush to the station when you less than full. Its life as usual.

Prayin’ for Shawn G….It did seem that my church in the mountains had fewer there at 11:00, but we also have an 8AM service, so who knows - maybe it had more. I do know there is zero gas to pump in my hometown…I saw a lot more walkers around town than usual. Nice to live in a place where it is possible to get where you need to go on foot if need be. This is not going to get better anytime soon - thank goodness God is in control. None of the messes out there really matter - the one thing that does matter is where I’m headed when I take my last breath - the rest is just what I have to muddle thru until then. Again, prayin’ for Shawn G…

We also walked to church today (Trinity Vineyard), about a 30 minute walk. It was great! I’m thankful to go to a church in the city that we’re close to. It helps make community a reality for us. But even if you couldn’t go, how great is it that the LORD meets us where we’re at! We can pray and read the Bible no matter where we are, and that can’t be taken away. God bless you all.

Didn’t attend church this morning, but will be there on Wednesday night. There was absolutely NO GAS at either of the several closests stations to my home (near S. Cobb HS), and I am not about to drive around hunting any down. Fortunately, God provided - and I was able to fill up on Thursday. Now, I have to be prudent to make it into work on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as to church Wed. evening. There will be NO UNNECESSARY TRIPS this week. And I will combine my trip to the grocery on my way home from work on Wednesday. I will have to cancel my hair appt. and my Son will not attend Scouts on Monday evening.

Though I trust God to provide (as He sure did for me this week!) He does give us wisdom to discern and to use our brains to make good choices. God I am sure does understand, and I am praying along with most others that the situation will resolve itself here very soon!

Yes, we attended church today and wouldn’t dare miss a beat because of gas. I chose not to let the panic dictate our comings and goings especially when it comes to my family’s faith. We may have to venture out a little further to find some gas, but we will find it because we walk by faith and not by sight!

I attended church today, but I did notice a decline in attendance. The QT by my home was out of gasoline for the entire week. I drive home today and there was a small line in which the fill-up and exit strategy was well organized. When will the gas begin flowing again?

God does not provide the gas, idiots. The men/women who drive the trucks, set up the lines and work at the refineries are the ones who provide the gas. If you found gas, it’s because people brought it to the station. It’s not God.

Attendance was a bit light this morning but I think it was because many people got home very late from the Bama-UGA game. However the folks I talked to who had attended the game said they had no trouble finding gas on the way to or back from Athens.

I filled up with gas yesterday, parked my car and have driven a total of perhaps 5-10 miles since, so I have a full tank going into the work week. I plan to drive only as necessary, carpooling as often as possible.

Went to church twice today! Didn’t see any decline in attendance. There were over 600 in the morning service and over 400 in the evening. God moved in a might way. I figure if I can run all day Saturday taking care of business, I sure can use my gas to give God the Glory and Praise He more than deserves. He will supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory.

You didn’t miss anything. Your religion is a fairy tale. Note how it is the simple-minded who “believe” this crap. Anyone with a shred of intellect knows how silly and barbaric religion is. Why don’t you pray for godamighty to fill your tanks with juice? And, BTW, you fools who keep ‘topping off’ are the cause of this ‘shortage’. Just continue to assuage your bitterness with religion & guns.

Read this, local retards: A hurricane-related disruption in gasoline supplies prompted jittery drivers from Atlanta to Nashville to top off their fuel tanks more than usual, causing sporadic shortages and temporary shutdowns of stations. These closures only magnified the problem, of course, leading to more shortages, which sent local prices skyrocketing.

Our church is located in Lithonia and we live in Lawrenceville,ga. We used a powerful word today called “wisdom” and attended our old church; which is closer and we still received a powerfuly word! It is not a sin to use wisdom, that is not a lack of faith. God has our back Saints in all of this! This too shall pass alot sooner than most realize. Just use wisdom with your gas! Also, don’t use the gas issue as an excuse not to go to church if you can help it, atleast attempt to attend a service closer to you. And if you are not able, just keep praying! God Bless!
