‘Big & Tall’ men’s shops
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A large-man clothing chain, Casual Male Big & Tall, is changing its name to Casual Male XL, which has “a much more athletic association.”
Hey, all you large guys out there (or you folks who buy for large guys), does “XL” sound a lot better to you than “Big & Tall?”
Are you more inclined to shop at a store that uses such a softer term to describe your size, or does it not make a hill of beans difference to you?

I don’t really care, however, what most department stores refer to as “Big and Tall” are really “Big OR Tall”. I am 6’4”/250 and yes, I’m too big around the middle, currently wearing 40/34 slacks. I can go into almost any so-called “Big and Tall” department and find pants in 28/36 or 46/28, but can I find a single parir of 40/34 - Not in a million years. I guess you can be “tall and skinny” or “fat and short”, but “Big and Tall”, forget about it… And that retail department stores (are you listening) is why I tend to do all my shopping these days online.

Who cares what they call the store, as long as they have what I want. At 6’6” and 250 pounds I need pants, shoes, shirts and everything else that the regular retail stores simply don’t care to stock. As mb sates above, it is easier to shop online than in the stores based on the fact that the Big & Tall/XL stores don’t really have an extensive inventory.

I too am a “Big And Tall” and I rarely purchase clothing locally. It is so much easier to just go online to Kingsizedirect.com and get what I need. The prices and selection are much better than what is available locally. I still shop Casual Male but only for las minute stuff.

WHO CARES? For crying out loud; this is just another example of the Atlanta Jumbled and Construed trying to start a fight between folks who otherwise just want to be left alone. With all of the really important stuff going on in Atlanta (like a ten game losing streak, slum rats defaulting, at an alarming rate, on home loans they should have never been granted in the first place, youth on youth crime, sexual predators prowlling for our children, and rampant hate mongering by the liberal elitist, and their minions, I really do not care! “A rose by any other name, is still a rose”.
What concerns me more are those pink tu-tu wearing, middle of the road, “girlie” men, who are taking over the world and are afraid of hurting someone’s feelings by telling the truth about something…ANYTHING.
The store sells clothing for “Big & Tall” “Casual Males”…What part of that hurts your feelings? The previous name was clear and concise; I dare say it did not run the risk of hurting the feelings of anyone, but pink tu-tu wearing “girlie men”…and to them I say, Get over it, or learn to shop at Lane Bryant.
If your hyper sensitive feelings are hurt because the store advertises that it sells to “Big” males, put your big, gender neutral, “rear” on a diet and become “Small & Tall”…Otherwise, shut your pie hole!

Tall but not Big: Lighten up man. With all the trouble in the world you are talking about, the biggest danger is your pending stroke. This is a casual blog, not the end of the world!

Who cares?? At 6’8” and 330lbs it is tough to find clothes….in general, if retailers like Casual Male would carry more stylish clothes that fit, they can call me ehatever they want. The only retailer that truly caters to my needs is Rochester Big and Tall.

I’m a 6’5”/285 guy, and I don’t care if you call me big & tall, since I am both. I agree with the others. Just have my size, and I’ll be happy. One problem I have, and I know it is not the stores fault, is I like to have some name brand stuff every now and then. Why can’t Polo, Nautica, Hilfiger etc. make some of thier fashions for me? In high school, I liked A&F, but needless to say, I look like I’m wearing spandex in those brands. Just make fashionable clothes available that fit me correctly, call it whatever you want. That’s my rant. Don’t even get me started on shoes, that’s a whole other blog I could fill up.
