While both men certainly deserve to be sentenced to jail, their serving jail time will do nothing to bring back the millions of dollars that people lost as the result of their illegal conduct—which is the worst part of their crime.

I believe that both of these men are guilty. However, I don’t think they will serve anytime, I do think that Bush will let them off the hook.

Put them in a “real” prison. These men attempted to steal 10’s if not 100’s of millions of dollars. Strengthen all of our laws to track down these corporate criminals and and expose them for the frauds that they truly are.

Here we go with the liberal media distracting us from the real issues again. Can you believe the attention this Kenny Boy is getting? Just because yet another from the family values party goes down the liberal media hits a frenzy. Same thing happened with Schrenko, Reed, Robertson, Delay and Cunningham and others.
Hey Liberal media, wake up! Don’t you realize there is a real family values crisis? Forget about the old ladies and pensions. The face lifts and gambling money, and The war too. ITS ABOUT GAY MARRIAGE STUPID. You know, family values.

I’m a glad that our justice system is taking a stand on insider trading, and conspiracy to commit security and wire fraud. However, it doesn’t amount to the MILLIONS of money lost from hard working, honest people.

These guys will get what’s coming to them, serious jail time. I don’t understand why anyone thinks Pres. Bush has any sympathy for these crooks and is going to pardon them. It is his justice department that got the convictions. The people these guys ripped off are hard working investors in our economy (Republicans) not the sponges of our government handouts (Democrats). No way does this President let these guys off the hook like Clinton did when he left office.

When are they going to go after the others, such as Delta’s former CEo Leo Mullins and his cohort in crime, M Michelle Burns?

Also how about a few more members of the US Congress? I want to see mroe of the lobbyists and their congressmen share some time in a real prison. It would make many of the others think twice about doing the wrong thing.

Interesting to hear Mr.Lay’s comment afterwards, “God has a Plan”…if that is how he rationalizes being no more than a convicted thief, he need to know his ‘plan’ has only begun…Heaven help these two !

What about a few of our county commissioners and city councilpersons with their influence being bought with bribes (Bill Campbell and his cronies) or with just a lunch or dinner (Atlanta City Council).
I think it has nothing to do with either republican or democrat, the criminals exist on both sides of the aisle.
I tired of watching them steal from us and sell their influence and out our interests for the mighty dollar and for a vote to be re-elected.
Where is Mr. Smith when you need him ( from the movie “Mr Smith goes to Washington” staring Jimmy Stewart).

I wonder if Bush is going to call “Kenny Boy” and offer his whole hearted support. Oh, I forgot that Bush stated that he only knew of “Kenny Boy” as a campaign contributor to Ann Richards. My Bad.

Bush, like all Republicans are completely out of touch with America. Democrats will return to power soon and make things better. Bush is the WORST president in the history of this country so far. Yeah, you cons will say “Clinton lied”. Every president has lied, the job is to stressful and demanding not to. however, Bush lied about WMD and Iraq, and 2400 plus soldiers have died. I think the only president who probably did not lie was Carter. His downfall was that he was too decent of a man to handle the presidency. You almost have to be bit dishonest to run such a screwed up country and be the most powerful leader on the planet. Bush is dishonest in everything he does. CLinton lied about getting some. I’d lie about that too

It’s amazing to see all the politically motivated jackasses here try to tie Lay with President Bush. Newsflash losers, 99.9% of Enron’s misdeeds occurred on Clinton’s watch, while the perpetrators were nabbed and convicted by the Bush Administration, but I know you liberals will not let the truth get in the way of a good smear (just ask ABC and Speaker Hastert). The great thing is that this is why you have been losing power left and right, and will continue to do so. The American people are not the dupes that you think they are, and thanks to the Internet, the left-wing, drive-by media (like the AJC) can no longer lie unchecked to the American people.
BTW, Schrenko and Cunningham were also nabbed and convicted by Republican administrations, so keep your smears coming, and we’ll keep kicking your butts at the ballot box.

If someone out there does not see the connection between Bush and Lay, then find out who the largest contributor was for the 2000 election…….as well, when Skilling resigned in 2001 everyone at enron knew someone was resigning, but they thought it was Lay to become president bush’s secretary of energy!!!! NO JOKE!!!!!! But I am sure they were just mild aquantances…..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…….

Hey eroc (more like “a rock”) check this out:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A58225-2002Jan16¬Found=true
It seems that Enron contributed to a lot of money to people from both parties. Are they all crooks, or just the ones you don’t like? Also, a fair-minded person would ask “what did Lay’s contributions buy him?” It would seem that the answer to that question is a jail cell. Again, Clinton allowed it and Bush put him in jail for it. I know you democrats are pretty stupid (which is why you’re democrats), but this is so easy that even you guys should be able to grasp it.

Well Jim (more like slim jim) How do you know I am a democrat? LOL…..anyway, your point is a good one, BUT…….they were still bushies biggest contributors, and gee, could gore say that? What about Kenny boy? Ever heard of bush calling him that? All I am saying is that they were aquantances, and if bush was the one who put him in jail, then it is the only thing he has done sucessfuly!! Are you at all aware of thier relationship? Well, just in case your not, this took me one minute to find…… read at your own risk, might make you think…… http://archives.cnn.com/2001/ALLPOLITICS/12/12/column.billpress/index.html

Now that the Feds have put away Ebbers, Lay and Skilling, they need to go after former Delta CEO Leo Mullin for setting up a bankruptcy-proof pension plan for himself and his cronies when knowing that the company was going under.

Hey Jim, The true morons are the one’s who think that lying or manipulating intelligence, resulting in war, to carry out predetermined and flawed policies are patriot acts. Remember 170 metric tons of WMD’s and then not even one barrel. As far as Enron is concerned, they got there big payback when the fleeced the Californian, Oregon and Washington electrical energy markets while the BUSH administration sat back and did nothing. I imagine this was a last ditch effort to save the criminal organization.

Gee Jim, it appears Enron was lying to all and eventually went down……it wasn’t after they went belly up, that all this took place…..it wasn’t a matter of who was the president…….but these were the same guys Cheney meet in “Private” to create the energy policy for the United States…….so I would say the Bush camp was much more “IN BED” with these crooks than the Clinton administration……perhaps these are the same guys who suggested the “made UP WAR”…… they I would have known oil prices would become “UNSTABLE”, and all of us would get the screws put to us, by the oil and energy industry…….Gee by the way just what business is the Bush family in?
GO BUSH, he screwed us every which way from Sunday and made millions and more for his family, by the way Jim…..has your accountant showed you how to save big on your taxes since Bush came along?

The fact that executives such as Lay and Skilling do activities like this should be no surprise. I’m sure if you dig deep enough into any corporation and you’ll find various assorted slight of hand. Putting them in prison will do nothing to the people who lost their jobs and life savings. Unlike the bible thumping jury in the Scrushy trial this one actually looked at the evidence.
