A new home for the book blog
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Loyal readers: Starting Monday March 3, The Book Page is moving. It’s now going to be a part of our Atlanta Arts blog.
Here is the link. And here is it typed out: http://www.accessatlanta.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/accessatlanta/atlarts/.
Once I get set up there, I will establish a place on the left hand rail where you can click and just get the book news. You can bookmark that new location, and we should be able to continue as before.
The reason is simple. Not enough traffic. Books are a pretty niche interest, not to the wonderful people who come here regularly, but in the really big scheme of things. The number-crunchers looked at what we were pulling and decided we weren’t getting enough traffic to be a stand-alone blog, but we were getting enough for me to continue our conversations.
I look forward to continuing to bring you as much news as possible about books, especially about metro Atlanta authors and appearances.
So follow me over to ATL Arts. I’ll have milk and cookies for the first 1,000 who show up!

This is another revolting development in the AJC’s relationship with books. It costs nothing, or pretty close to nothing to have you here as a stand alone blog, why do they feel the need to roll you up into another blog? Be sure to tell the number crunchers that I am annoyed.

Ditto. The thing is..if I check the ATL Arts blog a couple times and there is nothing about books, I will end up not looking it up anymore.
On the other hand, I can imagine that it would get tough to write about a new topic every day so I hope this gives you a bit of a break.

Hi Everyone: At least there was victory for the Buckhead library this week. Also, if this blog is part of the Arts Blog, maybe some of the people who Blog on the Arts one will stop on over to this one. Hope there is a smooth transition. :)

The transition will be smooth for me, I promise. I just hope everyone follows me over. The content itself wont change much, if at all.
Also, if youve signed up for an RSS feed for this blog, you will need to do that again for the new location. If you dont do RSS feeds, never mind.

I too am disappointed; I do not comment often, but I am a loyal reader. It is pity that a newspaper pays lip service to the reading of print sources. I will follow, but I want to register my annoyance.

Phil, I am very disappointed with the change. The Book Page was the saving grace for losing the AJC Book Editor. Once again, AJC pulls the rug from under the readers.
I read the Book Page blog everyday, even if I don’t comment. Also, there was so much that could have been done to expand the discussion and interest, which wasn’t.
Likewise, Wendell deserves a Theatre blog as I am sure the others tossed in this arts bowl deserve their own venue.
Shame on AJC…once again. This is as bad as changing the Coke recipe.

I am also disappointed…as usual, any kind of “ARTS” will be the first cut. I stop by the book section every day, but seldom comment…Perhaps we should all start commenting so we can get our stand along blog back!!! Thanks Phil for all YOUR efforts!
