Maybe you’ve seen the signs at church, your office or Decatur coffee shop.
Are you keeping an eye out for Gismo?
Maybe you’ve offered one of your birds as a loner?

See Gismo’s information and post your lost or found pet at www.oh-Gismo.com. The kind, understanding, and mature are welcome.

I have two cockatiels and one escaped through an open door as well. She was gone for 10 days and as luck would have it, found by a VET! She was starving and was eating at a bird feeder on the doctor’s back porch. He threw a sheet over her and started checking around, knowing that cockatiels are NOT native to Georgia except in a cage. My only advice is to possibly find other tiels and sit with them (while in cages ofcourse!) outside and see if their sounds and calls will bring Gismo around. My tiels will respond to recorded sounds but not nearly as readily as the real thing.

With everything going on in this world, I can’t believe this is headline news. What a sad, sorry state of affairs we are in. AJC, you should be so ashamed!

what, you people want more news about murders, car accidents, terrorist bombings, etc? it’s called human interest, people, and it’s a story that interests this human. this family has lost its friend. i hope gizmo is found alive and well and i will be keeping an eye out for him. i think some of you could stand to figure out something called compassion.

Writing from down in St Pete, FL: An escaped cockatiel came to our bird feeder because it has black oil sunflower seeds in it. And if there is a monk parakeet population around, the cockatiel may be in the same area with the monks. That’s what happened down here. Good luck!

When our cat was lost, I found a website that offered good advice that worked for us: leave out food, spread the word within a five-mile radius of home, alert area vets, and don’t give up! I know how much it hurts to lose a pet. Our story had a happy ending — our pet came home on her own — and I hope you have a happy ending, too!

I really do hope you find your pet. I know what it’s like lose something close to you like this.
For those of you who have made such idiodic remarks, you only prove just how crass and anal you really are. Just keep on living. When it does come to your house, it will hit you hard due to the fact that people like you guys have no sense of compassion other than for yourselves.
John, I hope you and your fiance find your friend and put your worries to rest so you can move on with your plans to get married.
God Bless and keep you - and Gismo too!

I have owned birds for many years and all of my birds have their wings clipped. This is the first thing I do when I get one. It is not healthy for them to fly around in the house, much less the thought of them escaping through an open door. If Gismo returns, please clip his wings.

Ignore the negative remarks from the unsympathetic morons (all guys I must point out). I’ve been seeing your signs for over a week now and have been amazed at how many there are and how wide an area you’ve covered. I even told a few people that I work with about it so I’m not surprised to see it in the newspaper.
I truly hope you’re story has a happy ending and that I read about it in the newspaper.

I really hope all you jerks who made insensitive and nasty remarks lose something very close to you. That is if you actually have the capacity to care about anyone or anything.
The bond with an animal can be as strong as that with a child. I don’t care what anyone else’s opinion is on the matter. I hope these two find their bird. They need him and he needs them.

Don’t listen to the heartless idiots. I had a bird when I was a teenager…he decided to “vacation” for over a week, but one day he waddled up to my Mother while she was getting the mail. Don’t give up! Hope is something we all could use a bit more of these days.

In their search for Gismo, Hilarye and Jonn have found two other missing cockatiels. They are calling the foster birds, “our guest birds,” to avoid getting too attached. So if your cockatiel flew the coop, you may want to check out their web site (www.oh-gismo.com) for more information.
Jonn and Hilarye continue to follow up leads.

The AJC didn’t make the headlines big enough. People from other cities are laughing at us. Maybe there will be a town fire that can make the headlines tomorrow.

After prayer, my advice to you is to post fliers at the schools local to you. It’s a kid that is most likely to have found your bird. Last but not least, please check your newspaper for lost and found “pets”. May God bless you with the return of Gismo

I think it is SO awesome that the AJC ran this as a headline instead of the gruesome as usual. We read/hear/witness so much negative that we tend to be overly cynical. I can’t wait for the good news that Gismo was found.
I taught high school and a cockatiel landed on one of my students shoulder’s while he was outside taping for our class. Keep that in mind and I will be praying for you. My Dominic and Dexter love to fly…I found out that PetSmart sells little tethers so they can go outside and flap around. I can’t wait to get them out there. They are staying with their grandma for a few weeks…she has 4 cockatiels.
PRAY and Pray for the idiots that just don’t know what it feels like to care about anything. I hope they will soon grow compassionate hearts

Well I too lost my bird a few years ago but he came back after the third day. To be honest you chances are slim due to the sensitivity of exotic birds aswell as the the cold weather, predetors and lack of food source (due to not being able to fend for itself). My advice to you is to purchase another bird and name it gizmo in its honor. Eventhough its not gizmo but it can help deal with the lost. Also they aren’t that expensive so you probably won’t feel it in the pocket book.

I can offer no tips that you have not either heard nor tried by now, just a good luck that you and your dear pet are reunited. To those brainless morons posting isults and immature remarks, grow up and stop search blogs just so you can display your idiotic mentality and do something good for America, move to another country.

Try sitting outside with other tiels in a cage near you. Maybe if he is still around he will see the others with you and come to investigate as birds are inquisitive animals. Good luck with this. The loss of a pet hurts as bad as losing a loved one. Ignore the morons with the nasty comments.

Hang in there, don’t give up hope. My son let his hamster play in the yard once and it ran off, almost two weeks later we drove up to our house one day and saw this little furry thing scurry across our driveway. It was a scared and thin hamster who was soooo glad to get back in her cage and in her excercise wheel. Keep the faith!

The lost bird may come back to the owners, the brain that some of these men lost will not return to the empty heads they vacated. What a lack of pride, class and self-esteem you all must suffer from. Seek help.

Poor Gismo (and poor owners)! I hope he is found, and soon. My mom once found an umbrella cockatoo in the front yard and no one claimed it. Hopefully someone will find your little guy!

Get a life. You are irresponsible pet owners for not having this birds wings clipped in the first place and you deserve to loose it if you can’t be more mature than to do that simple little thing! I shudder to think what will become of any future children you may have if you don’t wake up and think about what needs to be done before it’s too late
