‘Wicked’ tickets in Atlanta on sale Saturday
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Are you feeling “Wicked”?
Well, surrender, Dorothy. Get on a broom and zip over to the Fox Theatre this weekend.
On Saturday morning, “Wicked” fans will have an exclusive two-hour window to buy seats for the popular Broadway musical “Wicked” before they go on sale via Ticketmaster.
From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., tickets will be available at the Fox Theatre box office at 660 Peachtree Street in Midtown. At 10 a.m., when the clock goes ding-dong, the masses can begin calling and clicking. (404-817-8700, ticketmaster.com).
Prices range from $31-$127.
Last time “Wicked” was in town, single tickets sold out in about two weeks. (Just to be clear: subscribers to the Broadway Across America-Atlanta and the new Atlanta Broadway Series at Cobb Energy Centre had first dibs on tickets for the upcoming show.)
The 3 ½-week run of the popular “Wizard of Oz” back story starts Oct. 8 and runs through Nov. 2. The local Broadway presenters planning Saturday’s special event promise prizes, raffles, food and a guess appearance by B98.5 FM’s Will Gara.
Don’t you know your friends will be emerald-green with envy.

Wicked is the best musical I’ve seen in a long time - it’s a lot of fun. If you didn’t already love Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch), you will. The book is a good read beforehand, but be warned, it’s a little ‘earthy’, and a lot is left out of the musical.

Thank goodness for Broadway Accross America. I have already gotten my tickets. Last time I missed out. Never again.
I love the music from Wicked.

I got to see this the last time it came. I have to say I hated it.
It’s not that stuff from the book is left out, as you’d expect that due to both time limitations and stage limitations. It’s that they changed a whole lot of the story.
I liked the music, and some of the scenes are breath taking but to me, I’ll just listen to the music and spend the money on other shows.
That being said, if you’ve not read the book, don’t before you go to see it. If you’ve not read the book it’s a great show.

I saw Wicked in New York and bought the book at the bookstore in the airport on the way home. This was last summer and have yet to finish the book. I just can’t get into it because the story is so different from the musical. I am a huge Broadway fan and Wicked is second-best on my list behind Mamma Mia! Already have my tickets and can’t wait for October 12!

I’ve seen this twice — the first time, when it was last here, and again in Chicago last summer. My daughter and I love this show, and know and sing the songs to each other by heart. It was the single biggest reason I signed up with BAA this year, to make sure we had our tickets!
But the book … blech! I read about 5-6 books a week, and I have yet to finish “Wicked” — not sure why, because Oz is one of my favorite fantasy places, but I could just never embrace the book. But the show … ! Even having seen it several times, I still get goosebumps during “Defying Gravity”.

I agree the book is a bore. It is page after page of Elphaba going to college, and it is simply not interesting. Which is a shame, since much could have been done with the education of a witch with green skin. But it got too far into the politics of Oz, which by any means, is more boring than one can imagine, and not something anyone could care about. I haven’t seen the musical, but I’ll bet most people who have read the book haven’t either. The musical is attractive only to those who haven’t ploughed through all or even part of the book.
