Where’s Atlanta’s greatest gelato?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Now that you’ve read our In the Mood feature on primo sources for creamy gelato, it’s time to get your own proverbial “licks” in.
Besides the spots mentioned in Virginia-Highland, Marietta and Ponce-Midtown, where else can gelato-lovers go for an interesting or irresistible spoonful?
What makes the gelato store you like best unique? And if there was one suggestion you might make to improve the place, what would it be?
Sound off here…

I don’t know where the “best” gelato can be found in Atlanta, but if you haven’t had REAL gelato in Italy I believe it’s going to be hard to provide an honest assessment. Personally, I’ve never had anything that compares with the real deal.

It’s true, like David said, there is no comparison to the real gelato of Italy. I won’t even eat the ones found here, it is too disappointing trying to duplicate the experience so I don’t even try.
But for those who want to eat Atlantan gelato the ones already mentioned will do.

Alon’s at Park Place across from Perimeter Mall has the best gelato I’ve had in ATL. However nothing compares to the real thing and cannot be duplicated here in the States - that’s why there are very few gelato places here.

OK.. ok.. we get it. No gelato in Atlanta will ever compare to true Italian gelato. If that’s the case, why eat anything that doesn’t come from the place it originated? I am not in Italy, so I can’t find good pizza. Not in Mexico- can’t find good burritos. Not in Japan- can’t find good sushi…… and the list goes on…….
It’s not that serious….. just answer the question about gelato in ATLANTA and keep it moving. Sheesh.

My son-in-law is Italian and such a critic of gelato he’s tried in the US. :) In a number of trips to Italy to visit his side of the family, my daughter says that the gelato she’s had in the US is different than the gelato she’s had, numerous times, in Italy. Not bad different, but different.

Sogno Gelato, North of Atlanta, www.sognogelato.com is the best. The place is very unique and different, them music is authentic Italian music. Service is great, atmosphere nice and clean and gelato is wonderful.
