Anybody going to a “Breaking Dawn” party?

dawn.jpg

There are something like eight to 10 parties scheduled for Aug. 1 at metro Atlanta bookstores for the midnight release of “Breaking Dawn,” the fourth installment in Stephenie Meyer’s mega-selling “Twilight” series.

It’s Harry Potter all over again, with costume contests, trivia contests, adults behaving like kids, and gleeful anticipation. All for a series of books about the love affair between a high school girl and a vampire.

I’m doing a story about “Twilight” and the parties and would love to talk to any “Twilight” fans out there. You can email me at pkloer@ajc.com or call 404 526 5448. Thanks!

I won’t be going to a Breaking Dawn party, although I did attend the Harry Potter ones.

I just recently started reading this series and I am totally amazed! I was skeptical at first, bc I typically hate stories about vampires and such, but the writing in the first book grabbed my attention and now I am hooked. I’ve read the first 2 books in 2 weeks and I am waiting for some quiet time to start on #3.

BTW, I am in my 30’s - not a young adult reader!

No parties for me, though I will definitely buy the book. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable series, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I also enjoyed her first ‘adult’ book, The Host. I’m 27!

Yep, I’ll be there. A friend and I even had special shirts made up for the event. We can’t wait! And we’re both in our mid 30s with husbands and children. This is a fantastic series of books!

I will be at the party at the Borders on Cobb Parkway in order to pick up my book, I don’t care so much for costumes and the like, but I intend to get that book the night it’s out! I reserved my copy in Feb!

I will be at the Breaking Dawn party in Myrtle Beach! I absolutely LOVE the Twilight Saga! It’s a fantastic series, much more relatable than Harry Potter. I am 16 and when I read them, I can feel Bella’s emotions and understand (well, almost) completely what she’s going through, in the sense that there’s this struggle for love and to love and how you really can’t pick who you fall in love with.

All of my friends and my sisters LOVE the series. I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL THE MOVIE COMES OUT..DECEMBER IS MUCH TOO FAR AWAY!!!

i too am not a big vampire fan but i read the first stephanie meyer book because someone passed it along to me. i was hooked and read all three within two weeks. they are so well written and appeal to a wide range of ages not just to teens or vampire lovers. i was really shocked at how much i like these books. i also read ‘the host’ too, which is not like her vampire series but is really good too. i look forward to reading ‘breaking dawn’ but as for going to the parties or dressing up…no way. i’ll just take a nice glass of red wine, some cheese and fruit and some nice fluffy pillows to enjoy with mine.

Big SHOUT OUT for my 16 yo niece whose computer is broken right now. I know she would want that, as she insisted that I read this series and is absolutely in love with the story.

I figure it’s a chick flick kinda thing, but, I’m also a vamp and a reader. And as a tech… her name pulls a “full wall” in PicLens: www.piclens.com google search.

Serious Firefox Firepower add-on. Thanks for the reminder of the book debut, I’ll buy it for her. I’m a paperback in the woods at night by dim light kinda guy.

Books that stay on my radar are legend. This series is on the radar. Tolkiens “Lord of the Rings”, Silmarillion, Feists “Riftwar Saga”, J. K. Rowlings “Harry Potter”, Orson Scott Cards “Enders game” sequally kinda weird thing - excellent. Well done and Stephenie Meyers “Twilight” series. Let nobody forget Anne Rice, the original current Vamptress author, Stephen King (Led to great movies), Dean R. Koontz (miserable movies) - incredibly enjoyable books, and I would be seriously remiss to not mention David Drake for the guys - Hammers Slammers… WAR!

OH Mercedes Lackey… I never want to find out which sex this person is. On the list.

Who’ve I forgotten on the great’s list? Hmmm.. Shakespeare, Bradbury, Harry Harrison “Stainless Steel Rat”, and I’ll just end with Arthur C. Clarke.

Robert Asprins “Myth Adventures”.
Ping Ping Ping Did know he died this year until right now.

Stephenie has been entered into my strange and sordid pantheon of fictional great writers. I know, because, I would normally overlook this. I would not post.

She is the only unread legend in my pantheon of truly great authors of today: Who still made the list.

I am an elder nightowl….and would love to attend a ‘real’ break of dawn party. I am still wide awake and raring to go then, but alas…think I am the only one in the city. On a more serious note (lol), I haven’t heard of this series, but as an avid reader ( what else is there to do when you are wide awake and the world is asleep) I will check it out. And a side note to Dlink…you forgot Stephen R. Donaldson; And how about Spider Robinson? Doesn’t anyone know about Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon?

Donaldsons Chronicles… Been there, done that! :-)

Haven’t seen the Crosstime Saloon, and that just sounds interesting and tasty. And how could I have not mentioned Roger Zelaznys Chronicles of Amber! Catch you on the night-side ER Nurse!

This Twilighter will be at the Barnes and Noble in Alpharetta (off Mansell Rd). The Mitch Hansen Band will be performing songs from their “Twilight Hour” CD! I have revamped the trilogy four times now and I can’t wait for Breaking Dawn!

I have to say, it seems the indies have one-upped the box stores on this one. Any independent carrying the series and caring ABOUT the series-Little Shop Of Stories, Wordsmiths-are giving it their all. Heck, Wordsmiths has commissioned a folk band to reform as an overly-poppy, tongue-in-cheek goth tribute band. Should be fun!

I am going to a book party and Barnes and Noble and I am sooooo avid to go. I am not the type for costumes and all, but I’ve been waiting about a year for this book to come out and I can’t wait any longer!!!!! Thanks to Twilight I can’t stop reading vampire books, but none have compared to this series.
