I nominate SILENCE at drive time. Atlanta has too many bad drivers who don’t need to be distracted with bad radio as well.
By the way, on the subject of “bad radio”, why are Cindy and Ray still on the radio? Didn’t Cindy have a DUI about a year ago? Ray is the biggest p*y I have ever heard on the radio, so open-minded his brains fell out years ago. Please, LFG, put Star94 out of its misery.

It’s definitely not Cindy and Ray. They used to be fun and a nice duo for the ride home, but now they just do obnoxious skits and bits with two unnecessary people added, and after a while it only irritates me more while having to sit in crappy traffic. Although I think she does a great entertainment report.
I usually just listen to CD’s on the way home since there just aren’t any really great options. But if I do listen anymore after 5 minutes of all the Cindy and Ray I can take, I’ll flip over to 92.9.

Ryan is the definitely the best. I’ve loved him since the first time he worked for V-103! Elle is a different story. She just tries to hard! Her slang doesn’t even sound real.
BTW, Ryan, I would love for you to take over the morning show. Frank and Wanda just don’t cut it.

Sully on Dave Fm is the ticket in this town. He’s down to earth, and fun to listen to. He comes across on air as the kind of guy you’d want to hang out with, and talk about anything. Sports, the economy, anything! He’s funny, and not afraid to make fun of himself. Plus, the chemistry he has with Renee the traffic guru is great! Sully gets me home everyday!

Everyone that says they love listening to Ryan Cameron when they’re stuck in traffic….You are stuck in traffic because Elle is the WORST traffic reporter I have ever heard!!! As we sat at a dead stop on the connector last week the day before Thanksgiving, she was still on the radio talking about “um, no real problems to report, traffic really isn’t um too bad!”

I have to agree with the others - Elle annoys me - I would love to know what went down with her and Ryan Stewart of the 2LiveStews. He seems to really dislike her. I listen to Warren Ballentine and Al Sharpton and then turn to Ryan because Michael Baisden irritates me the same way that Frank Ski does…..so arrogant! Seriously, I have no doubt that most of Atlanta’s DJ’s are great, and I wish them the best. That being said, I still won’t ever listen to them.
I want to hear music. I spend all day having to listen to people and I want to get away from it. I either pop in a CD or turn on my XM to a channel and listen to music. If I do listen to radio I frequently turn it as soon as the DJ starts to babble.
Give me music, not lame attempts and humor. Worst of all, any DJ who tries to talk politics when it’s obvious most of them really do not understand anything beyond a headline just ticks me off as well.
So, it’s music for me, not incessant chatter just to fill space. In fact, I see that as the problem with Radio these days. The DJ’s are worse than the commercials.

to get over it - although i will not demean or belittle elle. I have to agree on the fact that she is not a good side kick. If she has fans they are very few and the only reason people listen to V103 in the afternoon is because of Ryan. Her voice is horrible and some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth makes you question her intellect. Ryan is a great DJ, but there is only so much of Elle’s voice and “air-headeness” a person can take. Michael Baisden and Art Tyrell fair pretty well as DJs, but if you are looking for laughter in the afternoon and you can tolerate his side kicks voice then it would be Ryan Cameron.

Why no word on the death of Bill Drake? He was an Atlanta DJ (WAKE)born in Donaldsonville, GA. Drake and another person invented the “Boss” Top 40 radio format which many stations used for years. He helped create Drake-Chenault, a radio syndication firm.

Morris in the Morning (Jazz 91.9 FM AM drive) has a great show to keep me in the right frame of mind for work in the morning, but when Jamal Ahmed (91.9 FM PM drive) comes on, I make sure I have a notebook nearby. Most of the time radio is a background sound for me, but with Jamal every other song is a ‘who’s that?’ or ‘where-can-I-find-that’ kind of moment- I’m always learning something new from Jamal. Morris is a close second, but Jamal takes this one- his playlist alone is an experience.

Jamal Ahmed on WCLK. Not for your common music listener, though…truly for lovers of music. The show is jazz-based but you’ll hear everything from Old Soul, Deep House, World Beat, Neo-soul, etc. Talk is short, sweet and to the point but still intelligent. If you love music, check him out 3-6pm on 91.9!

The only DJ that makes me want to fall in love with music down to my SOUL is Jamal Ahmad WCLK 91.9 FM. He includes a vast variety of music whether it be a John Coltrane rare original or a funky revisited track that makes your body move. Or even talented new independent artists before they are famous. And if you have children in the car you do not have to change the station because of brash comments that may be offensive. Jamal Ahmad only plays music that will inspire every generation.

Commercial radio is such sad disaster now that many, many people don’t even know what a DJ really is.
DJs are people who play and are knowledgeable about music. Afternoon radio is overwhelmingly populated by people trying to be “edgy” and “hilarious” between the commercials on stations that act as if they’re doing you a favor by playing “5 songs in a row!” There’s a reason these people are called “on-air personalities.” They don’t dare call themselves DJs.
Jamal Ahmed WCLK ( real, music-loving DJ) caused a complete change in my taste in music. Before I moved to Atlanta, I’d never heard of the artists that he plays. Now I can’t imagine my CD collection or iTunes library without them. While listening to his show online, I’ve found myself not wanting to leave work to walk to MARTA for fear of missing some fantastic new track. But - and this is another thing DJ’s do - he puts his playlists online and will gladly tell you then name of the track that his just played, the name of the album, even what record label it’s on and what country the artists are from.
Try getting that from the people making sex jokes and spreading dumb gossip all afternoon.
