It’s tax D-Day

It’s tax D-Day. Have you filed your return yet?

Are you one of the many U.S. taxpayers who wait until the last minute to file? Or, do you plan to file an extension? Do you plan to leave work early to work on your returns? Still looking for paperwork?

If you’re getting a refund, how do you plan to spend the money? Will you owe?

File, and awaiting my refund, which goes directly on my debt snowball.

Filed electronically 2 months ago, got refunds in two weeks via electronic deposit.

Personal taxes should be collected by businesses as a part of spending and it should be anonymous. The system we have now is SO EXPENSIVE, CONFUSING, and TIME CONSUMING.

The system to collect taxes costs BILLIONS! RIDICULOUS!

I filed mine electronically (Turbo Tax on-line) in mid-February. Got the money back from both State & Fed in less than one week. Money went directly into my savings account, and is still sitting there!!!

I usually say screw it. I almost always file an extension. We get a refund but it’s so small I hate to even bother with it. I finally finish it up around October 15th. This year, I think I’ll do it a little earlier - maybe the end of July - just in time for school shopping. Yay.

No have not filed yet. Did send in an extension though. We usually get around to filing by late May or early June. Can’t see the point in rushing; our CPA’s office is a madhouse and all her preparer’s are running flat out during tax season. We do it after the rush, when we get more personalized service and the CPA can take more time to do ours.

As usual, we filed sometime in February to avoid the mad April 15 rush.

So today is literally just another Tuesday. I actually forgot it was even tax day.

Got our refund back in less than a week. Now we’re looking forward to the extra refund Bush decided to throw our way this year.

Unfortunately the February refund went to debt as will some of the next refund Bush gives out. But thanking God we at least don’t owe the government or state, that’s the worst.

Filed in early March using TurboTax. Except for some slight aggravations with changes they made to the software, it was easy. I couldn’t take the stress of waiting until the last minute.

Mailed it last Monday. Getting almost $8K back. We don’t really like getting a refund back OR paying a return. We prefer to break even. But this year we bought investment property and since (1) we charge in rent just what we owe one it, and (2) we have done some major improvements on the property - we ended up taking a loss.

Next year should be different.

I was planning to file today and pay a big chunk, then found out that because of the tornados in March, Fulton and DeKalb (along with several other affected counties) have until May 19th to file. Yay! I needed this extra time because I can’t come up with the money right now. I don’t know how I missed this news earlier.

Taxes prepared, picked up previously and mailed early this morning - yes, we owed this year. But hoping that the rebate promised will 10 get here soon and 2)help once we get it.

Filed in February with direct deposit. Refunds came in 2 weeks. Bills were paid with it as well as a few home expenses.

File fed in February got refund in a week. Owe the idiot state $1. Costs more to process the stupid thing. What a waste of my time and theirs. That $1 check goes in the mail today.

How ridiculous.
