Microsoft Vista arrives
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Microsoft’s new version of its Windows operating system, called Vista, hit stores shelves at midnight. Does it bring a “Wow” to your heart, as Microsoft honcho Bill Gates says? Were you among the crowds lining up at the witching hour to be among the first to get a copy? Is it going to change your life — or your computer’s life? Let us know what you think.

I am going to sit back and watch the performance of “Vista” for awhile. If it is like most new items brought into cyberland, it will be full of unforseen problems for a year or so.
To make my point: look at the number of upgrades that has beset XP!
Also, I am finally happy with XP. Why change? The scuttlebutt is that Vista is just a remake of XP anyway. You have 90% of Vista already.
Hey! Vista ain’t cheap either!

One of the major selling points of Vista is the new, prettier user interface. Considering that I always use the Classic, Win95-like interface in Windows XP, I see absolutely no reason to upgrade to Vista anytime soon.

Microsoft Vista has finally caught up to where Mac OS X was two years ago. Mac OS X will release it’s 5th major revision in the past 5 years in a few months. You can even run Windows if you really want to now. Another reason to switch to Mac.

As a software tester, I spend all day weeding through inexcusable problems caused by problems with Microsoft products.
After a hard day of nothing but problems, do you think I want to go through the same nonsense at home? Heck, no!
I use a Mac at home, because it simply WORKS without crashing. I don’t need any time-wasting “surprises” caused by Microsoft when I am on my personal time.
As Apple rationalizes on its web site: “Your refrigerator and your toaster don’t crash. Why should your computer?
Buy a Mac.”

After years of endless headaches and disasters with Windows I am seriously comptemplating a second mortage so I can buy a Mac and be MS free forever. Bill Gates has a special place in Hell reserved for him.

I have Beta tested Vista and as a member of Microsoft Technet, I have had the full final version installed for a few weeks on test bed computers.
So far, I like what I see. Was the easiest Windows install and/or upgrade I’ve ever experienced. Been working Windows since 1985, so I’ve seen them all.
A must have, no. But it a very Nice to have.

I, like Windows Warrior, must work with Microsoft’s software at work, but at home I use a Mac. I have seen a couple of Vista betas and it really looks like Mac OS X did two years ago. We are not going to Vista here at work for at least a year. Microsoft has never released a finished product before, and we don’t expect it to happen this time either. Apple’s Macs are the only computers to b uy if you want performance, stability and style. Macs Rule!
